      • +1 for ebgames price match. I went into target, they had no stock, they reminded me the sale starts tomorrow. So I went to ebgames and sorted it out there. I think this is a marketing strategy by Target, get people in through the doors with nothing to show for, make them buy something else instead.

        • I went to EB games at vic gardens and showed them the catalogue. The dude was like yea no issues then goes to the back, comes out and says 'sorry we can't price match that but you can pick it up tomorrow for $36 when it goes on sale. He checked availability online at one store (the one on bourke street) and refused to price match because the store offering a lower price should be within 10 mins of their store. Can someone please confirm this?

        • @andrewalexander09:

My ebgames guy checked the website while he went to get the game, said it's $79, I go nah man catalogue says $39, showed him the catalogue, cooperated straight away. I've heard rules about "there must be a target in the same shopping centre as ebgames". But the target at the shopping centre I go to closed and they still do it. Just depends on which eb store and who's working I guess…

  • Little Nightmares Special Edition - PS4 is 29 bucks. Is that a decent price? Or is it not that great a game hence the price?

    Seems this sale begins thurs(tom?)

    • Haven't played it myself, but it seems to be a short game, around 3-5hrs playtime to complete.

    • Or is it not that great a game hence the price?

The regular price is $35 and it only came out a few weeks ago.

      • Ahh ok probably give it a miss then if it has such short gameplay and the price isnt as big a bargain as i thought.

  • Maybe we can buy the games through Target's ebay store and get the 15% off tonight too ?

    • Tekken 7 literally went up in the final hour of the 15% sale.

  • Sale prices aren't live yet!

    • +2

Some have and some haven't. By the looks of it, anything that is in the Awesome Playstation Deals in the catalogue (Pro Console Bundle, PS4 Controllers. Wireless headset, HZD and Uncharted 4) hasn't changed but it does say they start 9th June.
Also Mario Kart 8 Deluxe hasn't changed.

      • Tomorrow night then. :/

Wipeout still not listed on website!

      • Ah, i missed that date and was wondering why the sale had partly started. Bit of a bugger but oh well.

  • Catalog is here: https://www.target.com.au/catalogues#page=catalogue&params=f…

By looking at it I would say the Starting 9 is only for the PS4 Pro + HDZ combo…

I'll try price match on JB tomorrow

    • Just did on JB. All good :D

  • What is Targets Click and Collect like? Fast or slow?

    • +1

1-10 business days as your order may be fulfilled by the store you ordered at or it may be sent to that store from their Melbourne warehouse.

      • Thanks. Yeah I read that. Anyone with firsthand experience though? Eg so is the general experience of people here that they can confirm it isn't like JB where you are 95% chance same day?

        • +1

          Unlikely same day.
Of my last 10 orders (to a store in Adelaide):

          • 1 was same day.
          • 2 were 1 day.
          • 1 was 2 days.
          • 5 were 5 days.
          • 1 was 6 days.
        • @durd0008: Well, that is good then that their actual printed information is pretty spot-on!!!

I might try instore tomorrow then to grab Horizon Zero Dawn then! No point in a C&C!

  • +2

Odd that the Horizon price changes tomorrow. Glad I checked here first, I was going to drop into Target on the way to work and pick up two copies (one for me, one to send to a mate in England as it's still cheaper with postage!)

    Tomorrow then!

I doubt I could go in today and try and get them to sell it at $39…..

    • +1

Same here, lucky I saw the deal pop-up again whilst looking at the PS Plus deal starting tomorrow

    • Same here. Odd the one day delay, isn't it.

  • Damn! HZD and 30% off PS PLUS starts tomorrow!!! Gonna be B r o k e until the 15th :(

  • My local didn't receive Wipeout :(

    • It's not even available online, I wonder when they are getting stock?

Maybe I should just go to eb instead..

  • +3

I just picked up horizon zero dawn for 39 from my local target. Been looking forward to play this game!

    • How'd you manage that? Popped in this morning and it was scanning at full price

      • +1

I didn't see that it is supposed to start tomorrow. And it did scan at full price. But i showed the lady the catalogue and she changed the price down to 39.

    • I thought HZD was starting tomorrow? Now I'm even more confused. The website still has it at $79

      • :( I'm confused 2.

      • starting tomorrow. However you could try your luck to price match with catalogue in retailers.

  • I tried to price match at EB Galleries Sydney yesterday for Mass Affect from Harvey, then asked for Wipeout with Target catalogues, they did it for me. Not surprise because EB price match everything in catalogues

  • +1

I got HZD $39 this morning lady changed price for me :) but no wipeout in sight so on waitlist

    • Doesn't it start today though? They just haven't updated the system?

  • Waiting forever at JB for approval. Target seems to not have any stock for these games so it seems like it's dirty pool.

    • EB would jump at the chance to take your $$$ even if it's at these prices..

      • +2

You are correct, EB was no fuss at all. I generally prefer dealing with JB but they wouldn't match because Target had no stock. EB guy didn't even check.

  • Just got the controllers matched at EB Chadstone. Target wouldn't do it early

  • +1

I called targerts in perth and horizon zero dawn isn't the righr price because she said if you look carefully the catologue starts today on 8th. But the bundles and games only start from the 9th.

Sneaky. Just for recors for perth pplz they haven't even got stock let alone deliveries today so likely instores will not have stock on opening of 9th anyway so save your time. If online is on special is delivery perhaps included normally? Might be way to go.

Or price match jb seems to be working for some??

    • Target hay st (perth city) no stock of HZD or uncharted. The crappier less popular games like Mass effect and COD IW already priced at $39 with plenty of stock.

  • My local Target (Queanbeyan) would not give me HZD and UC4 for the sale price this morning because, as already mentioned here, the sale actually starts tomorrow. Nonetheless, I went into the closest JB Hifi and they price matched (begrudgingly!) so I picked them up from there today.

  • +1

got unchartered 4 price match at jb hifi.

    target ran out already

  • +1

Just bought horizon for 39. EB at Robina was happy to price match after I showed the downloaded target catalogue.

  • +1

For some reason I thought the DS4 controller deal starts today so was going to drop by after work to pick one up.

  • +2

Got hzd at jb for 39. Didn't even ask about the catologue just price matched. Must be common knowledge here.

My only bugbear is i got their display box and a cd from behind the counter. I've always gotten sealed new ones but they claimed that's all they have (ones they've opened). Assured me cd was all new. Hmmm any issues or is this common in retailers? Still like the reassurance of a sealed new one. Should've walked down to the next jb but only found out at the counter.

    • Lucky, guy at JB was shocked at price so he looked it up online. Seeing how it was still showing $79 he wouldn't give it to me until the sale started tomorrow. Only looking to get it from JB since I have a $25 gift card.

    • Hmmm any issues or is this common in retailers? Still like the reassurance of a sealed new one.

This is common with stores that sell games.

Big W and Target will have 99% of stock gutted. However, JB are a bit of a mixed bag whether they gut them or not as they have the space to keep many sealed. EB almost always do (as their space is a premium, unless it's EB Swanston), but they may have sealed copies at the back - just ask and they should fish 'em out.

      • I don't understand. Why gut them though?? Wouldn't you need to store the box somewhere anyway. Sure this jb said the stock on shelf was all that was left hence i got the display.

But for those with multiple stock you have to store the case somewher eanyway, why not just keep the cd with it and store it and not have to worry about repackaging them? Reminds me of dick smith closing down. Tried to get little big planet - the case was there but they couldn't find the cd… sigh

        • Wouldn't you need to store the box somewhere anyway.

The empty cases get chucked on the shelves, which usually indicates how many disc copies are stored in the draws. Also prevents theft.

why not just keep the cd with it and store it and not have to worry about repackaging them?

Again, theft. Although at JB, it depends on the game's value (maybe) as a lot of the cheaper titles still have the discs inside, but not worried too much if it's stolen (especially dirt cheap games).

        • @silverrat23:

Interesting. In the past i would bring an empty case to jb counter in suburbs and the norm was to grab a sealef copy anf pass it over. That way i figured they always kept blanks on the shelf for theft but gave you a sealed one when you purchased. Hence the gutting thing was new to me. My only worry is potential scratching oe dittying of discs due to retrieving them from the drawer..

        • @SaberX:

My only worry is potential scratching oe dittying of discs due to retrieving them from the drawer..

At EB, they use those soft-lined CD sleeves (like this), keeping scratches at a minimum.

I personally have no complaints (so far) as all the discs I've received work just fine - but nothing beats factory sealed goodiness. Heck, my local EB even fished out a sealed copy of Wolfenstein The New Order years after it came out!

        • @silverrat23: EB should consider better security like HN that doesn't require removing it from the box.

  • +1

Target Airport West don't have any copies of Horizon Zero Dawn.

And EB AW will only price match tomorrow. What I found odd was they went to check their stock, rang Target, confirmed the price and that the sale will start tomorrow, brought the two copies out I ask for, THEN told me they couldn't sell them to me today.

They seemed a bit taken back when I didn't want to pay full price -which is why I think they brought the copies out.

    • Ebgames airport west gave me horizon for $39 at 3.55pm. I showed him the catalogue screenshot on my phone.

      • Really? I went in about 4pm and was refused it. I had the catalogue, they rang the store, still a 'no' until tomorrow (now today).

Ah well, just bought it online from Target. I wonder if it's because I wanted to buy two? One for me and one to send to a mate in England.

        • +1

Wow just after me haha. He checked the website and said it's $79, I said nah man catalogue says $39 mate. And he did it lol. He must have realised the stuff up after I got away with it.

        • I returned this game today. Reason did not like.

  • +1

A few copies of HZD left at Target Waurn Ponds (VIC). I managed to persuade the lady, who was initially insistent that $39 was the price only if you bought the $499 PS4 Pro + HZD bundle (the bundle above HZD in the catalogue)… Why would I need 2 copies?

We both missed the fine print stating the sale would start on 9 June though… :)

  • Deal is live in the online store now

  • Prices are live!

  • Just bought UC4 and Horizon.
I'm guessing around 70hours worth of entertainment? =)

  • UC4 sold out!

  • Hmm unchartered was in stock and now gone!

  • Online is up. Click and collect working.

  • +1

Just a tip if you have flybuys, you can redeem points for $20 off

  • +7

Note that JB is doing HZD for $39 online if easier for you to click and collect from one of their stores:

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/games-consoles/platforms/playstati…

Grab this together with the nicely priced PS Plus membership already posted tonight for fun times:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/311821

    Enjoy :)

    • Glad I saw your message before I went out! Target at Westfield Marion were sold out of HZD, luckily JB had some left!

  • Dammit ordered from target but eaier for me to get from jb.

Can you cancel orders from target?

  • Glad I checked just after 10pm Perth time. Snapped up copies of HZD and UC4 before the thrashing began.

  • Picked up Uncharted 4 from Windsor. Think they have more copies left.

  • I ordered HZD and white Dual-Shock 4 from Target this morning, then saw here that JB had dropped their price on HZD. Went into JB this morning and they price matched on the Dual-Shock 4 - and their version is V2, not sure about the Target one - although they wouldn't match on a white one because Target are out of stock. I also picked up HZD for the Target price (and scored both on a Westfield gift card).

When the Target one arrives I'll just return them straight after picking them up (the email said you're allowed to do this).

    • Managef to get a jb price match too. Correct me if im wrong but the v2 boxnis distinguished by a white band on the top front where the PlayStation title is? V1 have the old blue boxes?

What worries me is v1 are all same size boxes. When i got one from malaysia a good time back after the ps4 came out the original controller i asked for (over 3Rd party fakes) came in q box half the size. Basicallt the box was roughly just bigger than the controller. So it fit in snug. Making me worried now if i ended up with a dud then given the box size.

      • I think that's right. Model no to be safe though.

        • what's the model number for a v2 vs v1?

Be keen to check if my backup controller for version 1 that i bought in malaysia is real. the box is the size of controller ( so smaller than aud) but have heard it's 'japanese/asian edition'. but it tends to feature on all the 'fake vs genuine' controller youtube vids as being fake haha.it looks real legit apart from a slightly off sticker for model number on back (like very very finely on the lines, but not totally out of whack).

        • @SaberX: New one is CUH-ZCT2

        • @Bornthisbeige:

Thanks. I'd have to open the box up to see the sticker on the back of the controller to confirm right? or can you see model number on the outside box somewhere so that i can return it unopened if so?

Any idea what the old one is (aus stock and others like asian/japan versions bought from overseas?)

        • @SaberX: On the new one that I bought the model number was on the back of the packaging (from memory).

          Old one is CUH-ZCT1

  • Picked up HZD for $38 from EB. Not only did they match it they beat it by a dollar. Wow :P

  • Picked up a new green camo DS4 from Liverpool Target.
They had at least one of each color as of 9:30AM.
    They are V2.

  • +1

I popped into my local shopping complex. JBHIFI and Target are with a 2min walk of each other. I walked into Target and over heard the lady at the gaming section say to another employee that if JBHIFI calls in to confirm the price/stock, she will say there's nothing. She said she's sick of the constant calls every time they have a sale. They're on sale at Target, why not pop in.

Oh and yes!!!!, they are V2 controllers. A bargain for $58. Though my local only had white, blue and camo.

Also picked up gravity rush 2 for $39.

    • Is gravity rush 2 a good game? I didn't know what it was about but always see gravity rush in the games aisles as i mistake it for a jrpg due to the anime style. It's not part of this listing - is it normally fsold for $39 otherwise where did you get it for that price?

I like the red controller but wouldn't mind a spare camo. Something different! i might haveto pop into target. I don't know what the difference is with a V2 dualshock controller. i think scoopon or something are selling them online too for sale but in the $60's, so this is still cheaper. On googling it just seemed to be that you could play 'via the usb' connection? Which confused me, since i charge all the time and play??

Apart from that the colour light moved closer to the middle panel thing?? It doesn't seem to have any other 'differences' physically. battery etc. reported the same?? I mean why v2 over v1? I'll probably just get a spare controller anyway incase mine breaks.

      • I've almost completed GR2. I like it.

If you like open world games you should like it. The side quests don't seem worth the reward for the most part, and some missions are frustratingly difficult, but you have a beautiful setting and world, an interesting cast of characters, and a very fun traversal mechanic that feels satisfying to move around in, and it looks cool.

The world is pretty huge, and it's very vertical. A truly 3D world.

This game can last you a very long time if you're going to do everything.

I would recommend the first game though.

        • i've never played open world games or GR1. So you control the character physically from a 3rd person pov (assassins creed style if that's what you mean by open world)?

Is the mechanics, quests, and things you do similar to running around in a jrpg, or nothing to do with grinding and similar gaming styles apart from the animation?

Still curious where the above poster got theirs for $39 so i can price match at JB. Wonder if GR1 is on sale - why do you recommend that over GR2?

        • @SaberX: GR2 is a better game than GR1, but it's a sequel.

Open world means you have a big world you can explore at your leisure and do side quests. Or you can skip all that and go straight to the main quests.

I generally dislike open world games because I prefer something focused and tight, but I did like this one. I can't promise you will though.

If you're after a JRPG, I recommend giving Persona 5 a try. Or there's Tales of Berseria.

        • @lostn:

Yeap, some JRPGS but this is going back to my younger days (ps1: breath of fire, final fantasy 7 , 8, 9 etc. legends of dragoon, valkyrie?? - who knows what my taste is like now).

Might have to give the open world a try. I guess i thought of open world play as in when you are exploring a certain part your running around from an assassins creed pov? FF XV would be open world??

I've seen a fair few persona 5 and tales of beseria in jb/ebg, albeit really expensive. I assume they're not mainstream so will struggle but will wait for a sale being posted on ozb hopefully!

        • @SaberX:

AC is an open world game.

FFXV starts open world then half way becomes linear.

I've never seen either P5 or ToB at JB. Strange. JRPG is a niche genre so they aren't kept in high quantities.

I am like you. I grew up with JRPGs on the PS1 days also, and have a fondness for them. They are not at those heights anymore though. Western RPGs are all the rage now, and JRPG have become a niche genre. People don't enjoy turn based combat anymore these days.

I would not call Gravity Rush a JRPG, though it does have some elements of it. I'm trying to think of a parallel to it. You complete a story mission, then a few side missions open up. You can skip them and go straight to the next story mission or you can do the side missions. After you finish all available side missions (around 7 or so) the only mission left you can take on is the next story mission. Once you've done that, another 7 or so side missions open up. Basically, they dole them out to you gradually instead of all at once, so you don't get overwhelmed. You can tackle them one part at a time. There are 49 side missions and 26 story missions. There's also some challenge missions that test your skill and give you a grade (better the grade, the higher the reward).

I just completed the game tonight. I took my time and did every side mission and challenge mission as well as collectibles. I explored the cities thoroughly to collect all the gems (upgrades your skills). I had a finish time of 55 hours. But I have not done the DLC yet. I'm expecting that to add another 5 hours. But if you skipped all the optional stuff, I can see the game being completed in 20 hours.

I loved the game. The story is good, the setting is one of my favorite settings in a video game world. It's gorgeous and quite unique. It has characters I love.

The beautiful thing is, all the DLC in the game is free.

I can't promise you that you'll enjoy it because open world doesn't seem to be your jam (it's not mine either). But if you find it on sale, maybe give it a try. I would recommend getting the first game too. The story is a continuation of that game after all. I played it on the Vita and it was a gorgeous game on the Vita, but I would recommend the PS4 version over it.

        • @lostn:

I can see eb games is doing gravity rush 1 remastered for 19 online so maybe ill have a check of that and see if i like it?? Is it as good as gr 2 however?

I cant find gr2 for 39 and the poster above hasnt bothered to respond yet so not sure where i can get it. Comes up as 49 on target so not exactly an on sale bargain worth accumulating. I had a quick check of gameplay for gr1 on youtube where she wakes up initially with no memories. Not sure what i think about the graphics and gameplay style. But i guess for 19 one can't complain too much.

I dont know why people dont like the old jrpgs. I think it's great having turn based decisions. Alot are real time vagabonds quest style dynamic fighting. Maybe i just dont like the real time fighting stress haha. Or the inability to put down the remote for a second haha

        • @SaberX:

Is it as good as gr 2 however?

GR2 is a lot better. But you may still like GR1. It's good still, and for $19 it will give you a couple dozen hours of gameplay. I did every quest and took around 40 hours.

Not sure what i think about the graphics and gameplay style. But i guess for 19 one can't complain too much.

It's a remaster of a Vita game. I thought it look great on the Vita. But it does look better on the PS4. However, it doesn't look like a game made for PS4, like the second one does. It's art style is what makes it pretty.

I dont know why people dont like the old jrpgs. I think it's great having turn based decisions.

Too slow. They want instant gratification and response. They don't want to wait.

    • Just got the ps4 controller pricematched but to pricematch at jb for gravity rush 2 where abouts did you get it from?cant see any signs so you may have got an accidental price match. Can you upload a receipt with date? Pm? Might be able to convince them to price match since it hasn't been long since.

  • Picked up the 3rd last copy of Horizon at Northgate Shopping Centre around 11:30am today.

  • Got the first copy at Fulham Gardens. You need to ask for it at the desk because it's not on the shelf.

  • Ordered online then found out JB hifi willing to pricematch ds4 + HZD.

  • HZD out of stock online

  • Is this available tomorrow?
