worth the effort to save $2.95?

      • better than waiting for the item to be posted/delivered which could take up to 10 days….

      • yeah, coz you save 2.95 + 8.95 postage and get it straight away.

    No MKV = Fail

      And no network

      • No MKV + no network = no bargain.
This is a pretty average price for average features.

Exactly. Upscalling divx to 1080p will be horriable. This same POS was posted here month or so back, go read the comments there.

  • no rmvb support too…..

  • h264?

LOL this Sony model is on permanent rotation on OzBargain.

Any media player without MKV and RMVB automatically fails.

it hasn't been mentioned yet but my friend bought this and it doesn't support NTFS,it only supports FAT32.meaning your external hard drive(e.g 250GB,320GB,500GB,and so on) definitely will not work unless the format type is FAT32.your normal 2GB or 4GB flash drive or memory card that you put in usb memory card reader will work. sorry not really tech master, but hope that helps!

Plus filesizes will be limited to 4gig so no HD movies. Once again, pointless.

  • Its a Sony - ps3 is about the only good thing they can make

DO NOT BUY this SONY Media player, its crap. I have one, it doesn't work with both 3.5 and 2.5" External hard drive, NO NTFS support, its only work with USB flash drive as mention by nb85. Its waste of money….

  • A lot of blu-ray players (like my Samsung) let you plug in a USB drive or stick, and play back all these formats (divx, xvid, etc., in high definition, not just upscaling). I think people are better off investing in that.

    • A warning - my top of the line Samsung blu ray player is a POS.

Supposedly supports streaming, USB, etc but the functions very rarely work and the whole unit is completely unreliable. Wish I had never bought it.

  • As has been stated. Very ordinary box. No lan connection for network streaming. Also no FLAC or other lossless media playback support. For me there are much better media players that support a much wider range of playback formats. Especially when all media has to be played from usb sticks and doesn't support hard drives.
