  • Thinking of grabbing one of these since our dryer just crapped itself.

Anyone have a hands-on experience - Good or Bad ?

    Thanks in advance

There's no guarantee these are made using the same manufacturer or to the same spec as the last ones they sold. The same problem applies to Kogan where different shipments of TVs are different.

At the end of the day it's bottom of the market and built to a price. Personally I'd go for a name brand product where the manufacturer has a reputation to protect (not Samsung) and which you can easily compare to other products.

        Thanks Mav - good points

I've been impressed with Aldi's return/warranty process in the past, so the 3 year in home warranty is certainly an attractive selling point.

        And then there's the price…

The lack of parts to be is a big issue, i recently replaced our 17 year old Fisher and Paykel dryer and you can still get parts for that including important bearings etc.

I instead where you're coming from but unless you wear out dryers in three years it would make sense to buy from the bigger manufacturers.

          And then there's the price…

I picked up an Electrolux EDV5051 dryer for $330 in eBay sales a few months ago so bargains area out there.

    • From memory tempo were the service centre reps for a washing machine I purchased and had no issues with them when it came to a fault under the 2 yr warranty. Assuming they would likely be the same for the dryer. As mentioned above though it is a bit of 'luck of the draw' in terms of what you get. 6.5kg is a good size for the price. I have a 7kg and it only really just fits in a king size quilt cover without tangling or bunching up.

I bought one last time they were on sale. Returned it to the store within 30 days. It worked great for a couple of weeks then just wouldn't turn on. Maybe the fault could have been fixed but i saw returning it as the easiest lowest risk option.

The Sun is the ultimate Ozbargain dryer.

    • I agree…even in Melbourne weather I've probably used the dryer twice per year on average. And even then I could have gone without it, it was just a bit impulsive.

They will put up the power bill.

I'm guessing you haven't lived in Melbourne during winter?
EDIT: Particularly getting linen dry can be a challenge.

I hang my clothes behind my PC tower fan.

Don't mean to be technical but I think wind is more beneficial than sun

      • Technically yes, but in practicality the atmosphere is never that humid that things won't dry, so you are usually concerned about heat

  • Im interested. Anyone here had this dryer? Is it good?

Read the comments, it's likely that no-one has had this before.

Be wary if its a vented dryer as you will need an outlet for it to vent the hot air. If it is a condensing dryer, you will need to connect the water outlet valve somewhere too.

  • Does it have a sensor dry function?

    • Doesn't state that in specs so almost definitely no

  • Does anyone know if it's a vented or condenser dryer ?

I could be wrong but very unlikely for it be be a consdenser at this price
