Insurance is a difficult thing to compare because of all the fineprint in the PDS. That said, SCI looks to have better terms and conditions than travel insuranz which I grabbed. But for mine, it was yet another $20 cheaper.
Yeah, I was going to mention that I hadn't done a full comparison yet! Still, cheaper than this mob…
Well, if you're worried about losing your CC, QBE does $3k cover for that. That cant be bad, since thats one of the more regular mishaps during travel. Neither SCI nor TI cover for that, for what its worth. Travel insurance sure is a nightmare…
Just checked for my upcoming trip - they're 250% more expensive than most others (on original price)!! Even with the discount, it's still $100 more than my other options.
Who do you normally use for Travel Insurance?
I check each time as they're not always the same. Usually get online quotes with my health ins provider, car ins provider, & other majors like RACV, Woolworths, Travel Insurance Direct & a couple of others. Sometimes you also get a little more off if you have a policy with them already (eg. health ins).
Is it really 40% off? I only see a 10% off.
It says 10% off but the prices end up being 40% off their normal price. Should have a crossed out figure when you do a quote.
EDIT: It's 40% off a marked up price but 10% off online price.
121.5, crossed out was 135. So, only 10% for me?
Edited for your edit: That makes sense now.
onlinetravelinsurance.com.au and World2Cover are both inexpensive travel insurance options that I have used previously. though I haven't had to make a claim with either of them.
Warning to all - just checked both the OP's original site (capitalexpresstravel.com.au) & QBE's direct site.
CET seems to host a QBE quote form within their own site, so it's just a reseller of QBE.
My example:
*CET = $291.34 down from $485.56 (40% saving)
*QBE = $296.60 down from $329.56 (10% saving)
…Seems like all the "savings" are from the OP site's inflated mark-up!!

The other links have been updated by the moderator, not sure how I change this.
Not sure you'd want to change it, given the blatant mark-up…
Technically it's a bit cheaper, but calling it 40% off is ridiculous.
I changed it as it is a fake deal. Tested 1 month in Europe as an example
Via your site: $193.80 $323.00
or directly: $196.20 $218.00
So it's 40% off a made up price or 1.3% off the online price.
Almost a year to the day and they are trying the same shonky tactics, which was equally poorly received.
Try reading the deal posting guidelines, like any rep should be doing, especially since you've been a member for a significant length of time.
I would avoid QBE if you can. I went to a dispute to the Financial Ombudsman to resolve the issue which finally came in my favour 9 months after the initial claim. They do all sorts of things to make your claim a pain in the arse.
I'm not going to go into the explicit details of exactly how bad they are, but its safe to say, i'm honestly surprised there aren't class action suits against them.
Totally agree with you. I was involved in an accident and the other party had QBE as their insurer. It has been almost 4 months and my insurer (RACV) is yet to get a response from them.
Every time I call RACV they just tell me that they are waiting to hear back from QBE and that the opposite party doesn't want to admit she's in the wrong. They take their time with claims and you can't do a single thing about it other than play the waiting game. Avoid them at all costs!!!
No deal for me. Singapore
$73.49 with www.onlinetravelinsurance.com.au -$150 Excess
RIP-OFF $140.40 QBE with $100 excess.
Ran some dates for 2 weeks in September to Japan, and Southern Cross Insurance was $30 cheaper ($100 excess).
