    Also hell yeah, great price

    • +5

      Fixed! Sorry, brain fart.

      • +45

Why did you call britta a brain fart

        • +5

Will let it slide due to sick deal notification

        • +4

          this totally made my day

        • @rustysnail26:

You must be easy to please

        • Really britta'd that one up

    • It's at Dungeon Crawl for $65 if you don't mind waiting for next day delivery.
(also not associated with DC at all)

Been using DC for a while now and they're not a big chain store.

  • +3

    Awesome, thanks!

I wonder what the price will be at Big W…
They seem to always undercut Target by a few dollars so I think perhaps $59?

  • Cannot wait! :)

  • +1

    Sweet. Thanks

  • +8

Deluxe means the carts come with wood panels on the sides right?

    • +2

Nah you get a soundtrack that nobody ever asked for

      • +1

and a battle mode that everyone did

  • +2

Sweet. Thats a day 1 purchase for me. Hope BigW beats it! $59?

  • +1

Wonder if they'll offer any console bundles with this

    • +1

Retailers may as separate items, it will take a while for Nintendo to release as a bundle in the same box.

    • +1

It was leaked that some regions are getting bundles. I suspect they'll be some in AUS too or you can get online maybe. Kind of wished they waited until MK9 but i guess the remix deluxe will help push some units.
1 2 Switch and Zelda are pushing the systems at the moment. Both games have had some bundles as well. You'll see alot of different bundles going forward.

  • +13

So tempted but can't justify paying $62 again after buying it for the wiiu :/

    • +3

      Sure you can!!!!

    • +3

Being able to hold 2 items at once and the new battle mode makes it worth purchasing again for me!

Can't get rid of my Wii U copy, got the voice of Mario to sign it.

    • well it'll never be cheaper than $60, maybe in 5 years :)

    • +2

      Yeah, wait for 9 maybe.

  • Was already day 1 at $79 having skipped the wiiu! Can't complain at $62, 58.90 with TM discount!

    • +2

The Wii U version was great, best MarioKart I'd ever played. Never did the DLC but I hear it was great as well.

Will repurchase when I eventually get around to a Switch as well :)

    • +10

      Don't buy it then

    • +4

You should see how much people pay for old final fantasy games… Looks at collection

  • +2

Ebgames normally would price match. I did that on zelda

    • -8

Ebgames wouldn't price match if their life depended on it

      • We shall see. Will report here if it works. Of course if ppl still sees this thread by then. Its still freakin 2 weeks away

      • Electronic Boutique?, more like Electronic BOOtique

        I shall see myself out

        • -5

Don't let the door hit ya, where the good lord split ya.

    • +16

Yep. They price match. But buy it instead at Target. If no one actually buys the game there, what incentive is there to keep discounting games.

      • +5

I agree, they will price match, though they don't deserve the business, unless you really want the membership carrots.

      • People will buy from Target regardless cos other reasons, but if its sold out quick at Target then no one can price match

    • -1

I don't get the hate on EB. My local has no problems price matching. I pre-order and then get them to price match on pickup. Super easy with no early line ups and rushing in with a bunch of adults to Big W to try and snag a copy (I may have done this for MK8 on Wii U).
If your EB won't price match find another that will!

      • +20

The point is if you buy it from the places who discount it from the get-go, you're supporting businesses that offer the discount. If everyone saw a $100 game for $79 at Target, and price matched instead, Target thinks "oh ok, nobody is buying games anymore I guess" and stops selling them. EB Games sells at retail because competition is gone.

This is a drastic example, obviously, but that's the theory. Plus, MANY EB Games are dodgy with price matching - you can only price match at most stores when the place you're price matching is in the same centre, and in stock. So why support EB? Like others said, maybe for the carrots (whatever they actually do).

Also some people would rather buy local than "finding another EB store that will price match", takes away the point of convenience and supports the business that is not supporting them.

        • +2

          Perfectly articulated.

        • +3

          You do have a point.

At one stage, Kmart/Target even Big W and Hardly Normal sell heaps of Console Games/Amiibos and now they are barely selling any. Soon Hardly Normal will stop selling games altogether judging by the ranges they currently have.

But for many of them, I think they are exiting console games anyway.

It's now down to JB Hifi, Ebgames, and On line traders.

I am not sure what can be done but this time I'll buy MK8 Deluxe from Target Australia or Big W.

  • +2

Just cancelled my OzGameShop order of $67.99 plus the wait time on shipping probably would've killed me too.. Thanks OP!

  • I platinumed Mario Kart 8 on Wii U

Can i transfer my save yet?

(I dont own a Switch yet)

    • +1

      No

    • +1

Hah, I don't think Nintendo even know what cloud saves are.

Nearly everything is unlocked from the start at least

      • I noticed the DLC in Wii U version is unlocked in the Switch version

      • +2

Worryingly it appears Nintendo doesn't know what backing up any game save data at all is as far as Switch atm but let's hope that changes.

        • -1

I don't think Nintendo know what the Nintendo Switch is :)

    • Saw the word platinum and thought you got the platinum trophy, then I'm like when did Mario Kart 8 hit PlayStation, then I realized the obvious, then I wrote this comment, then I said then again, and then I went away.

  • Will pick it up at Target then, thanks!

  • +1

Do BigW or Target take preorders??

    • Not officially, though ask the dudes there. My local Target is putting one aside for me on launch day.

  • +2

Would love it for the revamped battle mode alone but can't justify buying it again. Any idea what the trade in value for the Wii U version is?

    • +1

Ebgames is still running special like $269 if u trade in wii u or somethin.

      • +1

I already have a Switch and I'd like to keep my Wii U, just want to know if it'd be worth trading in the Wii U version of MK8 for the Switch version.

        • +1

          I traded the Wii U version of MK8 and I think I got $15.

        • @trippy:

Do you think they'd do trade in + price matching?

        • +1

@Kritter2069: they will, but sell the game online first, you will get double.

        • @trippy: poor you

      • Edit: My bad i misinterpreted your question. My mario kart 8 wii u only fetched $15 or $16.

        • Really? I dumped Amazing Spider-Man 2 Wii U on them the other day, a nothing game if there ever was one, and that was 16.50. That is ridiculous!

  • How will multiplayer work? There are already original and DLC modes on Wii U…deluxe adds 16 tracks but also the 2 items. I wonder if they will add 2 items to Wii U to prevent fragmenting the online players. Maybe not, but then the switch might need to drop to one item in the Wii U modes.

    • +2

Are you saying there's cross platform play? I haven't seen that info anywhere?

    • +3

There will not be cross play between Switch and Wii U

    • +1

      Different networks

  • +3

I pre-ordered it from JB Hi-Fi last month, was only out of pocket $22.50. Got $40 worth of JB vouchers from Purkle surveys, and $20 worth from News.com.au surveys.

    • how do you get involved in them?

    • And how

    • +1

I feel you, I just got a $20 buck one from my survey site, and expecting another 20 to come through soon. All of a sudden it's not so dumb that I'm rebuying a game I already have.

    • Just received a price drop notification email from JB Hi-Fi, saying that they were refunding me $10. So I really paid $12.50! :D

  • So how many games is that for the Switch now?

    • +3

      only one - Zelda. lol

      • +2

I'd jump in to defend the shit out of Fast RMX, but since it's just an enhanced version of a Wii U game at it's core, I have to agree.

On mine I've got Metal Slug 3, which is a Neo Geo game. King of Fighters 98, another Neo Geo. Fast RMX, a Wii U redo. Shovel Knight, which you can get anywhere. And Blaster Master Zero, a HD remake of an NES game you can also get on 3DS.

Throw in Zelda and Mario Kart and you've got another 2 Wii U ports which brings the grand total of kick ass Switch games to 0, with a side of a few ports.

        • -1

I agree, since all video games are just enhanced versions of pong at their core, it's really hard to get excited about new consoles these days. /s

        • +1

Pretty sure Zelda is pretty kick ass….

        • +3

          @catbarf: It's an extremely kick ass… Wii U game.

        • snipper clips, best multiplayer game on switch

        • +1

Zelda is a switch game ported to the Wii U. It has abominable performance issues on the U.

With Mario & Xenoblade coming later and hopefully Dragon Quest, at least therell be some good exclusives.

    • about 9, 10, 11 maybe.

  • +1

When is it out? Deal says 28th but that seems quite far off.

    • indeed 28th of apr.

  • +2

Can I play this on my Sega?

    • +2

I think it'll work on an Atari.
      Or on the Lynx.
      Or a Commodore 64.
      Or the Pippin.

      • Oh wow. Totally forgot about the Pippin! Had to Google it :P

        • I think Apple tries to forget the Pippin too…

        • +1

@sillywalks: Steve Jobs really was a genius!

      • +1

        nerrrrrrdddd

  • +3

Played it on Wii U with the missus for a bit earlier today, still my favorite MK by far. As dumb as it is, I eagerly await throwing down 60 on this for Switch so I never have to plug in the Wii U again. Splatoon 2 will take Splatoon 1's place, and I'll probably even end up selling the Wii U, which will in turn make up for rebuying the two games in the first place.

Anyway, it's a (profanity) great game and if you've not yet played it, you're missing out on one of the most fun Nintendo games period.

  • I think it's adorable that for most people this will be their first time playing mario kart 8. Oh well at least lots of people are going to experience this masterpiece of a game

  • +2

How does it compare to the real thing?

  • But what does it taste like?
