There's a lot of hoops to jump through here:
1) The deal starts after 12 noon for personal callers only.
2) You must also prove you are a Fluidtek Twitter Follower and not just some boofhead who's wandered in off the street with the code.
3) Which means you must already be following them on Twitter as there's no way they will be OK'ing new followers on a Saturday.
4) No guarantee of stock if you do go over there.
EDIT: Ooops re point #3, my bad, just got OKed. And the code is (I think)…….view42h

However, I'm not sure I'd fancy the prospect of dealing with Eddie for any warranty issues…
If you add the reported cheapest Harmony remote @ $29 then subtract the $20 Ozbargain offer it comes to $699.
If you can find it at a mainstream outlet for around $700 +/- a little I'd say that would be a reasonably good deal ATM IMHO.
BTW The Viewsonic N4290P-AU has different (& seemingly better) specs than the earlier US N4290P model.
i bought a ViewSonic 22" LCD monitor from Eddie in 2008. I set it up at work and then noticed the left top corner was fuzzy and blurry. So i took it back to Eddie the week after. He told me that he doesnt deal with warranty issues with ViewSonic products and i have to go through ViewSonic directly. i called up ViewSonic the same day. Told them my problem. aftr 3 minutes of talking, no questions what so ever, within 2 days they had a courier send me a new monitor and pick up the faulty one. That monitor is still going strong and i am very happy with it.
So the moral of my story, dont be put off from buying ViewSonic from Eddie (fluidtek).
I must say that IS reassuring.
Although I haven't had any problems with him so far, Eddie doesn't have the best of reputations as a caring, sharing, New Age sort of guy.
The reviews for this Aussie version, while few on the ground, seem to be not so bad.
I think this is a later iteration of the US/European model which did cop a little flak.Overall, being in the market for a cheapie, I'm going to keep my eye out for a mainstream special on these.
These are really nice TVs dude, I've seen a couple on display! :)
I was trying to get one for a family member about 6 months ago but they were consistently out of stock at the warehouse! The only guys I could get one off wanted $300 more than usual price plus ~$99 shipping; so that dog was never gonna hunt Monsignor! ;)
@StewBalls: I'd agreed.
With 4x HDMI, a USB port, Integrated Media Player, reasonably good specs & a not bad, 3-years collect-from-site, like-for-like warranty, I'd say these are pretty much the pick of the crop of the cheaper full HD 42" LCD TVs.
Also, with an extensive product range, especially as a monitor manufacturer/distributor of note, Viewsonic is a large, established company which has been around since 1987:

The lowest price for the N4290P-AU is normally about $799 if you do a bit of basic googling, so the Fluidtek jump-through-the-hoops price is about $100 less.
Even though it's Fluidtek, if they were a bit closer, I'd probably would have stirred myself and gone over and got one.
@Horizon: Yep, that's about the best price I could spot anywhere including Staticice too! Bit cheaper than when I was looking, ~$1199 then! ;)
Given Viewsonic products are routinely stocked by most IT retailers too, give your local favourite PC shop a try, hit them with the price & see what they can come up with! ;)
hi guys, Is this a good deal? my dads TV is on its way out ( the massive CRT types) and its fathers day tomorrow:)
also which logitech harmony remote is the best value there?
This is a good deal as the rrp for this tv is $1119
It's a really, really, really good deal if you were just about to pay the $2557 asking price at youprice com au - "The best products at the best prices on the net!"
http://www.youprice.com.au/products/42_WIDE_1080_HD_LCDTV_N4…
YouPrice @ $2557 !! Could not believe it so went to site and saw their slogan "The best products at the best price on the net."
It must be dark down there? LOL
I'm hoping fluidtek will stock 3d tvs ^_^
I doubt it but I'm in desperate need of a 50inch + 3d tv
Very few people aren't in desperate need of 50" 3D TVs these days.
Even the United Nations is forming a task force possibly headed by Sarah Palin to see what they can do to alleviate this looming worldwide crisis.
Yep, "Global Pandemic" was the term used by the WHO, I believe! :p
Stew and Horizon, you guys seem to have a vast knowledge on techical date relating to electronics. We appreciate your help in taking the time to share your knowledge with us fellow beginners. My question is, are you guys going to purchase this TV or wait for a better deal elsewhere?
No dude, I'm not after one right now, but if I was after a 42" LCD this would be right up there with my options! FWIW, if I was buying an entry level set in this class ATM, I'd be looking at Hisense, TCL, Viewsonic & possibly the Aldi ones first. Don't rule out a brand name though, I've seen a couple of bargains on here recently for some really nice models, pity they're expired now! The big thing to remember is the pixel defect policy for anything you buy, I've looked into the first 3 I mention, all Zero; not sure about Aldi though, perhaps someone can fill us in on that! ;)
Don't let the whole 50Hz vs. 100/120/200Hz thing fool you either, motion compensation is a very subjective thing, badly implemented it's horrid, well done it's good; well, in the eye of the beholder anyway! I've got mates with Samsungs that turned their MC off, even though it looks as well implemented as any other set to me, coz the MC judder pisses them off! ;)
When I was looking (for a family member), I just couldn't get stock anywhere at a sensible price, so I negotiated with a local JB & got them a Hisense 42" 100Hz FullHD LCD TV for the same price as the only guy who had one, sans shipping! Ended up being ~$200 under their cattledog sale price at the time! :)
FWIW, that's a great set too, beautiful image quality & specs; but unfortunately no inbuilt media player, though they've got my old Mediagate 450HD, so it's all good! Last time I saw them JB was selling them for about $799 as well, but they seem to have been superceded by the Hisense LED sets now, not sure if you could get one ATM! ;)
I'm so behind on technology, I was unaware that Tv's had HD's built in! I'll keep the info you have provided me in mind. Also, yes, Hisense LCD's are no longer available at JB :(
No, sorry dude; I didn't explain that well enough…I used to have a Mediagate brand media player model MG-450HD that I gave to the family when I upgraded to an Astone AP-300 (2x actually)!
It has a HDD in it, and a USB port to play from USB sticks & HDDs! It's plugged in via HDMI so they can watch movies from it! The Viewsonic & TCL sets (among others) have a limited version of the same functionality inbuilt; sans HDD! ;)
Whats the twitter code?
