  • Thank you. Any deals on DC fans? looking for 6 them and plus one with light ( total 7). any recommendations on the brand etc?

  • Quote saving off your normal price, not RRP

    https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:jDhKVQ…

    • +1

Normal price in-store was always $19.95
We slashed them to $9.99 on our new website for the sale launch.
Then slashed another 10% off again to $8.99

Plus an additional $10 off your order over $200 with newsletter subscription code. 👍

      • But they've long been cheaper on your ebay store, even as low as $8.54

I'd advise you not to try to fool people here, they are Professionals ;)

        • +5

Just because it's been cheaper in the past doesn't mean it's not a bargain now. I don't see why you feel the associate is fooling us, he is not claiming this is the cheapest it has ever been.

        • @Ryanek:

The fooling is writing "(Was $19.95)" in the title

  • What's the difference between this and the $10 9028 one?

    • It's pretty easy to compare them on the website. The one you state is not dimmable and is 10W vs 8W and dimmable. It also says it doesn't include the flex and plug. The 8W one doesn't say if it does or doesn't include it, but I presume it doesn't as nothing is pictured.

    • +1

      Hi asa79!

The main differences are as follows:

      AT9028 10w : AT8037 8w
AT9028 does not come with the Flex and Plug : AT8037 Comes with the Plug
AT9028 has an external Driver : AT8037 has driver built into the LED unit
      AT9028 is Non-Dimmable : AT8037 is Dimmable

This AT8037 has a better lumen per Watt ratio; meaning they are more efficient.

The AT8037 is available in 3000k Warm, 4000k Cool and 5000k Daylight output colours; whereas the AT9028 is only in-stock in 3000K warm.

The AT9028 is available with a Brushed Silver Frame.

In summary, the AT8037 is a newer model with better efficiency in terms of light output and lew power consumption.

      Hope this helps!

      • So, this means the AT8037 is just a single unit with a power cord coming out, and there isn't any external driver dangling around the unit? Can't seem to find information about this anywhere. Cheers.

        • Internal driver, like the SAL Wave.

  • Are these the standard size or the smaller ones? I'm guessing normal from the mm states but I'm not sure sorry.

Is postage free?if so, I will order 5.

    Thanks :)

    • Hi Bellpop,

Here are the AT8037 full dimensions:

      • Height: 61mm
      • Diameter ø: 115mm
      • Cut Out ø: 902mm

As for shipping, we offer free tracked delivery for most online orders over $99. Exclusions apply to WA, SA, NT & Tasmania.

      • 92mm cutout?

        • Sorry for the typo Tony76, it is 90mm :)

  • What's the shipping cost for 4 of these to Melbourne?

    • probably better to buy from their eBay store if you are only aftering 4, Link

    • Just threw 4 in a cart, $16.61 to Melbourne.

    • Hi feizor,

If you're after 4 of those, shipping to Melbourne would be appx. $16.
Feel free to browse our website and see if you could be interested in anything else, shipping would be free if your order was > $99.

  • It says plug and play but the picture doesn't show a flex and plug. What does it come with? Thanks.

    • +1

      Hi Tony76,

The picture only shows the downlight indeed, but it does come with flex and plug, ready to use! 👍

      • When you say "flex and plug" what exactly do you mean? a normal powerpoint plug?

        • +1

          Yes.

      • +1

Thanks for the quick reply. I've bought one to test.

  • Could see this one on LED Benchmark.

What is the dimming performance like? Minimum Dimming? Linearity of dimming?

    • +2

Could? Or Couldn't see it on LED Benchmark?
That site has not reviewed a product in years. (Last product reviewed in 2015)

It will go down to about 16% with an AT9300 dimmer. (Tested by us, in house with a lux meter)

      Cheers, JD Lighting✨

      • yeah thanks, …missing the n't

Would you consider the dimming curve to be linear?

        • I wouldn't be expecting much for a $10 Led downlight. These things are so glarey

        • @richy_o: $20 Downlight don't you mean.
Yes, they are glarey by design, but it harder to fill the holes otherwise.

        • -1

@Steptoe: Just spend a bit more cash and get a good fitting where the lamp is recessed back with a good optic. These downlights are fine for toilets and places where good light doesnt matter. 'd never put these anywhere that needed good colour rendering and clarity.

  • Hello Rep,

I currently have the Atom at9033 model.
Do you know if your model (Atom AT8037) will be a compatible replacement and fit the ceiling cutout?
I wanted to buy few as a backup…

    • +3

      Hi Bappy,

Please see below the AT8037 dimensions:

      • Height: 61mm
      • Diameter ø: 115mm
      • Cut Out ø: 90mm

      And the AT9033 dimensions: (http://www.atomlighting.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/CA…)

      • Height: 58mm
      • Diameter ø: 115mm
      • Cut Out ø: 90mm

The AT8037 would definitely be a compatible replacement and perfectly fit your existing ceiling cutout 👍

  • do you have silver downlights? dimmable, 70mm cutout, with drivers as full kit.?

    • Hi Dreamzz!

I'd highly recommend the Martec Genesis Mini LED Downlight for your application.
Available in a Brushed Aluminium frame, with a 70mm cutout. Complete with a driver and a power-point flex and plug.

They are 8w and come with a 7 year replacement warranty.

      Thank you! JD Lighting✨

      • no need the flex plug, just the leads should be enough, as on the roof, mines doesnt have power plugs, just just covered with electric tapes.

  • How best to work out how many down lights are need and at what spacing for different rooms?

    • -2

If you don't have them already, don't install them.

  • +2

I have the 9028's throughout my house. 3000k colour is marvellous, I would definitely not move up the spectrum to a 4000K and I would avoid the 5000K at all costs unless you are putting them in a doctors surgery. Good quality lights by the look of it although they do take a few milliseconds after you hit the switch to them turning on (not a big issue). Very pleasant looking as you can not see individual LED's, just a uniform glow across the face of the light. The beam is also quite wide which is something that should be taken into consideration, 120deg on the 9028's from memory, the wider the better IMO and it appears the 8037's have a more narrow coverage at 90deg. I paid about the same price as this 8037 special and at the time it was well cheaper than anywhere else.

Disclaimer: I am referring to a slightly different model than what the OP is offering.

    • Some great feedback there @Cvas!
The AT9028 you have purchased are a brilliant downlight. Glad you love them. 👍

  • I'm interested in these after recently buying a house. We've got plenty of halogen downlights around the loungeroom and dining room (MR16 with dimmer) and kitchen (Gu10, 4 of which have already been converted to LED GU10 globes).
Considering the cost of a pack of 4 Osram Dimmable LED MR16 bulbs is $20 at Bunnings, I would expect that upgrading to these Atom 8037 would be more efficient in the long run due to the removal of the 240 to 12 v transformer in the ceiling.
What color LED do you recommend for typical lounge room, dining room, kitchen, bedroom?
These Atom 8037 LEDs do not have a heat-sink on them like others. Will this impact their long-term lifespan?

    • Mate if you want some tips send me a message. I'm a sparky and electrical engineer.

    • Hi!

Since you are replacing halogen lights, I would personally recommend the 3000k warm white as these will be the closest match to your existing downlights. The 4000k for you would be my next pick.

There will be a huge step down in running costs when going from your existing 35w-50w Halogen, down to the 8w.

As the AT8037 8w LED Chip board is actually mounted to an Aluminium heat-sink internally, which is then fitted to the polycarbonate frame (which also helps to dissipate the heat)
There should be no impact from this, compared to a model with a much larger heatsink, as these 8w LED's aren't generating a huge amount of heat (e.g., in comparison to a 15w version that requires a decent aluminium heat sink)

      Hope this helps!

    Ordered. Thanks!

    • Great to hear!
We'll make sure they get shipped for you ASAP! ✨

  • What is the difference to these? www.ebay.com.au/itm/222493680613

  • OP!

I am very impressed by your service here.

Can you please let me knowthe minimum cavity height into which these can be installed?

    Why?

I have a downstairs ceiling, under a wooden upstairs floor with only 120mm clearance, and don't want to cause a fire risk :)

    • Hi conka11,

The minimum distance between the top of the recessed luminaire and any building element above it (or HCB, Height Clearance to Building element) is 50mm, so you'll be perfectly fine with a 120mm clearance 👍

      • Thanks for the response.

        Wonderful! Count me in…

These are great "white" lights I installed 2 the other week with flex plug. There is also a version which has 3 switchable light settings (9039 8mm dimmable with integrated driver).

  • Hi JDLighting,

I am looking for replacing all lights by LED AT8037, as:
    1. Lounge: 6 units
    2. Dining: 2 units
    3. Meals and Family: 8 units
    4. Kitchen: 3 units

    The sketch https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/113086/48686/sketch.jp…

    The ceiling height is 2.2m-2.4m.

Anyone can help or suggest, much appreciate.

    • Looks like you need 19 lights and an electrician, whats your question?

    • Hi bargainfinder2013,

Thanks for your interest. Can you give me a bit more information about how you would like us to help you?
You can send me a PM or contact us directly through our website if you have some specific questions you'd like us to answer.

      Cheers, JD Lighting✨

  • Can I remove the flex on these and direct wire easily? ie just a couple of screws.
I have a couple of rooms that are not plug and play.

    • Hi RickOnOzBargain,
Just replied to your PM. Yes you can :)

  • pardon the ignorance, bt im assuming these are not suitable as replacements for traditional halogen downlight globes eg those with the two pins protruding eg something i can get at bunnings https://www.bunnings.com.au/philips-essential-35w-gu5-3-60de…

im looking to replace these types with dimmable LED versions. or is this not possible and i have to get the whole unit (not just the 'globe')

  • +1

    Just got mine…
They draw 9W. Just in case anyone cares.

  • Great light for the money, I'm surprised at how much I like the light it gives off. My only concern is replacing them when they eventually die, the bulbs are non replaceable and 90mm cutout is on the large size.

  • Hi JD, I would like around 50-55 LEDs. Was after daywhite. What does 5000k mean? Will glare go into eyes?
I would like dimmeble in 2 living and 3 bedrooms, will I need 5 dimmers? If so what model would suit with this?
