Hey there. Completed the free sample survey the other day and received my samples today so thought I might share it with you guys. It contains 3x4g sachets so it's good for anyone who wants to try something new!

WHAT REIZE IS:
REIZE is Australia’s and New Zealand’s first powdered energy drink. It is a functional beverage designed to boost energy levels, in powdered form. An on-the-go convenient energy mix that is set to change the way people get their energy drink fix.

REIZE is convenient, portable, versatile, sugar-free, lightweight and less than half the price of the popular “ready to drink” energy drink beverages. REIZE comes in convenient 4g sachets that mix with water, soda water, soda, juice, or even with your favourite alcoholic beverages for those night time pick-me-ups. It is sugar free, contains caffeine, taurine, ginseng and a mix of B-vitamins. REIZE is a pocketful of energy. REIZE is the face of an energy drink revolution down under.

    • -2

hmmm I wonder where that neg came from lol

      • +17

        Some negger…

        • +1

Ok ok, the answer is…. neggers!

        • +1

          Beach ash neggers

  • +6

    A truly terrible name.

    • +2

Ouch! Like a dagger through the heart.

We wish we cold say it hit us like a bolt of lightning, but really it came about through a Google Translate session. It is derived originally from the German word REIZEN (meaning excite or stimulate) but we also like the Dutch word REIZE (meaning travel or journey). All feelings and emotions that we associate with our drink, our company and our lifestyle.

It is pronounced Rise, which we also thought had cool associations with the drink.

      • +4

Probably should have called it Rise then.

        • +1

          Schnell, trademark that name!

        • Ricin?

  • +4

    Reize Energy Drink

How is Reize pronounced? Is it Re-Eyes or Re-izee?

    • +2

      Or how about just 'Rise'

      • +2

        Or Rayz?

    • Same question here

    • +10

      It's pronounced "Reize".

      • +2

        Thanks

    • +1

      'Reize Energy Drink'

Oh I can see what demographic they're going for.

People called Rylee, and Allarnah or Aayden?

      Am I too cynical?

  • +2

Only 50mg of caffeine, so need 3 to (almost) replace the caffeine in a 500ml can. Not that competitive if you look at it that way.

    • +5

      GREAT NEWS
If you switch to REIZE Energy Drink you will save
      $8 PER YEAR!
Just think of what you could do with all that cash.

  • +1

    What's the sweetener please OP?

    • +2

      Aspartame, acesulfame k.

    • +1

The ingredients list has: inositol (50mg)

Also has "Ace-K and Aspartame" as pikapika mentioned above. source: https://reize.com.au/reize-gfuel-australia/

      • +3

Aspartame is the cancer one yes?

        • They're all the cancer one. :-(

          www.sweetpoison.com

        • +3

@GregMonarch: haha thats great, have 3 free packets of cancer you lucky duck.

        • +1

          Yep. Was hoping for stevia.
          Oh well. Nothing lost.

        • +1

@Slippery Fish: Basically yes. I wouldn't touch this drink and i love how the article claims that GFuel isn't using natural stuff but still Reize themselves are doing just as bad. Erm..Artificial anything isn't natural. So even Reize claiming that they're healthier than GFuel is so laughable and beyond nieve of them to claim such a thing.

        • There is many out there these days but we still get this artificial BS..So, in the end it's just easier to go without.

        • +1

Thanks, will be throwing these out as soon as they arrive.

        • @nurries: no problem

        • +1

          @pikapika:
In their defence, they are saying that GFuel claims they are "all natural" when they aren't. I can't see anywhere they make a similar claim for their own product, so saying they are 'just as bad' is unrelated to the topic.

        • @Spazzwan:
Look more on their website not just in that article itself.

    • +8

Hi Guys. Aspartame is one of the most studied ingredients in history, and no link to cancer has been established. No government agency, cancer council or reputable scientific organisation has come to this conclusion. It has a long history of safe use and it is in thousands of products. Stevia might be OK also, but it doesn't have anywhere near the same level of testing or history of use. We drink REIZE ourselves, so if there was ever evidence of a risk we would change the ingredients ASAP.

There's a lot of mis-information on the internet, with no scientific basis. Have a read of this link for more info. https://sciencebasedmedicine.org/aspartame-truth-vs-fiction/

I hope you enjoy the samples.

      • -3

Yeah, okay. If it didn't cause any problems then there would be no need for the articles to exist but they do. Take it as you wish:
        http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2011/11/0…

        http://www.foodstandards.gov.au/consumer/additives/aspartame…

But I know I'll never recommend anything with Ace K or aspartame in it to others when I care about my friends/family health.

        • +3

They exist because of the community's unfounded fear of artificial sweeteners.

        • +5

Your first link is a genuinely awful website with appeals to emotion and horrendous bias (flogging their alt-health products all over the page).
Your second link confirms that aspartame did not produce cancer and there was no reason to revise the ADI for aspartame.

          Nice research.

      • -3

They said that about cigarettes for decades too. ;)
You can use what ever ingredients you see fit. But I won't touch aspartame.

        • +2

False equivocation mate. Cigarettes are dangerous ≠ aspartame is dangerous.

  • +1

How is this any different to the caffeinated variant of berocca?

  • Voost is 20c/80mg caffeine when it's on special

    • +1

Wait that has caffine in it? I've been taking the multi vitamin before bed

      • The "energy" one does :)

  • -7

How much energy, ie sugar, can you get in 4g?
    False advertising.

    • +1

      It is sugar free

    • +1

That's why I eat a pizza before I lift weights. More kilojoules = more power.

      /s

      • Energy != power :-)

  • +5

You could buy a Cenovis Mega B 250 tablets for $14.99 (Rounded to 6c a tablet)
    Contains :
    Vitamin B1 (Thiamine Nitrate) 50mg (Reize 10mg)
    Vitamin B2 (Riboflavine) 25mg (Reize 5mg)
    Vitamin B3 (Nicotinamide) 50mg (Reize 20mg)
    Vitamin B5 (Calcium Pantothenate) 50mg
    Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine Hydrochloride) 50mg (Reize 5mg)
    Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin) 50mcg
    Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) 100mg
    Biotin 50mcg
    Folic Acid 200mcg
    Inositol 50mcg (Reize 50mg)
    Choline Bitartrate 50mcg

    Nature's Own Korean Ginseng 500mg 50 tablets for $15.99 (31c a tablet)
    Ginseng 500mg (Reize 20mg)

Aldi Espressi 16 Pods for 5.99 (37c per pod)
    Caffeine 100mg (Reize 50mg)

So total is 74c per "serving"

Taurine is very debatable and most likely your better off without it

Also pretty crazy they let you order 600 drinks per month!

    • +1

Or just take caffeiene straight. I bought a bottle of 200mgx100 tabs from iherb for $6. I have all those other ingredients (that I use in my preworkout) and honestly they're all pretty useless. Taurine is also useless imo.

    • Hi Sammyboy. The high monthly quantities are for small retailers that want to on-sell REIZE.

  • +7

Caffeine content is a bit on the low side. However for caffeine newbies, it'll be a good energy hit.

But… for your average coffee/energy drink/preworkout powder addict, it's not much at all. You'd need like 2 or 3 packets to feel anything. You're better off just buying a bottle of caffeine, for example at iherb:

    https://au.iherb.com/pr/ALLMAX-Nutrition-100-Pure-Caffeine-E…

It has 100 tablets at 200mg (about 4x stronger than Reize and you can still cut them in half) for only about $6.

Taurine is great for endurance sports. Personally I love it - really helps with cramps and fatigue. You can also buy it in a bottle of 100 capsules for about $9 at the same strength as Reize. (To save even more, buy it in bulk powder form and weight it yourself)

The rest in Reize is just a B multi vitamin.

So if you want Energy but want to save, do yourself a favor and just buy a bottle of caffeine/taurine/b multi instead. It'll cost you about $30-40 max and will last about 3-4 months if you take it everyday.

    • +1

Any recommendations for the taurine (guessing https://au.iherb.com/pr/Nature-s-Life-Taurine-Powder-Unflavo… for powder form)& B multi vitamins (this is the list I got typing in the search bar https://au.iherb.com/search?kw=b+multi+vitamin)?

Thank you in advance for any recommendations to go along with the pure caffeine.

      • +2

I prefer Now Foods taurine powder brand because generally has better quality control. Read the reviews for Natures Life brand seem to have a lot of customers complaining about cystralised powder. Now Foods is slightly less bang for ur buck (227grams for $10.63 instead of 335grams for $12.65). But it's up to you.

For a decent B multi with a lot of extra goodies like vitamin C, D, folic and has a decent amount of B6 (to get better sleep), I recommend:

        https://au.iherb.com/pr/Nature-s-Bounty-Super-B-Complex-with…

        150 tablets for $14.57

        • +2

Thank you once again for you're informative input, time to purchase! Saving & getting bang for buck is always good, but sometimes quality overrides that mentality.

    • +3

Hey plasmoske! You're spot on, the caffeine in a sachet of REIZE is lower than other Energy Drinks. It is what we consider to be the sweet spot of energy boost (in marketing terms = 'Optimal Boost', enhancing focus and stamina, without overshooting the mark resulting in the jitters or scattered thoughts. Obviously it's a personal thing. If someone has a high tolerance to caffeine, they can mix up two sachets. But we think a really high tolerance to caffeine comes from drinks (coffee and energy drinks) that contain too much in the first place. At moderate levels, caffeine has a lot of benefits.

We must say, we are impressed by your commitment to saving money, and we can't compete with that. But we think a big selling point of REIZE is the fact that it's a very tasty drink that you can mix to your own preference. Tablets will do the trick, but don't seem as enjoyable to us! But each to their own, it sounds like you have got your sports supplements dialled very nicely.

I have a running sub with reize and it is great for me. It is delicious which encourages me to drink more in the morning (I hate drinking water in the morning and not doing so was giving me migraines), it is cheaper than what I was buying (at least one bottle of pepsi max a week but usually more) and I just plain like the company. I'm sure that this is the exact reason they do it but when I subscribed they sent me a personalised email thanking me for signing up and in my third month of subscription they sent me a little thermos cup just out of the blue. As a millennial who buys things off ebay and amazon and other such impersonal organisations I really like the change of their super personalised approach.

    • $1.30/drink for 30 vs. $1.1/1.25L of pepsi max? How is it cheaper?

      • +1

I have a sub so it is about 80c a drink and I was buying the pepsi before work so it was like $5 a bottle for the 600ml. So yea, cheaper.

        • +10

          $5 a bottle for the 600ml

Please hand in your OzBargain membership.

  • "REIZE is Australia’s and New Zealand’s first powdered energy drink"

So I was just using my imagination when using powdered Gatorade/Powerade/etc back in the 90's?
Or are they not "energy drinks" anymore?

    • Gatorade is American. I think they are saying that Reize is an Australian/NZ company making powdered energy drink.

    • +2

      They're sports drinks.

    • +4

Gatorade/Powerade isn't really marketed as a energy drink nor is it even a energy drink.

It's more of a nice tasting drink (with potassium and sodium) to help speed up recovery (helps replace fluid & electrolytes lost due to vomiting, diarrhoea, heavy sweating etc). It contains no stimulants at all in it.

An energy drink has stimulant(s) in it (for example: caffeine) to help boost alertness.

Both different products. For example, you wouldn't drink Gatorade to help wake you up and you certainly shouldn't drink an energy drink to help recover from a heavy workout (your adrenaline is going, your heart is pumping already, so it's not a good idea to add caffeine to the mix).

    • Ah ok, I get it - ignore me then :)

  • Came today, Tastes pretty good.

    • Mine also arrived today. Haven't tried it yet.

      • The thing mixes really well itself.

  • +1

    Mine also arrive today

  • Got mine in the mail. Damn, props to you Reize guys for the dedication to your marketing. The envelope and stuff inside are high quality. Going to report in tomorrow to see how the sample goes before the gym!

  • Got it couple days ago in nicer envelop than I expected. Haven't tried it yet though. Thanks op

  • Got mine will report how it is after a workout

  • Quite a delicious drink.

  • I love these. Nice tasting, dissolves really fast, and is convenient to carry with me to Uni. I like the 'light' caffeine ammount, has about the same kick as one of those small cans of redbull. I wish they had a few options tho, like a 'double shot' with extra caffeine (for Mondays) or a different flavour. I'm also curious if you can order a large amount then cancel, like buying in bulk rather than subscribing… anyone had experience with ordering?
