  • Thanks Paul11.
According to the website, this is an octa core phone, not a quad core.
Is this the delivered price? Thought I saw +delivery.

Why would you suggest this over the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Pro which is still quite a bit cheaper (~$200 vs $300 + delivery)? I'm an Apple user, so I'm not as clued in on why $100+ makes one Android phone better value than another … (queue jokes about inflated Apple prices ;)

    • Xiaomi Note 4 Pro is much higher end than this

The country from which you purchase from explains the huge price difference. If you're buying a phone directly from China, they price it low because their labour, warehousing and postage costs are several times lower than that of Australia's. Xiaomi also don't charge very much for their Redmi phones, starting from 999 yuan for the lowest end Note 4 model.

If you buy from USA, the phone would've needed to have to make it's way from China and halfway around the globe to USA. (adds cost). Then the American seller would need to pay taxes, tariffs and fees to receive their shipment. Then the phone would need to make it's way from USA to Australia (halfway around the globe again).

Selling overheads will be bigger and you'll have to factor in postage … wheareas a Chinese seller could offer you free postage.

Chinese sellers also sell and ship things in very large batches, they will usually wait until they have a large enough order before they send. This usually means slower delivery (but is more cost efficient and cheaper).

not 'much' higher specs really bro, too lazy to explain atm, just feel you overstated it a bit

      • I for one really appreciated your explanation of and on these shipment and product related issues scrimshaw.

Thank you for adding your comment.

BTW - I'm holding out for an Aus' based seller with phone to include:
Dual Sim AND band 28 around the $500.00 mark.

Would really like to hear from anybody who is 'in the know' about such.

        Regards to all.

I agree on SilentReckoning, "much higher specs" is an overstatement. Xiaomi N4P got slightly better performance, much better battery. However ZTE got better screen, stereo speaker, nicer design IMO, maybe a better camera as Xiaomi takes not so good pictures, even among the same pricing group in a bunch of Chinese budget phones.

    • @DeWalt: My only issue with Chinese Droids are ROMs. They contain lots of bloatware and even sometime spyware. Yes, you can root it and install some other custom ROM. But I prefer to buy phones that run stock or near-stock Android, so as to avoid the hassle of rooting. ZTE Axon 7 is one of those phones that run near stock Android.

  • It says cannot be shipped to Australia on the website.

  • Rather get a Lenovo ZUK Z2 for less with much better performance and quality. Or pay a bit extra to get the Pro version if the 0.2" screen matters a lot.
