    If you live near these DMs, you would be crazy not to go. It's essentially free and you get to know the guy that orders and manages the whisky at your local DM. I was mates with the wine guy at a DM I used to live near and he would crack a bottle to "taste test" every time I came in. I'm not saying they are going to hook you up with free stuff but it doesn't hurt having a guy that knows a tonne about something you spend a tonne on to know you well and give you advice about what you like.

      even better is that you meet the makers so that they can hopefully give you a personal/private tour if/when you visit their distilleries :)
