  • Pic of the Pro in that deal seems to be a pic of the slim - both look the same. I assume the pic is not an official ad?

    • +1

It's just an in store ad. Its definitely the Pro at that deal/price

  • What is the main difference between the pro and slim version? Seem like a lot of price difference??

    • +4

The Pro has more powerful hardware so games are enhanced for those who are interested in better graphics.
Similar to how PC has Medium/High/Ultra settings for graphical fidelity.

      • +5

I'm in the market myself so I've been asking these questions. It's important to note that unlike PC, the higher spec PS4 won't automatically give better performance - it has to be patched into each game, and the benefits vary.

A decent roundup of the situation: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/every-ps4-pro-game-that-is…

So for me, and the 32" 1080p TV I'm still rocking, a Slim would probably be a better buy.

        • +8

not true - most games with unlocked frames, or failing to achieve their frame rate target will benefit somewhat from boost mode - http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2016-ps4-pr…

        • +4

@jo b: Well I stand corrected! Although it looks like the results are quite varied, more frames are always welcome.

        • @gruso:
Get the Pro over the slim, better value in the long run to not have a gimped experience ;)

        • @promethbastard: had the pro since day one, it is without a doubt the absolute balls.

Originally games needed a patch to take advantage and some games unfortunately they did not do much with the pro patching (skyrim) while others it was like the difference between night and day.

I swap between a 1080p screen (computer screen) and a 4k tv next to it (until mrs wants to watch tv). In the begining it was just great seeing it look amazing at games on the tv whether it was boosting to 4k (some games actually do native 4k, rare at this stage tho), games also looked great mixed up to it as well.

I found many other games patched for it working even faster on 1080, rise of the tomb raider for example boosts the quality, shadows and textures look amazing and run even faster in 1080.

Since the boost mode became available i've found many games such as ghosts and just cause running so much faster.

So definitely go pro if you can afford it.

  • +1

Nice Pro deal, very tempting to pull the trigger. Thx

    • +1

Yeah, very tempting for me as well, but I feel like I should hold out until E3. Maybe there will be a price drop or good sale due to Scorpio?

      • +6

You can always wait longer and there will always be a further reduction or a better deal.
I suppose in the end it is about you feeling comfortable with the deal. I guess this one will do for me.

        • +6

Unless you wait too long. And then you pay a premium for retro stuff.

I knew I should have used that pocket money and bought that Super Nintendo back in May 1996!

  • It’s the murphy’s law of console shopping. When you think 3 games bundled was plenty a good deal, they throw in a triple A exclusive for the same price a week after you’ve bought it.

Already traded away all the games I got from the good but inferior bundle, and HZD was the only game I really wanted but couldn’t find a trade for. Lol, truly frustrating…

Hopefully more people get this bundle and flood the market with cheap new copies of HZD…

  • +2

Any chance target would let you trade these for other games?

    • Three comments in three years.

          You could say he's a…ghost

        • +8

          @Michael15286: but now… he's gone rogue

        • +2

@Cooties: Now there's a twist I did not see coming!

    • +2

Great jokes here but no answer to your question. I asked at Target, no option to trade games.

  • Are we able to call stores in advance to determine stock. Interested in that 1TB Slim bundle.

    • Just as an FYI I've called two stores and they don't have any of the deals in their system. Including the catalogue ones. I guess it's just check on the day.

  • Anyone have any suggestions on best trade in deal locations for a 500GB PS4?

  • Well (profanity) me, ordered the 1TB with Horizon Zero Dawn from Big W for $390 in the recent eBay sales :P
Anyone have much luck with returning Big W eBay purchases?

    • if you mean the Pro then I will be happy to take it off your hands

  • YES! I knew waiting would be worth it. I was hoping the 4 game deal mentioned last week would be H:ZD and here it is, in all of its glory.

  • Would JB price match this? Does anyone know?

    • +2

Support the store who's having the sale bro, atleast until they're out of stock

      • Try getting returns at Target for games that are shit.

    • I just asked. They will not.

      • +1

I got my local JBHIFI to price match yesterday without any issues.

        • Maybe I was unlucky. I was told point-blank, "We will not price match Target." Did you get the pro or the slim?

        • @Ashurei:
I was told they received official emails from HQ that they will not price match Target's deal.

    • My local was happy to price match.

  • A pretty sweet deal. And I'm someone that hasn't had a Sony console since the PS2. Am tempted…quite a few PS exclusives I want to play now.

  • +5

Got the console by itself with only HZD on top for about the same price a few months ago. But you know what, I don't regret it one bit. Prices will always drop. Bundles will always get cheaper.

But the experience of playing that game and the memories I now have are priceless. It's stupid to keep waiting to find something $10 cheaper. You want it. Go get it.

    • +12

Agree with you for the most part, only one thing you’re forgetting, we’re on ozbargain – where great experiences can be bought for less. In fact getting a bargain itself is an experience that provides an intangible and tangible sense of joy.

      • A tangible sense of joy? ReallY/

        • +4

if a fatter wallet doesn't give you a tangible sense of joy, then you sir, may be loitering on the wrong part of the world wide webz.

      • Agreed. Getting a good bargain is the equivalent of getting your rocks off.
Well to me it is anyway.

        • +1

          Well, this got weird quick.

  • i'll be happy to buy HZD off someone who doesn't want it in WA for $40, send me a PM.

    • Me too! From Sydney. PM me.

    • +2

its easily worth $50 maybe more second hand.

      • Agree. One can easily sell HZD to CeX for $50, sealed or not.

  • no persona = no boner

  • Tempting..definitely now considering HZD is included.

  • I wonder if EB will match this deal. I have normal PS4 to trade in..

    • Most likely no but it could also be store specific. Good luck.

  • Up vote if you waited instead of jumping in on the earlier deal :)

    • You cant even jump on the earlier deal considering it starts tomorrow

  • +3

1tb slim with 2 controllers and hzd is a great deal.

I would have bought that had I not got an almost identical deal off Gumtree for $200 this week, still under warranty as it's only a month old.

I know this but may not go down so well with some here but I see a lot of comments on deals like this from people who are on the fence about pulling the trigger or waiting longer for a better deal after e3 or eofys or the release of a new model etc.

All valid concerns but if this is a hobby of yours that you get a lot of enjoyment out of then is a saving of possibly $10-50 on a deal worth close to $400 worth the wait of hoping another deal comes along? What if it's two months away before seeing another good deal? Is that time spent keeping an eye out for a deal, ensuring stock availability, etc worth it?

    • +1

unlikely a hobby, if they're holding out on buying a ps4 till now…or for $10-50. For me it was a if-I-have-nothing-better-to-do kinda purchase, so getting a good bargain actually gives me better overall satisfaction.

  • About bloody time on the Pro deal with Horizon, can't believe there haven't been more since release. Shame about the other three games, but you can't have everything I guess. If EB will match and trade my old gear, I'm in.

  • Would other places like jb hi fi, big w
    or eb games price match?

    • I know that eB games doesn't price match bundles can't speak for the other retailers but I would say probably not for them too, give it a try and report back

  • PS4 Pro and 4 games I don't have at a great price. This is a good enough deal to flush me out of my PC gaming stronghold. Damn you OP! ;)

    • +1

Now now.. Don't stray to far..

      • -1

Especially when all those games except HDZ are on PC

        • HZD in full HDR @ 4K glory on my 65" OLED TV is still sorely tempting.

  • I bought the ps4 pro with 3 games from target last week (Wed). Any chance they will honour me the horizon Zero Dawn?

    • +1

get the new bundle then return the old bundle?

  • Wow one week is a long time at Target. Ridiculous but good luck to those who waited.

  • Weeee… thanks Borat!
By the way if my shop doesn't have the stocks (ie. don't have all the 4 games), will they be able to order them in for me? Or what's the general procedure?

    • The ad says no rainchecks so no.

  • God i hope my local target gets stock. I might see if JB Hifi will match the offer though.

  • Does this start tomorrow?

  • Anybody have an idea what i can get by trading in those games except hzd into eb?

  • My wife just asked about this deal in our local target and was told it starts on Saturday, not Thursday.

    • Starts Thursday 100%

XBOX One deal starts Saturday (will post that offer later today)

      • I rang 3 Targets and none of them know about it. I asked if I brought in the PDF attached would they honour it and they told me only if it's in the catalogue. Is it worth calling again tomorrow?

        • My wife got the same info re the PDF. ie. They will only honour the deal if it is in an active catalog, which it is currently not. Will check again tomorrow morning for a new catalog to be released.

        • @Ozstache:
What store was this? They may have missed the internal comms that went out last night for this deal…

        • @boratsagdiyev: Queanbeyan

        • Just called Bondi Junction and was told I can come tonight to pick one up. Will check it out after work.

        • @boratsagdiyev: Mine was Chatswood and Broadway.

        • @H22A:
are they open at midnight or will they sell on Wednesday?

        • +1

@thelastnoob: they were open till 8pm. Managed to pick up a bundle. They said they had 3 left but could be getting more?

        • @H22A:
amazing they usually refuse to sell until the date of sale
          well done

        • @H22A: did u get zero horizon dawn as well? I rang Bondi store this morning and the guy said he can't find it

        • @kenison: yeah got the 4 games as listed above. I noticed they didn't have any copies of HZD in the shelves, even though they said they had 3 bundles left. So make sure you ask for availability of the bundle.

        • +1

@H22A: Just picked one up in Carlingford, and by the looks of it as long as they scan the game, controller and console together at the same time, the price gets applied automatically rather than coming bundled in a single box or package.

Worth noting that a) Carlingford is now out of copies of Horizon, so probably won't have any luck there any more and b) the second controller MUST be a red one or the discounted price doesn't show up.

  • This is an awesome deal especially if you don't already have those games.

  • Will this be in Tasmanian target stores?

  • I got this deal from target this morning.
So I want to sell that 4 games for $150. Brand new
Is that good deal? Burwood pick up

  • +1

Hi, just called Wetherill Park and they know nothing of this deal.
How can I get the deal if I can't see it online or in a catalogue?

  • +1

Just called up my local and while they had the pro bundle they said they never heard about the slim bundle. :(

    • Which store and was it the 4 game pro bundle or the 3 game?
My store had the 3 game bundle but not including the horizon game.

      • Waurn Ponds. I'm not sure, sorry, but unless they're the same price it was the 4 game bundle since she mentioned it was $559.

    • +2

You have too show them the picture, and ask them scan these item for you. It will come count 559. I got it this morning

      • I want the slim, not the pro. Judging from the store's response to my call, I doubt even showing them the PDF would convince them that this deal exists.

    • +1

Called a few stores till i finally got a break. Tell them that the deal is a tactical offer (ie its not in the catalogue) because aparently most staff look at the catalog and just give up at that point

      • I did mention that it was an in-store only offer and that I saw the PDF of the signs that they print out and put up in the stores, but still got nothing. I would try another store but I'm pretty sure the only other one in my area has cleared out most of their gaming section; I don't recall seeing any consoles last time I was there. Do you think it's worth giving them another call?

Edit: Called the other store. Staff member there confirmed the slim bundle showed up on their system but they didn't have any in stock and advised me to call the Customer Service line. Customer Service denies knowledge of the deal. This is actually ridiculous. Side note, the flat "Oh." from the CS rep when I said I saw the deal on OzBargain made me snicker.

Edit part deux: CS called back acknowledging deal is legit but none of the stores anywhere near me have stock. JB Hifi it is. Good luck to anyone else seeking the slim bundle because you're going to have a fun time convincing people that you're not full of BS.

  • No luck just now at Springfield Orion qld. Don't have all the games and have nothing to say that Horizon is now included.

    • +2

You can try Forest lake qld, i just bought the slim bundle, but i saw they advertised the other pro deal too ;)

  • +2

Thanks for the deal just picked one up from Tea Tree Plaza SA….Guy at counter checked the catalog first which only showed 3 games but I told him that there should be HZD included too and he checked their system.

  • +1

Queanbeyan Target came through with the deal for me this morning. They even had the right sale flyer printed out and on display.

  • This deals actually the best for the pro.
