  • For an A3 printer that's a good price.

Was hoping it was laser though.

    Nice find nonetheless.

Inkjet's much better for photos though, which is a thing for me.

      • +1

I'm the opposite. Text is a thing for me.

  • Remember genuine ink costs around $150 for the set

    • Apparently they average around 550 pages, which isn't too bad.
There are also plenty of good quality aftermarket inks around as well. I've used Calidad before, print quality was good and prices were fair, you could even go for even cheaper generic if you weren't fussed about print quality.
My Nan used Calidad in her Epson printer for printing photos for her craft hobbies, she was convinced the quality was better than the genuine Epson brand.

Edit: HP do an A3 inkjet printer for similar price bracket as this RRP also. If people were interested in comparing models.

Yeah, but you get 1,200 from the colour ink cartridges (XL 3 Pack) and 2,400 pages out of the black cartridge (XL). For a home user, this isn't a bad purchase.
Straight out of the box, you get 550 pages though, so just be aware of the standard cartridges. Good price for printer, and not bad running costs if only for home use.

      • 1200 and 2400 pages with text only!

Print A4 photos so you can see how fast these inkjets consume ink.

Yeah, well based on EVERY printer, the page yield is only 5% coverage on the page. It's better than the 240 pages you get from most $150 printers, and that's their high yield. Seriously, this is not a bad deal considering.

      • The thing is if home use means not printing often which leads to ink dries up and cleaning heads process usually throws away heap amount of ink.

        • I've had this for a few years for home use. The ink does not dry up. I use approximately 1 set of XL cartridges per year. Thats around $110 or something from memory using original inks (Buying online at best price). Its a brilliant printer in my opinion, hits the sweet spot for features and cost of ownership.

I should note I get photo prints done elsewhere. Its pretty cheap order to online these days and no home printer will come close to commercial grade photo prints.

        • @ashamam: really? Maybe your ink quality is better than my genuine Epson ink. If I don't print at least once in every 3 to 4 days then the ink starts to dry up which is very annoying.

        • @ashamam0: a set of XL per year. I call that relatively high volume in home printing. How many pages do typy reckon you get out of it?

          @StevieRay:

Heres the info. All replacements are the XL cartridges, keeping in mind the original set with the machine are not XL. Zero issues with ink, zero maintenance required (haven't even manually done a clean).

        • @ashamam:
Thanks for that =) What stood out the most was "Fax/List: 3" =)

So the second set of colour inks are roughly in their half stage of life.
          The black is almost new.

You have ~1600 colour pages over ~2 sets of ink (starter kit, 1x previous XL replacement, 0.5x current XL replacement)

        • @ashamam: I print my photos on a Canon Pixma TS8060 and it produces the best looking photos I've ever seen, they look as sharp as the latest phone screens. Where do you get your photos printed? The brother prints aren't in the same league for photo printing, very much cheaper to use though.

  • Is it automatic duplex scanning. That's the winner there.

Anyone have issues in ADF for scanner?

    • It is one pass ADF. BUT does not scan a3, this is a4 scanner with a3 printer

  • damn, i bought a brother mfc-j4620dw last week…

  • FYI Don't forget 1.3% bonus cashback from Cashrewards. Not a lot but every dime counts.

Just found out that it is the same price on eBay. Get 5% discount with (C5OZ)+ 1.3% cashback from Cashrewards. Now you are laughing all the way to the bank.

  • I have an older Brother, he serves well but only seems to scan on his bed. I want a new Brother as this one is too time consuming knowing how much I'll be needing him in the future.

Can someone confirm this Brother right here will scan thru his feeder?

    Help a brother out 👊🏽

  • Even a better deal. My wife received an eBay coupon "Winter15" which saves $15 for anything over $100 + 1.5% cashback from Cashrewards.
