Ok, have found this little discount similar to the old Optus trick.
Thanks to the commenters, just go to http://www.eventcinemas.com.au/Rydges :)
This will work for VMAX and Standard Sessions at any time..
Enjoy =)

Awesome trick. Are you sure they won't ask for anything special when going through to the movie?
I have used it without issues, but maybe is being questioned say you got it from Rydges Loyalty program?
Cool, just as long as I don't need any special cards or anything to show.
YMMV of course, but from what I hear it is hard/a hassle for them to reverse a online transaction, and I have used this twice with no issue.
Didn't work for me…soon as that link comes up it redirects to another page and doesnt give me a chances to put that rydges code in.
Did you try using it on a Non Standard Session?
Not working for anyone else?
Tried standard and non standard sessions, nothing.
I thought the same, then I realised you have to put on "&ctpurl=rydges" before you visit the link, going to the link then adding it on won't work.
This doesn't make sense.
Sorry, I thought I made it clear…
So if your session link is
https://www.eventcinemas.com.au/online-ticketing/ticketrefer…
It needs to be
https://www.eventcinemas.com.au/online-ticketing/ticketrefer…
@JordanM: Your first post is quite clear but It's not working for me, I dont get this https://www.eventcinemas.com.au/online-ticketing/ticketrefer… at all! Maybe It's Mozilla firefox? Let me try IE, I'll be right back…
@lovedeals: Nope same thing…it directs me to this the normal ticket page.
@lovedeals: Depending on the page you use to find your session you may have a link like
http://www.eventcinemas.com.au/Ticket/Create?SessionId=10267…
You can add it to this too
http://www.eventcinemas.com.au/Ticket/Create?SessionId=10267…
@lovedeals: What cinema are you trying to book?
@lovedeals: After you have selected the movie and the cinema, just right click on the session time and copy the link. paste it on the http bar and add "&ctpurl=rydges"…and there you go…..
Not Entirely Related to this deal
I find the $1.10 booking free to be stupid (even more so than the $1 booking fee). If you agree….
I also suggest you either @ them on Twitter or comment the discussion on FB in regards to the booking fee.
http://twitter.com/event_cinemas
http://www.facebook.com/EventCinemas
be happy it's only $1.10 the booking fee is $55 when going for a driving test at vicroad$
I think you may have just drawn a very long bow. Surely the $55 includes paying for the driving examiner, office spac, et al.
try this…..if you wanted to go and see Sarah Mclachlan in Adelaide…..

http://premier.ticketek.com.au/shows/show.aspx?sh=ATASTEOF10
$1.10 seems an absolute bargain :)
Some Ticketek events now include a bigger fee to cover credit card fees. Credit card fees are usually paid by the promotor.
Please note: At the request of the promoter, the transaction fees for this event have been increased to include a surcharge for credit card transactions.
Just bought one for tomorrow. Let's hope it works!
I think that VMAX works too.
didn't work for VMAX when i tried
Great trick!
… although why on earth would you want to see Vampires Suck? :P
Obviously this is heaps better than the originals =P
Would u prefer lame or funny? I would definitely go for the 2nd option.
the link is just there for like couple of seconds… before i can copy the link for the session i want to purchase a ticket to, the link changes to https://www.eventcinemas.com.au/online-ticketing/ticket.asp
how did you copy the link?
I got it…thanks heaps
Awesome - Nice tip!
..Just dont go see vampires suck - the movie sucks.. I would rate it 5/100
Works like a charm for INCEPTION at Bondi Junction!
Let's hope they don't get wind of this and update the website's ticket ordering process!
The link you want is the "Referral" link which stays on the screen for a split second, before taking you to the tickets choice screen.
The referral link will be in your History… so copy the link from your History and paste it in the address bar, then copy and paste the code right after the link… Bob's your uncle!
Just out of interest, does anyone know how much the 'old Optus trick' costed?
I think I recall someone saying it was only $8 a movie?
old optus trick gave us 2 tickets for 19.20. only downsides - can be used only mon-thurs and can only buy in pairs.
Or the ones from last year (expired June this year) were $9 per ticket 24/7.
The link for that one is: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/13931
Nice one JordanM!
Wow they changed the booking fee to $1.10? How tight can they get?
Well done! I did a little more investigating and adding &ctpurl=thredboclub also works (in case the Rydges code stops working). Still $10 plus $1.10 booking fee though.
wow they increased it by 0.10cents, used to be only $1 booking fee lol
btw the link is www.eventcinemas.com.au/rydges
Much easier, thanx prankster!
Thanks mate…I agree…so much easier
Thanks prankster. Top stuff.. It was getting a lil confusing
Awesome. The old optus tickets were the best. This isn't as cheap, but still good =)
Any idea as to when this expires?
Just booked a VMAX at Chermside.
Good deal! does'nt seem to work for 3D sessions of movies?
I've been using this for like… 2 years now. It's always been good! I have been hesitant to remind everyone about it since it is more likely to be removed if it gets abused. Now that JordanM has let the cat out of the bag, I may as well mention that there is an easier way to do this than copying and pasting links.
Simply go to http://www.eventcinemas.com.au/Rydges to buy your tickets. Select your cinema, select your movie, and it will show up with the $10 option. I'm pretty sure it works for VMax, but not for 3D.
$11(ish) movies are great. The way it should be.
This offer is made for Rydges Loyalty Club members. It's free to join, and I think you can do it from their website. When I joined, then never sent me out the member card. I've used this deal probably 15 times and never had any issues when collecting the tickets.
However, you can't buy tickets without the physical card. I tried to buy them at the counter once and they couldn't do it without the card. I even gave them my member number from the confirmation email that Rydges sent, but it didn't work. That was about a year ago though.
You didn't get ur card because on registration the site says "We’ll print your full Rydges PriorityGUEST membership card at the hotel where you chose to next stay with us – It’ll be printed and waiting for you at front desk. "
According to the Rydges site:
"Great movie savings especially for Rydges PriorityGUEST members.
-$10 movie tickets when you book online (plus $1 booking fee per ticket)*
-Valid for up to 2 tickets per session
-Valid for any movie
To obtain this benefit simply book online at www.eventcinemas.com.au/rydges and you will receive this offer. Please remember you must present your Rydges PriorityGUEST membership card at the box office at time of ticket collection.
*Not valid on Friday or Saturday nights or in conjunction with any other offer. Cannot be used to purchase gift vouchers, Gold Class or Silverscreen tickets."
Registration is free but they don't send the card. On registration the site says “We’ll print your full Rydges PriorityGUEST membership card at the hotel where you chose to next stay with us – It’ll be printed and waiting for you at front desk."
I have purchased some tickets for this Saturday..not sure if they will ask for the card on collection..
They won't ask for the card. They never have for me, and I've done it probably 15 times. Enjoy =)
I'll wait to see if this works. And see if I can find any more $6.50 tickets on ebay..XD
God I'm an idiot.
I paid 11.10 for a ticket today when I could have paid 10.50 because it was Tuesday…
Not to mention I had to print it out and all that hustle.
Haha you probably got too excited. That's what ozbargain does to you eh? You see a bargain posted for a product, and suddenly you forget about other specials/promotions that have always been around. Unlucky!
Just lol.
awesome post Jordan..we ozbargainers are back in business…:)
Worked for me at Bondi Junction. VMax.
deleted my original post - sorry
Damn could have used this lastnight, paid $14.10 for a student ticket and got a second adult ticket for free with my 100 points. Absolute rip off.
Will use this nexttime for sure
And I agree with commenting on their facebook/twitter about the booking fee. The idea of online booking is to REDUCE staff numbers, so it should cost no extra. And increasing it by 10c is just straight up greed. I really do not like the way Event cinemas operate one bit, I wish they never changed from Greater Union.
Is this working still? Cleared my browser cache and lost the URL.
I used it on Sunday last week……
Top stuff mate works like a charm!! :D
