The stuff sold in Bottles has been brewed under license for a while. Used to be in Thailand, these days more often its China. The Asahi sold in the cans is still brewed in Japan as far as I know.

Good deal, Asahi is always in the 2 for 5 bin at my local bottle-o, yet 23 bucks for 6 in cardboard box (300 odd ml glass bottle).
