Registered (7-30 days) AU$7.87

DHL
DHL Express (3-7 business days) AU$21.90

Also tells me that you get a free gift (phone stuff, cable, misc junk stuff worth $1-6) at checkout.

Great price but if you're interested, keep in mind that these have to stream through the Mi Home app unless flashed.

    • Flashed? How does one do this? I don't want my video feeds going through some server in China.

EDIT: AlphaJ has a link to the instructions below.

  • +6

Is this the Chinese domestic or international model?

  • Just wondering is there anyway to view multiple streams? And how would you flash this.

    • From banggood description page "At the same time bound multiple XiaoFang, can show all the footage on the same screen, mobile phone"

      • Thanks I must have missed that.

  • +8

I bought some of these from a previous sale. I could never get it to work, everything was in Chinese and I don't speak Chinese! Could not get it to connect.

    • Google Translate app

      • How to set that up on printed material or pages?

        • +1

          it works on photos/images

        • +4

Run Google Translate App on your phone. Select languages ( Chinese -> English). Tap on "Camera" icon (bottom left on the "tap to enter text" field). Follow the instructions.

    • +15

Download the mi home app and set up an account. Say you're in mainland china ehne it asks your location. Press and hold the reset button on the camera until it makes a sound and then it should show up in the mi home app. Follow the prompts and configure it to use your home wifi. It will then show a qr code in the app. Put that in frobtbof the camera and it should say something in Chinese. Wait a minute or 2 and you should be able to view the camera in the mi home app. Sorry if the instructions are a little vague, I'm going from memory.

Sounds like too more dickin around than its worth. If you want a legit home security cam shell out for a decent one from amazon.

        • Get the yi home security camera instead, they are a bit more expensive and made by xiaomi as far as I know

        • +1

I got these and don't speak a word of Chinese. If you've ever set up a wireless device before, you'll be fine. You just need to set the app to Mainland China and the rest is straightforward. App is translated, mostly, into (broken) English. Menus aren't the most intuitive but camera quality is okay, 2 way audio works great for listening. Speaking is hit or miss.

        • @humbala:

they are a bit more expensive and made by xiaomi as far as I know

They're made from Yi Technology who get funding from Xiaomi ;)

      • Thanks. I've managed to get the two connected with my android phone. Only thing now is I cant view anything, they just say '(1/3) CONNECTING' and that's as far as they get. Am I missing something? Wifi is not a problem here and everything is very close?

    • I initially couldn't set it up at all using my K3 Note, ipad 2, and two HP tablets. I had to use an old Android phone for set up, but could then use the other devices for viewing, settings, etc.

yeah the postage may take 7-45 days, but it won't be sent for 7-45 days. So you'll don't count on it being delivered before June.

    • I placed an order on the 15th March, then heard nothing from them for over a week. Got an email from them on the 27th March saying order has been shipped.
Still waiting for my order to arrive as of today …

      • Had a friend who bought one on ebay recently for less then this, got it within a week. I'll have ask whoch seller.

At least they're better then DX. Who give fake tracking numbers (that was with Toll) then claim the shipment was stopped at customs & it wasn't their fault (even though Toll have no record of the consignment!).

Back to banggood, gearbest & aliexpress

  • +1

Cheaper than previous deal when I bought one.

    Good camera

  • Ignore me

    • Sad face :(

I can't choose the standard post instead it forces me to choose the registered post or DHL. Did anyone experience the same issue?

    • +2

Yep I had the same issue.

Regular non tracking (Temporary unavailabe for high value order)
      HONGKONG POST - (7-45 DAYS) AU$4.55

There is no option to select regular post.

Once registered shipping is added, think I'm better off buying from aliexpress. Found a seller for $22USD (< $30AUD) shipped.

    • +5

I had the same issue but had a little play with the webpage's HTML code and replacing a single word got things working.

      STEPS (Google Chrome):
      1. Add item to cart and click "View Cart & Checkout"
      2. At the cart it would say "Regular non tracking" is unavailable. Underneath the "Registered with tracking" shipping option, right click on the round select button and click on "Inspect" See screenshot here
      3. A window will appear on the right side of the browser. Double click on the circled code (see screenshot here).
      4. Replace the last word "registered" with "standard. So it should read "zentech_shippinghkpost_standard". Hit enter and close it. If you're confused, see this
      5. Now select Hongkong Post. Though it says $7.87 next to the button, the order total will read $4.55 and it allow you to place the order with the cheaper standard shipping method :)

I tried these steps and just successfully made an order at $29.72 ($27.34 after CashRewards). These steps will be useful if anyone faces this issue when purchasing from Zapals.

      • cheers. bought one with standard shipping

  • +8
    • Thanks

    • Sweet. Thanks for that. I bought one at the last sale and it's been sitting idle in my shed waiting for custom firmware.

    • +1

So what are the benefits of this?

Just a way to be able to get the images/video copied via the network to some other storage location on your network?

Or will these hacks add some access for things such as IFTTT or Home Assistant?

      • +3
        • Wow, thanks for this, the value I place, rather placed on Xiaomi has just dropped considerably.

Edit: I will not be buying one of these because of this

Edit2: Looks like the original iSmartAlarm "Spot" cameras can now be used by IFTTT https://ifttt.com/ismartalarm

        • +2

@oz-stef: You won't be buying one… despite being given a really easy solution to the only problem you have for it?

          Yeah that makes perfect sense.

        • @Deviner:

          It does to me :P

Really though this was what decided it for me:

          https://github.com/samtap/fang-hacks#background
"As long as you don't completely disable the cloud apps (DISABLE_CLOUD=1), you can always revert to original behavior by simply removing the sd-card. When cloud apps are disabled and no boot scripts are found on the sd-card (i.e. when it's not inserted), nothing is started when the device boots so you will not be able to access it through the web-interface, telnet, etc."

        • @oz-stef: You can disable the cloud apps and you can use it like any normal camera once you have an sdcard with the scripts on it inserted.

I don't see what the problem is?

      • +3

With the hack you can enable RTSP and use any viewer rather than being tied to the Xiaomi app.

        • So once you enable RTSP how do you view the camera when not on the same WIFI network on an IOS device?

        • +1

          @mr2ns:
get a domain for your dynamic IP address via noip.com, turn on dynamic DNS, and use port forwarding on your router.

        • @pinchies:
I haven't found any firmware hacks that enable some form of authentication to access the rtsp stream tho.

Is there one available? With fanghacks's RTSP, basically anyone on the net could access the stream without password once you open up the ports.

        • +1

          @techdave: yep.

The only secure way is to setup a vpn Server at home which allows you to access your home network remotely.

Not sure why people are worried by chinese clouds over western clouds. Same issues, different govt spying. At least the chinese govt is less likely to share anything with our govt.

    • Cheers for the link.
Still learning this stuff but once I get it up and running thru something like ispy will be sweet.

  • +23

    Do I need one? No.
    Did I buy one? Yes.

  • +3

    Free shipping code please!!!

  • Still waiting on mine from LighInTheBox. Paid $50aud for it oops

  • +1

anyone flash these and use with iSpy software (www.ispyconnect.com)? I'm running an old FOSCAM to a sever with this, just want to add a few more cheap cameras.

    • It definitely looks like the same camera, I am interested in knowing this also

  • +1

I run 2 of these bad boys using fang-hacks. They run great and work well with software needing RTSP streams (like Zone Minder)

  • I should also get a micro-sd card. Although I'm also planning to configure the camera to store video to a local hard drive.
What size for the micro-sd card?

    • max 64 says somewhere

  • +2

good app to run / view these cameras remotely ?

  • I have 3 of these running and they are a great camera and IR vision works well. However recently they have been going offline quite a bit and the only way to resolve this was to hard reset. Anyone seen this before or have a resolution? Thanks!

    • I got 4 and two keep doing it and I don't know how to fix it…

  • other product to consider
    bought one

    • +1

Your link goes to a wall charger….

      • Yes, it's in the sale too.

        • might be dumb question, but is this Australian plug?

EDIT: Just saw its US Plug

  • +2

If anyone is having difficulty purchasing with the standard $4.55 shipping, see my above comment here

  • My order has arrived…

    • after how many days? your order date please?

      • +1

        Ordered April 18, 2017
        Shipped April 20, 2017

  • Anyone's order still processing?
Ordered it on the 20th (9 days ago)

    • I ordered on the 20th and it got shipped on the 26th.

    • Just an update. I received it in the mail after 36 days

  • So are these things meant to be weather Proof and all that ?

anyone got any working coupons ?

    • +1

Not at all, these are targeted to indoors, as they (seem to) work as smoke detectors as well.
They still seem to go for about AUD25 plus postage, I do not believe that a coupon was required.
You can bind 2 together for a wide field view, the associated app will "stitch" the video.

      • ah no worries didnt think so just ntoiced they were compared to othero outdoor cams in the opening post

Regardless i have a different order i want make that is on the larger size which is why i asked if there are any working vouchers :)
