    Not ICS again!
    Please ban them.

    less on eBay as always.

    But WTF is this used in? Has no pins or socket for a Pi.

      Hello sir,

      Our items are sold with 0 profit free shipping there.
      And they are cheaper than ebay, which has shipping fee.
      Plz make it clear and much thanks for your understanding.
      Have a nice day.

      It has solder pads so you can use it with anything, but I guess most useful for for a custom circuit.
      I don't mind ICStation, even though you can often get the components cheaper on ebay. They have good pictures and reasonably clear descriptions and often show components I'm not otherwise familiar with.

      • Thanks for your support mskeggs, and we will work better for your choice!
        Enjoy your day ^0^

      • components I'm not otherwise familiar with.

        Then why on earth would you buy them? "Oh, a low voltage fractional helium leakage analyser that's more expensive than eBay? How did I live without it? Instant buy!"
        Meh..

          i use some of this stuff to educate my son due to our failing educational system in regards to stem….. he is programming in java and python at 10 and he's still behind the chinese kids ….. luckily to dig coal all you need is shovel , for centrelink even less than shovel skills.
          we live in a country full of consumers and not makers ….. it requires a cultural shift to have more makers and that starts at home and the value we place on education.
          raspberry pi and other small electronics projects are an affordable way to do this.

          @garage sale:
          failing? Try another school. they have improved a lot since I was a kid.

          I don't know any 10yo chinese kids who code. They spend all their time in Kumon maths classes and violin lessons :-)

          Then why on earth would you buy them?

          Because I didn't know you could buy 3v programmable wifi modules for under $4? I was looking for a wifi module to run from a solar panel 5 or 6 years ago, and the only one with a viable power draw was $100+.
          I don't need it now, but now I know it exists instead of dismissing an idea as "oh, a suitable wifi module will be too expensive" I will remember this unit.

          I understand this isn't something you are interested in, but that doesn't mean it isn't useful to me.

      But WTF is this used in? Has no pins or socket for a Pi.

      Seems it is more of a Pi equivalent. For when the zero is too energy-demanding :)
      Would be nice if there was documentation in English linked.

      And surely hobbyists would want it on a development board?

      I don't need it now, but now I know it exists inste

      Perhaps you should check which website you are reading. This is not OzGadgets

      • I didn't positive or neg the deal, but mentioned I found their posts interesting.
        I see you neg voted, with a reason "less on ebay".
        I just searched the three components worldwide and couldn't find a buy it now price cheaper. Did you?
        The wifi board was $5.70, and the serial breakout was $10.67. The battery charge controller was about the same price, but a few cents dearer on ebay.
        If you are going to neg them, where is it cheaper?

          Its their history.
          Sometimes he posts useful things (e.g. DC converter) but never at the best price.
          Other times it is obscure items that nobody here would order.

          couldn't find a buy it now price cheaper. Did you?

          Thats not the point. Nobody wants a bare module. But since you set the challenge :)

          http://www.ebay.com/itm/RTL8710-Wireless-WiFi-Transceiver-Mo…

          How many hours to get this doing anything and do you really care about 25 cents?

          @manic:
          Different item, only 44kb RAM instead of 512kb. Maybe substitutable, maybe not.
          I take your point that in the past their 'specials' have been unreliable, and I wouldn't be that surprised if digging around aliexpress uncovered lower prices here too.

          But it looks like they have at least sought to beat ebay prices on the stuff in this listing, so it seems a bit harsh to neg them for past misdeeds.

          @mskeggs:

          So are you going to buy a few? I'd suggest getting one on a dev board :)

        • @manic:

          I'll broden them.

  • I work in the same industry as IC Station, in fact as a competitor of IC Station.

    Free shipping RTL8710AF Wifi module for USD3.25 is a REAL BARGAIN.
