umk

Previous deal marked as expired but this code seems to still work and is listed in the description of the UMK435.

Free NSW delivery on orders over $500. Free pickup available at their store in Dee Why.

Bought UMK425U (bike handle) delivered for $609.

Code still works for UMK425 (loop handle) making it $429.99 but will incur a $20 NSW delivery fee. Go in with someone else to get 2 and free delivery or add some other gear I guess.

UMK435L $659.
UMK435U $729.

Can pickup from their shop at Dee Why (Sydney).

Delivery is not a typical courier, it is delivered ready to use, oiled, half a tank of fuel, line loaded, handle fitted. They even gave me a run down on changing to the brushcutter head and started it to show me how.

Overall, very impressed!

Hopefully they are OK with me listing it on here, apologies to all if it gets pulled, but I thought it was worth a start.

Does a straight shaft make it easier to get through a thick bush?

    • Less effort than if you have a bent shaft.

      • I find it the opposite way around.

It all comes to the technique you use and arm strength.

I suggest people borrow or even hire one to find which style is most somfortabke to them.

          I'd never handle someone else's shaft. It's a hygiene thing…

    • I find bend shaft lighter than straight shaft. Being lighter it causes 'recoil' when getting through thicker bush. However if you thrust forward, you should be able to penetrate through the bush.

        Pun intended?

    • I find that a bent shaft is for more light duty work such as around the home and garden.
If you hit something hard and break the inner chain shaft, it's harder to fix.
the straight shaft is for more heavy duty work plus it can handle a larger blade as it has a direct drive from the motor.
you may find that 90% of true brush cutters have a straight shaft and a lot more ballsy ie; less kick-back when hitting thicker scrub.
i currently use a 43cc engine brush cutter (generic brand) and my brother purchased this honda model last week for $629 (bull horn handles). The honda 4-stroke does the same job as mine and works first pull of the chord EVERY time!
This brush cutter is a great model and nowhere near as loud as mine

    • Can you use it to trim the hedge?

      • Im not sure these have the attachments that the 6in1 or 9in1 cheaper generic sets have. If you want to put a circular blade on and have a go, it might look like a halloween project gone wrong.
i haven't used a brush cutter to trim hedges as i use hand snips……..BIG ONES! To make them nice and square
if you want the pole saw attachments along with the other stuff, you may have to email honda or ask a sales person if its possible because i dont know, sorry

  • Was selling for $499

Edit. Sorry didn't notice this is the bigger engine model.

Wait, are we talking lawns or women here?

  • Looks like regular prices to me. Plenty of places sell cheaper, this is without even trying to bargain yet.

    UMK435L(allmowers.com.au) $659
I picked this up on sale few months ago for $425.79

    • Damned, that is a bargain! Does that include delivery deep into NSW?
Also where was your post a few months ago when I started shopping for one? :-)

    • Found it. 31/12/2015 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/228305 Actually was the umk425L you listed for $499. I think $429 16 months later is a fair post :-)

      • Yeah my bad. Time goes so fast!

  • Overall, very impressed!

I can see that, it's done a great job on your haircut.
