  • Kogan's refurbished is a good price too $516.46 before discount. Seriously considering it.

Fair chance you'll get refurbished at Ted's too. The level of Ebay feedback suggesting the item was used before is compelling. Not sure I would risk it.

Wow, that's worrying. I bought one on the last 20% sale and it's definitely new.

That's good news :-). Chances are most people would get new items, but they certainly appear to pass off used, and this worries me. Clearly happens reasonably often from the customer feedback. As a big business, I'm not sure why they would even try this. Disappointing.

        • Yeah I agree. Honestly, I never bothered checking the feedback before I bought for the fact it was a big business. Guess I got lucky, will keep it in mind for next time..

  • I've never owned a drone, and was very tempted by the ~$500 Kogan offer for the DJI Phantom 3 Standard. This is an awesome price for a drone of this quality.

The showstopper for me was finding out that it only has a range of 500m. If I owned something like this, I'd definitely want the decent remote, and the ability to get at least over 1km away.

I'm sure this is good for some uses (realestate photography etc), but not suitable for me.

    • With Australian drone laws you need to maintain a line of sight view of the drone anyway so having a range more than 500m would be a waste. It's hard enough to see it 500m away.

      • Ah, right. Fair call.

I was thinking of instances such as using at a park, or at the beach, out over the ocean. I haven't actually owned one yet, so 500m might be fine.
