    • Surprised to see bad reviews on productreview

  • Who else is sensing an "iPad Pro 2nd ed." for $499 at 9pm?

    • If it's an Apple product, I'm going to sleep now

      Android FTW!

      • I'm also seeing a "Galaxy s8 256gb" for $399.

        • You clearly shouldn't be a fortune teller.

  • It's BACK!!

  • Got one thank you. Happy with the specs for his school work.

    • +1

      who's "he"?

      • +2

You. But it was going to be a surprise.

  • 40% stock still available…

  • There's a Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Signature Edition Laptop on Microsoft store too for the same price

    • 15.6 in HD LED touchscreen (1366 x 768)

    • Avoid that APU, the perf is no where near as good as the i7

      • Yeah, it's similar to the Intel Core i5

        • Similar to an old i5… also higher power consumption 25W vs 15W

  • +2

got one for my mom, shes only using an old laptop, so this is definitely an upgrade.

    • -1

this one is a new laptop with 10 year old specs.

  • +1

Screen is retarded, but as desktop replacement it's great.

  • What game can i play with this laptop? Whould it be abke to handle COD?

    • Should be fine for Couterstrike Source :P

        • Haha good old days of camping with the riot shield and deagle on the bridge at Aztec

  • Just purchased one of the $320 dell laptops with SSD for travel the other day.

While this looks like a decent deal I think i'll be happy enough with the little guy, I don't think I could stand using something without an SSD.

  • +2

And its Gone. 653 sold in 36 mins

  • I have never seen anything sell that fast on eBay. Wow.

  • +4

Thank you, Thank you & Thank you! what else can i say ?

  • So much hate lol, wouldn't want it for an everyday laptop for University but as a desktop replacement, occasional use or for someone 50+ (made my mum get one) it's an amazing deal. She nearly forked out over $500 for something far inferior. Can buy a 240/256gb SSD for $125 these days, making it a beast for $550 (yes I know the screen still sucks).

  • Hi TA, did you get one too ??

    • +3

No, not this. Got the Bose though. I'm stoked :)

      • +1

Yes, I bought the Bose too. Thank you for your great work. Cheers

      • So I used Chaos for the QC35's
        Count20 for the Saucepans.

What other vouchers are out there? for whatever 9pm is….

      • What's Next ?

        • +3

          Ready to hit submit :)

        • +1

@tightarse: lol, so you know everything before hand. Keep it up !!

  • No (profanity) way that laptop is worth $1499 retail, CPU is okish, but the rest?

    • 8 gig ram is enough and stick in a ssd put the 2 terabyte hd in an external case and its not too bad i think for the 424 and less gst when i go overseas so 380 ish.

      • 8gig ram is about $50 these days. Laptop weighs 2.1KG. Its a boat anchor.

For this to have been a deal it'd have to be an ultrabook. Those are worth 1500ish

        • Lol got to be better than my 14 inch acer Celeron n2940 2 gig ram I got for just over 200 about 18 months ago.

        • @paulaus: Celeron? didnt know that was still a thing… they had their hayday back in late 90s….

        • @BargainKen: I stuck an a ssd in it and it is actually fast to load and general stuff but real slow on demanding stuff.

        • @paulaus: Yup mechanical drives been a bottleneck for a long time now, resurrected ancient laptops doing so. This 2TB HDD wont be doing this brick any favours.

  • lol a bike.

Now the QC35 score looks even better :-)

    Thanks again Tightarse

  • son-of-a …… the only two deadlines I manage to catch were pans and vintage bikes.

  • Damn I got this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/311590 for the same price and thought I was getting a bargain. Now this surprised me.

    • yeah ruip.

  • (profanity) better than the last deal. GRRR.

  • I've received mine but the hp sticker on the plastic wrapping of the laptop has been ripped and a piece of clear tape on top of it instead. Should I be concerned?

    • Do you have a photo Omitsuki? I received mine today and didn't see this on mine.

Is this usual? Or is mine a display model or returned model?

        • Interesting. I'm not sure to be honest.
Fellow OzBargainers, who have received theirs. How's your experience?

        • @PLA74:
I typed in my serial in https://support.hp.com/us-en/checkwarranty and it states:

"Active: Covered under Manufacturer warranty, 7 months remaining."

          What's yours?

        • @Omitsuki: Showing same warranty status with mine. Going to message them on eBay to find out.

        • @Omitsuki: message sent. Will keep you posted once I get a reply.

        • @PLA74:
They said all their products are new and are sorry for the condition of my one. (Didn't give possible explanations why the seal was broken though if it's new.) They offered a refund.

I don't want a refund though, I want an exchange. Looks like eBay is out of stock so they might use that as a reason to not exchange. But the official Microsoft website has that model for sale still.

I also find it strange how there's no proper invoice.

        • @Omitsuki: oh wow, I see. Did you ask them about the tax invoice? If so what did they say?

        • @PLA74:
Nah didn't ask them about the invoice.
Looks like the ripped seal is actually "normal" based on others' responses lol.

        • @Omitsuki: Yeah, in terms of the actual laptop I received the quality if like brand new and no issues so far (touch wood)…been playing lots of games on it and been running it for more than 10 hours straight for downloading games.

  • Received my product today, opened and shocked to see a small crack near power button. Messaged them on ebay and they're offering a refund but I'm asking for a replacement. Hope I don't have to fight :(

    • Refused for replacement :( can someone suggest any way to fight back?

      • +1

What was their excuse for refusing?
eBay shows there's still one left. You can screenshot that and show them if their excuse was they don't have stock.

        • Thanks I will do that :)

  • Did anyone receive a tax invoice? I am looking to get the GST back and also it will help to claim any warranty later.

    • Same question from me. Anyone receive a refund?

      • I'm overseas back next Saturday if mine is not in original box with factory seals it will be going back for a refund it is advertised as new not second hand or refurbished shame on Microsoft.

        • I've just messaged them on ebay. If I don't get a decent response/action, I'll be disputing it with PayPal and getting a charge back done on my credit card.

        • +1

@PLA74: I think their 99.4 rating will soon fall.

        • @paulaus: yeah. Hopefully they learn their lesson for next time!

  • Microsoft response when I asked them about a tax invoice and why saying 7 months remaining on the warranty when I check hp website

Also, the tax invoice they sent is just an email stating some details, not really an official one (not a pdf or image). Something looks fishy here.

  • Has anyone received one that is actually new and in sealed untouched package.

    • here how I received mine,
      https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/81226/50121/img_201706…

The HP sealed is broken and a circle sticker above it.

      • That's not acceptable get an exchange or refund.

        • +1

Mine is the same. Seal slightly broken (not as obvious as above) and resealed with tape. No tax invoice either. For the price, even if its a refurb, still quite happy with it.

        • @dkstorm:But its not the point would you have still bought if advertised as refurbished many of the buyers would not.

        • +1

@paulaus: i wouldn't have bought if it was stated as a refurb, but between keeping it and going through the hassle of a refund, keeping is the lesser of the 2 evils. As long as it has the full 12 month warranty (no receipt is the next question….already emailed them).

        • @dkstorm: fair enough, is screen ok viewing angles brightness is it glossy.

    • mine had a new seal over the hp's broken seal. Its a different laptop from a similar deal. It had a brand new factory smell tho.. The battery latch on my unit is loose. I asked for an exchange but they only offered refund. I think these are B quality stock which failed Quality chesks..

    • same with mine, HP sealed is broken and a circle sticker above it…. checked my serial number and is says activated last November 2016 and warranty remaining is 7months

  • @TightArse Are eBay/Microsoft Store (or anyone else) likely to do another unbelievable deal like this next week? I saw this on the day and was too late to place an order. BTW Thanks for all the great work you do to bring us some amazing bargains.

    • Mate you didn't miss much these are obviously used or refurbished.

  • +1

I opened mine up (with difficulty) to swap the slow HDD for an SSD. Inside, it's either been really well cleaned or brand new. There was nil dust. The fan looked brand new. Mine had a broken HP seal as well. Also listing 7 months of warranty on the HP website. Will chase MS eBay this week.

    • I'm looking at doing the same. Was there a specific guide you followed to open it up? I cant find anything model specific so I am guessing it is similar to other HP guides Ive seen

      • +1

There wasn't any real guide to go on. Just undo the screws on the rear cover. Remove the battery, and also peel the two rubber feet back to reveal two extra screws. The trickiest bit is removing the cover, I recommend using a plastic pry tool to separate the keyboard from the bottom cover. It's clipped in pretty well so you need to use moderate force. Just be careful not to damage the plastic rim surrounding the keyboard.

        I installed a 480gb Kingston and there's a massive improvement.

    • Can you share the link to check the warranty online?

  • Got mine today. Seems new. I was very surprised with the performance, boot times and app load times are very decent even with the HDD although I plan to swap to SSD once the warranty expires.

    • How's the screen mate glossy or Matt is brightness ok.

      • brightness is great, I believe it's matte

    • is the HP seal as well broken in the plastic? and have you checked the warranty details? it seems everyone has got 7months remaining

      • I hadn't checked, although perhaps it's just because Microsoft would have needed to have used them to make them 'Signature Editions'
