anyone here can confirm? always trust ozb members more than random internet hackers

This camera is just a toy not a real ip cam I bought one it only runs with china region selected works with just home app. its not secure after hack anyone if want can see your camera. use it for monitoring your front door while sitting in your room.

      • +3

This camera is just a toy

Disagree. It may not be high end but still very useful as an IP cam.

        • Its build quality is good but you will have to play a lot with all the hacking techniques it is good if want to stay busy for a week, to me it is a toy. Buy one play around for a month an then post your feelings here.

          @ozehunter:

Will do. I haven't hacked it yet (and haven't put a SD card in it) so just streaming to China. :) The 15 sec recording limit for motion detection is annoying (plus the fact that you the need the app and the camera online to retrieve those 15 sec recordings). Maybe I'm still in the honeymoon period. :)

okay probably will use it to monitor garage door.

      • ok, not sure how you determine between an IP camera and this toy, who produces 1080p stream over the Internet….
But would you care to point me to a real IP cam with 1080p for a similar price?
Actually - even for double of the price.
        Thanks in advance!

        • if you don't want to spend money you can't get good ip cam. It is a sort of webcam. go and buy it if you like it I am not stopping you.

  • +1

    at $25 I'll get two!

  • +3

Make it $35 and I'm in.

  • Will buy 2 if it's $25

  • I have one of these the app is almost unuseable. Slow and in another language. Has anyone else experienced this?

    • +3

Most of the app is in Engrish….

      • You mean "App exist in many language: Chinese, English, etc"

    • +1

What issues are you having? Works ok for me. Some Chinese in it but easy enough to navigate around.

  • +3

I've used mine for a few month as baby monitor.

    feedbacks per below

    1. fast launch speed
    2. picture quality is good
    3. low light quality is good too
    4. motion detection is working / alert timely
    5. lack of general noise detection, only detects alarm
  • Is the rep going to respond to the people still waiting on their orders for the Power bank? It been WELL over a month now and haven't received the package.

  • How do you get $29.92? When I add to eBay cart and enter code it comes to $30.90 for me.
Is it a Cash Rewards thing?

  • Has anyone got timeout issues when trying to set it up using the official Mi Home app?

I can't get the camera to setup on my Wifi network but using a mobile hotspot via 4G works fine.

    • +1

If ur gona use the Mi App. just make sure you have selected on your Mi Home profile on the Locale as Mainland China not the "UnitedStates (recommended)" profile.

  • +2

i bought 4 of em last time just to see what the fuss is all about. That is just it.. all a fuss ! an ugly over hyped up $30 ip cam..

I guess some will find it a good cheap alternative device for monitoring ur baby, garage door, nanny, gran, pets, etc.

    • Need to sell one for cheap?

      • im in melb. ur in syd. not worth it in the end if posting. I'll just have to rebox and regift it to my least fav nerdy inlaw..

  • +2

Just ordered $25 version. This is from store, not ebay. Got code "xiaofang" in PM and told I could share.
    http://m.shoppingsquare.com.au/p_424933_Xiaomi_XiaoFang_1080…

    • I just ordered one too. Thanks rep!

      • …and my order arrived about 8:40am this morning! Very quick, thanks Shopping Square! Less than sixteen hours turnaround.

Apparently none of my devices are compatible with their MiHome app. Weird considering most of my Android devices are less than a year old. Too bad, no spyware for me. I was always planning to hack the firmware anyway.

  • Has anyone managed to work out how to change it to English.
Theres some sections of the app which is Chinese… I don't want to go pushing all the options without knowing what i'm going
