  • Isn't this comparable to the old series 5 not series 7.

    • Yes, doubt the review is relevant to the posted product.

      [edit] review link was deleted.

The review was not for the tv deal posted. Apologies.

  • is that any good ?

  • LCD, not LED. The target market must be those easily impressed by buzzwords.

    • Is the list misleading for stating the tv as LED?
Harvey Norman listed it as LED as well http://www.harveynorman.com.au/tv-blu-ray-home-theatre/tvs/t…

      • That deception used to be quite common, but after a lot of complaints now they at least say "LED LCD".
I've seen people here that were fooled into thinking QLED was comparable to OLED.

        • You can thank Canstar for that. They wrote an article heavily pushing Samsung. One comment said "Samsung’s use of ‘quantum dot’ technology means that picture quality and depth is comparable to LG’s OLED models."

          https://www.canstarblue.com.au/appliances/tvs/

People underestimate how manipulative the media is. This article reads like a Samsung sales pitch! I feel sorry for the poor guy who said QLED was as good as OLED. He got shouted down because he trusted a website that is usually good.

    • There is no such thing as an LED TV. The reason they call them LED TVs is because that's what it doing the backlighting on an LCD TV. The earlier models of LCD TV used CCFL backlighting. CCFL had poorer white reproduction than LED.

      https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/LCD_television

To say LCD not LED is not correct either. It implies there is such a thing as an LED TV. If this TV has a CCFL (and therefore no LED), I'd be amazed.

      • The current commercial LED tech is called "Organic LED". Another example would be the LED billboard-sized TVs.
OLED is real LED. They just don't want to be confused with LED-backlit.

BTW, other techs such as DLP can use LED lighting.

  • This is the Series 5 model (58N5).
