Free Block of Chocolate When You Spend $50 at Woolworths/Safeway

260

Father's day special- spend $50 at woolworths or safeway and get a free block of safeway brand (WOW) chocolate. Not sure if this is at all Safeway stores or just my local one, but it's definitely happening at Middle Brighton Safeway.

This is part of Father's Day deals for 2010.

Same here in NSW, but the promo stipulated "Saturday only", unless of course they have extended it?

    • Agreed, poster yesterday said Saturday only. Only saw it at 9 p.m. so not much point posting it then!

  • I think it's both Saturday and Sunday. I got mine today (Sunday), so it's still on in any case.

  • oooh nice…. watch those choc fans line up for chocs. wow indeed. the anticipation kills me.

It was in the Herald Sun yesterday along with 20% off iTunes vouchers.
The total of $50 cannot include gift cards, cigarettes and recharge vouchers (eg phone credit and iTunes cards)

Spend 50 dollars for a $2 block of crap chocolate. Yay?

    • +2

That's what I was thinking. But it actually tastes quite nice, plus it's made in Australia!

Was spending $60 on groceries anyway, so nice bonus.

    • Exactly…

      • +1

and what about the people that normally spend $50+ at woolworths. your neg is not justified under the guidelines for this site.

        • +1

I never walk out from a shopping trip with less than $50 reduced mass in my wallet! ;)

      • +1

exactly isnt a reason for a neg vote

  • It's worth 2.99 on the shelves in Eastwood, NSW.

    got one yesterday
+ from me, although the chocolate is sub cadbury quality, still an awesome freebie!!!

(the checkout person says to me "did you want your free chocolate?"…der!)

    • Der, they need to ask otherwise how would they know if you want it, there are people that don't eat chocolate..

      • I've come to the conclusion that you really should read/post here earlier in the evening max; perhaps when you're a little more cogent, your grasp of the subtle humour we call sarcasm might be a little less tenuous! ;)

there are people that don’t eat chocolate

Yep, mental health facilities are full of them! :p

  • Got this one yesterday as well. It was a nice bonus. Free chocolate is always a positive for me! =D

  • Got 1 yesterday and its pretty good. Every time i eat a piece it tastes different so dunno whether thats good or not…

  • Oh what, wasn't offered any chocolate here and spent $123 earlier.

This is Melbourne btw, so maybe not valid here?

  • I spent $49.92 and they wouldn't give me one. Couldn't have got that close if I tried. D'oh

    • +1

why didnt you just buy something that costs 20c?

  • Wasn't offered any chocolate in Woolies, QV (Melbourne) earlier either. Spent $60+.
But I used the self-checkout lane, so maybe you need to go to the cashier lane?

    • I was in a normal lane at Woolie Ashwood and there was no mention of it.

    • There was a paper sign near the anz ATM that said it was for sat, while stock lasts and you need tobswipe your everyday rewards card, assuming you had one

Spend $50 to get $3 of chocolate? Not a bargain.

  • At the store I worked at, we only had them for Saturday. We also ran out around 1pm ("while stocks last"), though they found more down the back, so we offered them for the rest of the day.

    This is in Melbourne.

Whilst I don't mind a freebie, this is a crap chocolate

    • Is Woolworths forcing you to eat the crap chocolate?

      • They could be trying to replicate Milgram's experiment; using crap chocolate instead of electric shocks! :p

        • or… just positively reinforcing the behaviour of spending money at Woolies :D

          • @cysp: Yep, it's their version of a DRO! ;)

    • +1

that's subjective. read the voting guidelines. not a reason to vote neg.

    • While I understand what you're saying about home-brand chocolates being yucky, others may think otherwise. Unfortunately, personal opinion is not a valid reason to vote negative. It's all explained in the voting guidelines. Revoking vote.

  • Good bargain, but I'm refusing to do it simply because I will buy things I don't need to achieve $50 i bet. I can't trust myself :)
