I bought the JJRC H26W for ~$77 with express delivery and conversion fees. Very similar specs.
Mine doesn't have:
SD card (video saved to phone over WIFI)
10 mins flight time (only 7)
Mine has:
Dual-axis gimbal (controllable)
300m range instead of 70m
I ended up getting mine from GearBest using a discount code from rc forums. It was even cheaper without the camera and gimbal (about USD $12 roughly).
Supposedly reasonable for first time flyers. It's fast, fairly rugged (flexible plastic). 2 people said their motors burnt out after a few flights (warranty?) but many said they had no problems after months of use. There are some hack instructions on rc forums to up fly time by a few minutes and other juicy bits.
What I don't like:
- brushed motors. Brushless are better but more expensive to get brushless drone (cheapest I found $118)
- noisy. Described by more experienced users as noisy but not the worst. Certainly tolerable.
- lack of sd card gives jelly effect to recorded video. Again, not too bad.
- assembly instructions almost non-existent, but easy to assemble from looking at pictures
- the air pressure sensor makes it easy to keep the drone at a fixed height (and this one is missing that sensor)
If I were to have the choice between the COTD and the GearBest quadcopters, I'd easily go for the JJRC H26 or H26W (W has camera). The range is far better and the cost… well, this is OzBargain, right?
Here are my scrap notes. Might help.
$60 (USD) JJRC H26W WIFI FPV HD 720P CAM 2.4G 4 Channel 6 Axis Gyro RC Quadcopter
http://m.gearbest.com/rc-quadcopters/pp_271714.html
+300m range, 8min batt, camera gymble mount
Code: DH26W
I also considered:
$117.76 (AUD) MJX B3 Bugs 3 Brushless Motor Drone Support C4000 Gopro 3/4 XiaoYi Action Camera RC
http://m.tomtop.com/rc-quadcopter-1192/p-rm7325b-us.html
+brushless, 300m range, 18min batt, camera gymble mount
Codes: VETTSAVE4 or 8RCLOCAL
As a first timer, I decided to save the $50 until I knew what I was doing and because the bugs had no camera. The kids could use the camera for all sorts of fun.
If in doubt, read the rc forums. The H26W is very popular. I don't regret the purchase. GearBest have given me excellent support!!
