+1 on the harrington jacket, bought it a while ago for 160, wearing it often especially when it's cold. Still in good quality. For that price i would surely buy it again.

    Edit: Bought the navy one

    FREE SHIPPING ASWELL :D!

Exchange only possible if you go instore, otherwise they only offer refund. I suggest buying 2 sizes and returning the one you dont want

    • Thanks for the tip, bought Small and Large.

    • Thanks OP

Ended up getting both sand and navy - great sale can't go wrong!

+1 for Steve McQueen & very informative post.

Fantastic price for a fantastic jacket. If you don't have a Ben Sherman Harrington… you really should.

  • +14

    Colour Recommendations from my experience

Navy - Most versatile. The one I wear the most. Can dress it up or own.
Sand - The Steve McQueen classic. My second most worn and gives a contemporary vintage look. Closest to the Baracuta Tan/Natural colour that Steve preferred.
Dark Forest - Versatile for Autumn, Winter, Spring. Good alternative to the MA1 Bomber & Field jackets.
Black - Almost never wear it, but I should have figured since I never wear black :(

    • +1 for the Navy, it's fantastically versatile.

congrats on convincing me to buy a jacket I had no idea I wanted, ya bastard ;)

One of us. One of us.

    • +1

Sorry not sorry! It's likely you may not stop at just the one jacket :)

    • Ya, thanks buddy, I didn't want one either……oh well.

    • +2

wondering why my husband didnt have one based on this ! ….bought him one too

  • How do they fit? I'm 183cm, 80kg. Slightly muscular with broad shoulders. Large for me? It's a pity that they don't tell us the model's measurements + size he's wearing!

    • +1

Get a piece of tape or string, measure your chest with the string, use a ruler, then it's usually 2 inches more than your chest is the size you should get

    • +1

I would say a Large for you, possibly Medium for an athletic fit. They are great for broad shoulders since they have Raglan sleeves. Check out Armie Hammer who rocked one in The man from Uncle:
      http://www.jamesbondlifestyle.com/sites/default/files/ckedit…

Myer and David Jones will usually have these in store to check out.

    • According to their size guide, based on my chest measurements, I' a M. But based on the shoulders measurements, I'm a L. So, I guess Large? Haha

      • If i were you i would go into a store and try on before you buy! just to make sure haha

        • There isn't a Ben Sherman Store in poor old Adelaide unfortunately! They have a 60 day free return policy, so I guess I could just order both sizes if I wanted to and return the one that doesn't fit well.

        • @RyanMK: They dont offer an exchange policy just a refund. Their exchange policy you would need to go in store, since there are no stores xD i wish you luck on the correct size haha

        • +1

@RyanMK: Check the David Jones, they usually have Ben Sherman in store. According to the DJ website they're carried at Adelaide Central, Marion, and West Lakes.

          https://www.davidjones.com.au/brands-by-store/Men/ben-sherma…

Edit: I think Myer stock Ben Sherman as well, but they don't appear to have a store by store listing.

    • Received mine on Friday. I ended up buying a M and L to make sure I get the right size. Both actually fit, with M giving a more athletic fit, as zhenjie suggested. I ended up deciding to go with the L as the M is a bit tight when I choose to zip up the jacket.

      Very happy with my purchase!

Sizing, imo, is 'True to Size'. The Ben Sherman Harrington is considered slim for Harrignton standards. Since a Harrington/Blouson is naturally baggy, consider this jacket 'regular' by modern Australian standards. They are extremely forgiving to any body shape thanks to the elasticated waist and cuffs. These are functional jackets for day to day.

FYI I wear a size Small Ben Sherman Harrington
-Asos Harrington - Size Small (absolutely junk, terrible build quality and dodgy waxed cotton)
-Baracuta G9 Modern Classic - Size 36 and the arms are still billowy

    • I'm 6'4" / 72kg & slim. Small or medium you reckon? I generally prefer a slimmer fit but it is a jacket after all.

      • +1

At 72kg I'd recommend a small, but length may be your issue if your torso is very long. But the good thing about this jacket is that it looks good if it actually ends at your waist. Order both sizes and return for free.

      • I'm 6"/77Kg.
I don't own a Ben Sherman Harrington, but I do own a Ben Sherman jacket of similar design (only major difference is loose cuffs) and it's a Large.
As such, I've ordered a Large Harrington.

  • +1

    Their polos are nice

  • Bought a pair of formal shoes earlier this year from THIS deal and added a sole protector.
They still broke from the heel. Quality was disgrace, and I'm quite forgiving most of the time! Buyer Beware.

  • +1

    Add code to description? 'ROYAL25'

  • Nice deal OP! As you seem to be familiar with Harringtons from different companies, what do you think of the quality of the Ben Sherman ones?

    • +5

I've tried cheaper alternatives, like the Asos and Aliexpress/ebay ones. The outer material were poor cotton/poly blend that was rigid and had terrible drape/wrinkles. The inside tartan lining was also cheap, with no soft flannel feel of the higher end brands.

Fred Perry has the best silhouette and very good construction/materials. I sold it as I didn't like the visible branding.

The Original Baracuta G9 has the best tartan lining, materials and construction. Blousey, even their new cut.

Ben Sherman easily the best value for money. Only just retired my Navy one after 2 years of constant wear and abuse. Now it's my workshop jacket.

edit: Got my dad a Ralph Lauren Wind Breaker Harrington. That's his favourite jacket and has been worn daily for almost 2 years with little signs of wear. Has a nice waxed cotton feel. Ralph Lauren would be my recommendation for older & larger folk.

      • Wow! You do know your Harringtons! Appreciate the advice! Will order two sizes and return the one that doesn't fit.

  • +6

If you want to celebrate the Queen's Birthday properly, you'll need some of these

  • Never knew I needed a Harrington, still feel it's a bit preppy / for golf only, but will duck in at lunch to try some on.

    Thanks OP!

    • +2

It depends how you style it imo. Rock it with some nice selvedge denim and it becomes classic masculine. Wear it with nice grey wool trousers and its smart casual/relaxed dress. Very versatile.

Wear it with bell bottom, flannel wide leg pants and you got the 70's Japanese golfer look :), aka the Swing jacket look.

      • +5

Went at lunch - hated them all aside from Sand (which was the one colour I knew I didn't want)

Now own a Sand Harrington - never knew I wanted something so much.

        Thanks!

        Extra 25% off also instore.

        Cheers

  • All items can be returned within 60 days of purchase for a refund.

thats good right. buy the two sizes your ate between and return the wrong one

It appears Cash Rewards have 4.8% cashback at Ben Sherman

If you think you can pull off a bright red Harrington, after the coupon and CR, that's only $56 delivered. Bargain!

    • That's the only one I'm interested in and they're out of XS. :(

  • Awesome !

Just in time as I ripped my jacket this morning.

    Thanks :)

  • +1

Of course this would come up when I get paid next week and it's a long weekend…:(

    • Riding the rollercoaster too my friend :(

  • grabbed a navy blue, had a google at the fred perry version and think its better but the price is 3x as much lol.

  • How warm is this? Just a light jacket?

    • It's a light jacket but feels very well made and solid cotton close weave fabric.

I've ordered one (so can't type from experience) but I reckon it would serve well as a wind break and do a reasonable job in cooler weather. But it's not a winter coat with layers of duck down!

    • It's a light jacket that's lined. Wearing one now in Melbournes chilly winter with a t-shirt and cashmere jumper.

There is a quilted Harrington, but be warned, size down. It's very baggy, especially the arms.

  • I don't know, 80 bucks for a harrington-jacket seems a bit high, 60 would be a bargain. I have bought Ben Sherman jeans for 35 on their website before, so they do have good discounts sometimes.
For that price you could score a wool blend pea coat if you look hard enough

    • $80 is a bargain for a quality Harrington. Try any that retails under $100 and you can tell the difference.

$80 for wool-blend pea coat is going to use the cheapest Chinese itchy wool imaginable. Even the Uniqlo wool coats pill and itch like crazy (comparative to higher end brands.

  • Thanks OP. Grabbed a Harrington and a shirt - nice price. Would have cost almost exactly double at DJs today.

  • grabbed one. but how warm are they for autumn/winter weather? i.e can it weather the cold outdoors without stacking layers underneath?

    • Winter you'd want to layer up, which this jacket is easy to do. Light Cashmere/Wool/Down should suffice

  • Code works on the red variation, bringing the total down to $59.25! Thanks heaps OP! Been wanting to pick up a red Harrington for ages.

  • Does free returns mean they also pay for shipping? or do i need to pay for shipping myself ?

  • Last time I have purchased a shirt from then… its loosing colour… not worth from that brand…

    • Their Harringtons are considered part of their classic range, and I found them to be much higher quality than their seasonal/trendy stuff (which I never buy). No colour loss on any of my jackets apart from areas where I've actually rubbed/worn while working.

  • I'm not sure about this, but I just ordered an Navy color one. Hopefully looks alright.

  • +1

Thanks, bought 2 Navy color ones. Will return one which i don't like, not sure about my size :D

  • +2

Just tried them in store for fitting.

I'm 167cm (5'6) 60kg and the XS is nice and snug. As I prefer tight fitting, I'll be getting the XS. Didn't bother trying on a S.

Quality wise, they seem to be constructed quite decently. Noticed the stitching had loose threads on the buttons, but can live with that. The zipper glides nicely but does have a bit of coarseness to it - so would probably take it off or zip up in the car with a seat belt. Overall, should be a decent buy.

    • Hey mate what's your build like?

I'm 170cm tall but my chest measurements were in line with a Medium so I ordered that…

Are you fairly slim? Hope it isn't too big on me.

      Thanks!

      • Yep, quite thin. I wear size 28 pants if that helps.

These jackets do have a bit of elasticity in them, so do keep that in mind. I accidentally tried on a Medium (thought I grabbed the XS) and found it was quite a bit longer on the torso area (noticeable to me), arms were also a bit longer, but the chest wasn't that bad. If you're a bit bulkier, a Medium will probably be fine for you. I just like my jackets to be quite fitted.

        • -1

          Thanks for your help man!

      • +2

        I'm 170cm, 72kg and wear a Small.

        • 178cm, 76kg and i find Small snug fit when I try in store today.

        • That's about my height and weight. Was thinking about XS but it's not available, so thanks for this. Looks like S for me

  • +1

Can confirm my DJ's price matched this jacket in navy at $81.75
Very happy as I had a DJ's gift card to use.

    • Thats good. Could you please upload your receipt?

    • Does DJ stock XS?

    • Nice. I have a DJ card to use too. Did you have to show the website offer to them?

      • +1

yes with the code ROYAL25 used in the cart

  • Took a look in store. Looks okay (a bit old fashioned / slightly formal) but I wouldn't pay RRP for this. At $80 it seems like a okay buy… but not cheap. If it was $60 for navy…

Edit: the quilted one looks better imo but no more sizes.

    • The regular Harringtons are much more classical, and as such, will be timeless. The quilted variant looks tacky and will fade in terms of style.

      • I agree with you there. I really wanted to like the quilted Harrington but the fit was off, too glossy exterior, it wouldn't be a timeless investment like a cotton Harrington.

The MA1 jacket is good winter jacket for those looking for warmth. Very similar fit to the Harrington: https://bensherman.com.au/product/ma1-bomber-jacket#MF13047D…

Bought the navy harrington at David Jones just now. They're still selling for full price but can price match with no issues. Further $15 cashback from AMEX. Makes it $66.75.

    • Do you have a link to the AMEX cashback offer?

    • Can I ask which David Jones? I never tried price-matching clothes at DJ but considering doing so tomorrow at Westfield Southland (VIC) because the website doesn't have the size I'm after. To get it to $80 at David Jones is quite impressive!

      • Sydney CBD one. Really happy with the service at DJ. Give it a try!

        • Cool. Will try them later

      • Got mine from Malvern Central

  • How does this compare to the Saba Harrington? (I purchased it on sale for $99 a few months back but now kind of regret it as the collar is massive).

  • Just got a sand one, cheers!

  • Good post OP. Sadly I can't find XS jackets anywhere. 176cm/60kg slim. After reading comments the small size will probably be not well fitted for me.

  • Can you get these at their outlet, like DFO?

  • How water-resistant/rain-proof are these?

    • They aren't really. Cotton outside, not waxed.

  • +1

Don't forget Cashrewards for an extra 4.8% cashback!

  • $69 at DFO outlet. They didn't have my size :(
    Gonna order online

    • What colour and size do they have?

      • Plenty red in variety sizes, few navy in 1 small, 1 med and a few XL. 1 black. That was about it. This was @ Homebush DFO

  • +2

    Costco $49.98.

    https://imgur.com/a/5cXWw

Sorry still working out how to use Imgur.

  • 175cm, 75kg and I fit a small

  • I live in a high rise apartment and when I type my address on the website it gives me a different address which doesn't even show my apartment number or building number. Does anyone have a similar issue like this??

  • Not to discount your opinion zhenjie, but I don't think this is a quality Harrington at all. But then again, I haven't worn the asos ones. I have a Ralph Lauren one at home that I bought 2 years ago on sale for 120, which I understand is a lot dearer. But the material felt very premium. Cotton was soft and not plastic like, the lining was the same, soft and luxurious. Felt like I was putting on a suit.

Don't get me wrong, for $81.75 I don't think it's that much of a deal, but I did get one with Amex after David Jones price match, for $66.75. Under 50 and I think it's an absolute steal imho. This is going to be more of a more casual, non-premium Harrington over my other one :)
