As a traveller I would say "luckily" the red_is available.
If you are travelling with check in baggage then forgot any aesthetics and matching to your suit.
Red, or actually any other color than black and grey, is far better for quickly and easily spot your luggage.
Focus on sturdiness, size, etc. OK, pink may not be the best option for hetero man, but the red is actually perfect.

        • Well said. When theres a sea of black bags. Best to have a different colour bag.

Last suitcase I got was red, and it's been so awesome being able to spot it in the crowd every single time rather than having to check the tags or remember to attach flair to my old black suitcase that looks like everybody elses.

yikes. 3.5kg bag. on a 7kg check in allowance dont leave much room to bring anything else.

I believe you are thinking of carry-on allowance.

      • yeah my bad.

on a side not. how sturdy are these things? want something that could take a beating. seeing how baggage handlers like to throw luggage around.

        • Very sturdy. Lifetime warranty on zippers and wheels in case it breaks is a good bonus. I m not 100% certain but I was told by the store manager, rips aren't normally covered in its lifetime warranty. In saying that, I do have those dry red luggage's and never had any problems with it. Dragged it thru beach sand, gravel, got splashed on boat rides and still good as new.

I bought mine for $200+, so $150 is a bargain.

        • In my experience, the main thing that dies are wheels predominantly, followed by handles. And that's because of luggage handlers. This is outside warranty as it's not a manufacturer's defect if the luggage handler breaks it. Therefore most luggage warranties are worthless. Crumpler's warranty is excellent as it's so comprehensive, but again damage from luggage handlers is not covered.

To me this bag has an above average build.

        • @KoNpHuSeD: yeah. Thats pretty much whappened to my bag. The bag is fine except for the wheel has cracked from its plastic base. Likely as a result from being dropped.

        • @xoom: In most cases you need to immediately claim the damage with the airline. Depending on the company, most will then fix the damaged wheel at their cost. Some companies will even let you claim after you've left the airport.

    • I think you mean carry-on

I have this bag and love the quality to death. However, it's a very awkward size as the 75cm and 81cm suitcases will allow you to fit a lot more. This is important as many airlines count by the number of bags rather than the total weight. If you have a Crumpler store near you, you might be able to find the 75cm Dry Red No 11 in stock for $140. - they had it at World Square last week. It's a 1kg heavier, but fits 85L (42% more) and should be able to get you the 23kg anyway.
