Because retarded millennial logic… "50 dollars" = "50$"
I find it hip and it tells me that this person is fun to be with.
Hi Gramps!
Some Euro countries do that. Germany maybe. I know Germany reverses commas and decimals. So $1,000.00 = $1.000,00.
If this is the one with supposed HDR but doesn't have wide colour gamut , then it's not future proof or actually HDR (cos can only display 8 bit and not the full range for 10 bit colours).
That being said if someone needs a big TV and 4K but doesn't care about HDR, then that's totally fair too
It's also been quite a bit cheaper previously. Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm not sure if $1k for a 50" TV, even with 4K, is good value…
See the screen for yourself and then judge it, figures don't mean sht. I have the TV and it's amazing, throw at it whatever you want it can handle it, games, movies, sports, fast movement, no shadowing or pixels, great contrast, brightness. Playbacks literally everything I put on the usb and plugged into it, great image upscaling, has smart apps, YouTube, Netflix, Web browser. Should satisfy even them most demanding and pickiest of consumers.
"It works" is a low bar …
like I was saying, if someone doesn't watch any HDR content or cares about it, then it's fantastic and fair price for a 50 incher.
if you do want proper HDR then this TV is not for you, despite what it says. this is the review here: http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/ku6300 if you look up "KU6000" you will see it is what it is called in the UK, and obviously here in Australia.
if you look at the color Gamut section given a score of 6.9, you will see the comment that "The range of colors the Samsung TV can display is only good enough for Rec. 709 content. Sending an HDR signal or settings the color space to native will not give you a wider color gamut" - - - in other words, poor man's version of HDR where the colours don't look as good as it would on other TV's or deep or as bright.
What bothers me is that Samsung has continued to do this for their low-end TV's for 2017, while Sony's and other brands appear to have wide colour gamut. And in that sense, one is being ripped off if they are looking for an enjoyable HDR experience
On a separate note, for sub $1k at the moment what is the best value/performance telly getting around 50"+ 1080p or UHD
I just picked one of these up for $995 at harvey norman:
Hisense 58" Series 5 4K Ultra HD LED LCD Smart TV
http://www.harveynorman.com.au/hisense-58-series-5-4k-ultra-…Seriously considering this.
is the N5 better than the hisense 55" 7000 series which is still available in some places??
Good question. Any idea how to find a comparison?
I'm looking at that model myself, can you tell me if it's good? I've heard Hisense has good screens but may have questionable software - so do you see any lag in the menus, or crashes, or slow startup times, etc? Does the EPG and PVR work smoothly? Also I'd like to know how well it upscales lower definition content. Thanks!
Sorry guys, I'm only picking it up today, I just went off other reviews.
I don't think this is a bargain, the 55" model can be had for nearly this price and as Sir Casm said, it's been much cheaper before.
I need a bargain on a 65, 70, or 75 inch. The bigger the better, but don't want to pay above $3000 for a 75".
It can't be an el cheapo brand like Soniq, Kogan, Hisense or TCL.
From all reports the Hisense 75" is a fabulous TV for $3k.
Personally I found and bought the 65" samsung KS8000 for $2.6k
How long ago did you buy that?
Ordered 9th May, delivered 18th of May, ( they had to ship the last one from melb to syd )
@kogi: Where'd you buy it from? Was it a deal posted here? That's not a bad price.
Was it a clearance? Because I can't find that model on HN, TGG or JB.
Original Post https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/304421
Yeah, it's old model which has being on clearance since boxing day
Sorry I got the last one from home clearance :(
I found these guys with a bit of googling, don't know if they are any good though

@kogi: no wonder i missed it. Header just said TCL, so I never bothered to open the deal and read further.
I'm not in a rush to buy so if you reply after some days using it, it would still be valuable.
anything decent around for a 50" with built in netflix? Sub $1k
Why not just get a Chromecast or Apple TV? Much better support than tv manufacturers.
I have a Samsung blu ray with Netflix app but then I have to switch inputs and turn it on then wait…. I'd rather a Netflix button on the remote like the Samsung TVs have. I'm lazy
saw this on all the harvey and good guys web sites. not really a bargain. the new hisense that all 3 retailers list the 58N5 55" for about $995 seems to be the new replacement model for the ones that were on special seems to be the new go to.
Why did you put the dollar symbol after the number? I'm seeing this more and more online now and I don't get it.
