With these app even if you get premium version app, you need to subscribe to get all benefits, stats, records etc. I have tried subscription of both. Runtastic excels with better web UI, records, stats and presentation. However if you are not planning to subscribe you might prefer Runkeeper, as app looks more polished.
Runtastic apps seem like a money grab to me. Free app where you still have to pay to unlock features that others give for free, a baffling number of fitness apps with overlapping functionality to flood (confuse) the market, etc.
Yeah definitely a bit frustrating.
Have been using the Pro version for years (which I actually paid for) but they have progressively introduced more ads in to the platform. Nearly every screen change brings up an ad for one of their other products, which is exactly what I was trying to avoid by paying for it.
Still one of the better apps though.
Is it just me, or does this app go on special every month or so? Or am I getting runtastic/runkeeper mixed up, either way, one of them always seems to go on special.
Runtastic goes on "special". The Runkeep app (itself) is free.
Thanks…
Runtastic. Always running. From something.
What is the story with these apps though?
I mean I dont expect them to do the running for me…but as a non runner and a not really fit person…do they start you off easy and let you build up so you do become fitter and a better runner?
You sound like me🚶
You might want to try one of the C25K apps. That stands for Couch to 5Km.
My problem is I'm still stuck on the Couch (or more so Desk chair!) a few years after downloading the app
Cheers for that. I'll take a look
You can get the c25k training program free and program that into your choice of running app. (I dunno if the c25k apps are free or any good or not)
The Runkeeper/runtastic/etc apps let you schedule time/distance intervals, so you can do something like: 30s run, 60s walk, repeat 10 times.
It helps you to understand where you are and your progress. And I find a voice announcer during running very helpful. I've tested a lot of different apps and in the end selected Strava as no-nonsense and the least annoying, web stats are very informative as well.
Thanks OP. Any promo codes for the runtastic Road bike App or Mountain Bike App?
While I've used a few of the running apps in the past, I now only use Strava. Has anyone ever move from Strava to Runtastic, and if so, for what reasons?
Out of all the trackers, Runtastic is the most abysmal. they refuse to integrate with the Garmin API so you cannot automatically import runs. Much better free alternatives out there such as Strava for the social aspect or smashrun for data analysis.
Do I need to create a log in to get to the options screen to enter the code?
Yeah, unfortunately you do
Runtastic or runkeeper?
