yeah not really the best deal… arguably these are 'premium' cables but they are aren't the cheapest price seen here and then you need to factor shipping in too…

for comparisons sake see these previous deals selling HDMI 1.4 cables:

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/28962
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/26975

  • Hard to compare between deals. Bought a supposedly "HDMI 1.4" cable the other day for around $5. Watching a DVD was unbearable, due to a sort of "digital swirling" of pixels. Turned out the cable seemed not to keep up with the required bandwidth at 1080p. I understand HDMI cables don't need to cost $100 provided they meet the required bandwidth, but from a picture it's hard to tell whether they actually do.

  • haha, this as 0 votes even the guy who posted it retracted his vote

      because his a rep.

  • These cables are supplied by a genuine hdmi adopter and are made to transfer signals up to 10.2Gbps. They have been thoroughly tested with high bandwidth devices (Blu Ray Players) and output a resolution of 1080p without signal degradation.

I'm pretty sure any cable that short should produce 1080p without any signal degradation. Isn't it only on longer distances that you should start looking at premium cables?

      • thats what i thought too. ive got a handfull of really cheap HDMI cables though a few sales ive found through ozbargain and have had no problem with any of them.
all the ones i have gotten are 2m or less…

  • I choose not to buy!

Apparently any HDMI cables under the size of 4.5m/15 foot will have no degradation regardless of cable quality.

Decent price and they look like decent quality ones as well, thank you for the post.

"* Deeper colour than regular HDMI"???
The only difference between high speed HDMI 1.3 cable and a 1.4 cable is ethernet support.

A high speed 1.3 cable should work for 3D, audio return channel and all other HDMI features except ethernet!

Don't waste your money on 1.4 cables people, manufacturers and retailers are not even supposed to be using the HDMI 1.4 designation for any cable products.

"2.1 HDMI Cable Products—No Use of Version Numbers
You shall not use HDMI version numbers in the labeling, packaging, or promotion of any cable
product. This includes releases of the HDMI specification (for example, HDMI 1.3, etc.), interim
version numbers (for example, HDMI 1.3a, etc.) and CTS (Compliance Test Specification) version
numbers (for example, 1.2, 1.3c, etc.).
Cable products are not allowed to make any reference to Version 1.4 of the HDMI Specification
in any circumstance. There is no grace period for compliance to this rule."

i suggest you take a look at the above link in regards to colour…

"Color depth is a measurement of the number of bits used to represent the amount of possible colors available to display a single pixel. The greater the color depth, the more colors are available to display a given pixel. If you have more colors available then you can get closer to reproducing the actual real life color of the image displayed. Higher color depth will also help reduce banding, which is the harsh color gradient border created as shades gradually change as illustrated below…."

"On top of an increase in the possible colors available, v1.4 will also support the color spaces sYCC601, Adobe RGB, and Adobe YCC601. Color spaces are collections of the different possible colors that can be used to render an image. Better color spaces allow your images to be viewed with more color variations that are closer to the real life colors that represent your image."

A cable tested under HDMI 1.3 cat 2(high speed) is specified to support bandwidth of 10.2Gbps!

Under the new "high speed" specifications the max required bandwidth is the same at 10.2Gbps!

So there is no difference in the performance between the cables except for ethernet support.

The cable does not know if your sending 1080p, 3D, deep color or just standard Def video, if it has the bandwidth it will work!

HDMI 1.3 already supports deep colour.

See the info from the PDF from the HDMI org site I linked to above, it is more factual than any cable manufacturers website.
        http://www.hdmi.org/manufacturer/trademark_logo_pub.aspx

Saying you need 1.4 for deep colour smells of Monster's scam marketing tactics!

I will repeat for those that want the facts there is absolutely no difference between a high speed 1.3 cable and a 1.4 cable except for ethernet support!
