[Android] Power Button Torch Was $0.99, Now Free @ Google Play

150

I realize that there are many flashlight applications in the play store. But none had the one feature I wanted the most. This was being able to switch the led light of the camera on and off from the lock screen using the power button. So Power Torch was created!

      Lol, maybe, lol.

    • I have so many free apps free games but never play …. lol …

Careful, you might be saying "yeah I got it" about malicious software which is often on the Google Play store.

      • Doesn't Google vouch for all apps on their marketplace?

Why do you need an app for a torch when android already has it built in. The button is there on the pull down.

"I realize that there are many flashlight applications in the play store. But none had the one feature I wanted the most. This was being able to switch the led light of the camera on and off from the lock screen using the power button. So Power Torch was created!"

So it was easier to type that out than to just read? Got it…

      • No not really. I can access the built in torch from the lock screen too.

I used to have an app but the built works just as good.

        • Your method: Press Power Button -> Swipe from the top -> Press on torch at the top of the screen
This method: Turn on lock screen -> Hold power button
          There is move your thumb.

Similar concept to adding app icons to your home screen. Why put it there if you can open the app drawer than open it?

    • I have the stock Torch widget on my home screen. Not sure I want an app running in the background using up resources waiting for me to press the power button. I'm sure there may be a time it would come in handy, but not for me.

      • +1

It will only use resources in the background if it's poorly coded.

Contrary to many nubs advice an app can be "running" on Android but using no resources so task killers are not only pointless they use more battery than not using a task killer since apps are killed and then loaded repeatedly.

  • I actually use this app all the time. Super handy.

  • Moto users can use the double flick your phone sideways gesture to turn on the light.

    • +1

Yep, the double karate chop works well.

funfact: huawei y6 elite has an EXTRA button, that you can configure in settings to turn torch on/off (without touching anything else, and nit even the display turning on). Pure torch.

    • +1

Yep… I was about to write the same thing. I also have mine set to switch torch on/off. Handy little feature. You can also set it to do different tasks on double press etc (such as take a photo), and long press for something else such as opening browser or another app, although this does not bypass your lock screen so still have to unlock screen with a swipe before the app will show.

      • yup: screenshot, torch, camera for me

  • Still 0.99 cent to me

  • Expired

  • No longer free. Now Showing .99

  • If you missed this, check out the free version of "Flashlight LED Genius", to turn on the flashlight, you press your home or lock button and shake your phone, shaking again will turn it off. Has the ability to adjust the sensitivity of the shake and all.
