OMEN X 900-072a Specs

This retails at a whopping rip off of around $5500 cheapest I could find online was around $5100, at $3499 doesn't seem to bad for A high end gaming desktop, yes this doesn't suit those that can build there own.

As the hp site is not quoting the rrp May be able to negotiate a much better price, asked online for best price was told to call 132347 to see whats the best deal they can do

  • I wonder if it's cheaper to buy the case and fill it yourself?

It probably would be. At least give you freedom to choose your own components. It is similar to the tristellar (fancy expensive case) but this HP uses a micro ATX so you can run 2 video cards. Tristellar is mini ATX.

just a rough calculation not really worth buying the hp case & building it yourself
    $600 case
    $1400 dual 1080
    $240 512gb ssd
    $120 3TB
    $470 i7-6700k
    $250 motherboard
    $100 win10 home
    $160 16gb ram

    • $600 case

What case would you pay $600 for? Closer to $200.

      • The case in this product, I guess the main appeal is the case.

      • Or 75 if you want to slum it on the case - still a high perfoming case just to be clear but looks cheap. Hell a Coolermaster Masterbox 5 looks amazing and performs amazing and that's ~100 or less.

      $600 for case.
      $1000 for $1080 Ti.
$150 for uATX motherboard support for 7th gen Intel CPU with NVMe M.2.
      $475 for I7-7700K
      $160 16GB RAM
      $100 Windows 10
      $446 Samsung 960 Pro NVMe M.2 512GB SSD
      $120 3TB HDD

      $3,051 for a newer system.

Yes, about a 30% drop in FPS, but I think a single GPU is the better option when first building a system, if you want a boost later, slap in another GPU.

$4,051 total for the same system with 1080Ti x 2

SLI is just a daft idea to start with lol unless you specifically know a situation where it works well because your going to be dissapointed in how the majority of games play if your expecting 2 times performance or something - I think I'd aim for 1 x 1080 Ti instead.

Plus knock 500 bucks off that price for the case :D

  • +2

    Dual 1080's? Crikey.

  • Would be worth it if they were dual 1080ti's but even sli support is mediocre these days. Save the money and go single gpu.

      • +2

I dunno, I'd suggest that this statement from the link supports the "save the money and go single gpu" position.

"The boost is palpable in most supported titles, but it's still disappointing when key games like Just Cause 3, Forza Horizon 3 and Call of Duty Infinite Warfare do not support SLI at all, effectively meaning that your second £700-£780 GPU is sitting there doing nothing."

Edit: I can't decide if 'Uh not really' is supporting the "go SLI" or "go single" camp. :P

      • Watched that video lastnight, most of those games are old enough now to have decent sli support. I just went from 980ti sli to a single 1080ti and throughout the 2+ years I had a sli setup I found 3-9 months after a games release to be too long to wait for proper support.

Just a heads up as stated in post called chat they where willing to do it for $3149

    • called HP I mean^

  • -1

Wow. What a waste of money.

  • Seems to vary what price you get calling up.
Asked for best price and was first advised $3320
Mentioned others have been getting best price of $3149(~10% off), and they came back to me with lowest for today: $3254.07(7% off)

Size of the case is a bit off putting though.

    • just keep asking until they give a better deal, or wait for mid year sale could be reduced more if its still advertised, yeah rather it was in a standard desktop then a 28kg box lol, is a quality system for the price though..

      • I'd been putting off getting a machine too long, so bit the bullet. Maybe someone will want to buy the case. :)

        • congrats, think once you set it up you will like the case heaps of room to upgrade in the future, did you get $3149 in the end?

        • @RogueWolf: $3254.07 Operator just chuckled when I suggested she add the extended warranty for free when offered.

        • +1

          @kirky1: good price overall, enjoy..

If ur guys really wants it, try HPIEM400 for $400 off.

    • Nice one.. is that one off or can multiple people use it

    • Cheers! Cancelling my order and re-ordering. Works when applying to cart.
Brings it down to $3099, or $2999 for those who registered with AMEX cashback offer.
Then cash rewards would be $87.77 cash back.
