Why is it a bargain? It's been there for a while now?

    • +3

Are you with Telstra? Because this price change happened last month. There has been no listing of it here. If you knew about it you should have posted it last month. Not everyone has good reception and for Telstra this is a bargain. Now stop changing your comments please.

not new… and not really a "bargain".
sure its good for telstra but its not THAT good overall

About time! thanks for posting I have vodafone and reception don't work at home. I might change over tomorrow.

    • Me to. how are you going to break the contract?

Thanks for the heads up OP
I definitely rate this deal from telstra…sometimes it's worth paying a bit more for quality of service…something which is rather lacking with Three :/

If I understand correctly, on the $30 prepaid plan you get $170 to use on normal calls, text etc and 50MB included….
then you get the original $30 to spend on whatever, which includes the "plus packs"
ie. $30 could get you $170 calls texts + 350MB data ($20 for 300MB data pack) + a spare $10 to use on talk or text packs as well….
    is this right?

sounds pretty decent to me, aside from the per minute block charging :P

  • Helstra and bargain can't be in the same sentence. I work in telco and they're the most complained about company. More negs than 3 virgin and dodo combined lol. I would never recommend Telstra unless u need it for the coverage factor

Ummmm. I have a feeling percentage wise there would be more complaints in dodo.

Considering they have such a huge customer base I'm not too surprised that the numbers would be large too.

    • yup you are comparing apple and oranges, with their large market base it is expected, i guess the ratio of complain is not any different with optus / voda

  • Thanks OP, Telstra have always been too expensive or too much fine print. I never use all my credit anyway so I'll switch over this week me thinks. Bigpond are doing good internet deals and now the prepaid plans are getting better. I won't have to worry about reception as my flatmate is telstra and I need to use her phone most the time.
    A+

  • does the unused bonus credit and data rollover to the next month?

    • I am pretty sure it doesn't. Sorry.

  • and dont forget to register for their my account and My Prepaid online service which is pretty good as well. you can manage your prepaid service online e.g recharge, buy plus packs, change offer etc. I am using it and find it really useful.

    Nothing new about this deal.

Good for you theblake. You work at a Allphones! Post the deals when you find out next time.

  • If you need good reception consider an entry level optus 3G or 4G mobile that has a connection for an external aerial like a 9dB antenna for $25, or even a serious 15dB gain YAGI antenna for $50 to $100 for freedom from the big guys.

    • interesting where do you get the antennas from?

      • antennas mean access to another world of value, such as the recent
        http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/29879

to find a place for decent aerials that are specified for the exact service you intend to use,ie 3g, next G etc, whirlpool.net.au forumns is a good place to look. A patch lead is also needed, and is simply a short wire connecting the phone to the antenna lead.
I sought mine off ebay, though cheap, the quality wasn't great.

  • Deal has been out a while. Lookout Telstra cop half of all TIO complaints, I think that says something quite loud.
