  • Received discount email for only 1 of my EDR cards with reason received & conditions… (only available at some Caltex Woolworths fuel outlets)

"your next tank of fuel just got 10c per litre cheaper.
We see you haven’t purchased fuel at Caltex Woolworths in a while, so here’s an offer just for you.
Hit ‘activate now’, then fill up and scan your Rewards card in store for an instant 10c per litre saving!^
Starts today! Offer ends Thursday, 30th March.
^This offer is personal to you and you will need to activate your offer at least 2 hours before you shop in store. $0.10 per litre off fuel is valid for one transaction only at any Caltex Woolworths between 20/03/17 and 30/03/17.
Excludes Caltex Woolworths fuel outlets with a Star Mart or Star Shop."

Reason I haven't bought petrol at the nearest Caltex Woolworths fuel outlets without a Star Mart or Star Shop - its 45 minute return drive out of my way. Local one with Star Mart is only 5 minutes away, but doesn't accept this offer, just usual 4c/l offers😢

  • Ye got that too… Will take advantage of that for sure. Thanks OP.

  • I got this one:

1000 points instantly! Just spend $30 or more at any participating Caltex Woolworths^ for an instant bonus point boost.

    • +1

$5 worth of points on $30 spend or 10c/l discount - I'd rather have the points.
Around 21l petrol (where I am) or other purchases in shop for $5 points = $5 discount on 50l petrol⛽

  • +1

I received an offer today too. However, mine was 1000 EDR points for a >=$30 spend.

So it's targeted, but variable in offer as well.

  • This is one thing I like more about Woolies card vs FlyBuys - the ability to store petrol vouchers on the card. I hate having to drag receipts around with me to get a discount.

Lucky I've got an independent right near work which is nearly always cheaper than the major servos.

    • But..no visible due dates on the card, and if you do get a 10c offer you can use it whenever you want. Woolies defaults the 10c first, even if you have a 4c that is about to expire and you want to use that first.

      • I don't have a problem with due dates as the cards prioritise the older vouchers.

        • Unless its a promo like this, it over rides prioritisation by date.

      • I can see expiration dates of the 4c/L fuel vouchers in the Woolworths Money App.

        • Also available on the (Woolworths)Fuel app.

  • received an offer today too

  • +1

I had this offer a little while ago and for me it took the 10c a litre off but it also took off the 4c on the card and because i spent over the 5 bucks instore I got the extra 4c for that as well.

Total of 18c per litre off. nice little bonus..

  • +1

I thought these offers were made illegal.

The discount was set to a max of 4c per litre unless you were making a (non-petrol) purchase at the petrol station.

How do they get around this?

    • +1

True. The old offers were buy a given amount of groceries, get so many cents (eg 20c) off per litre. The offer was tied to shopping at supermarket. (No longer allowed above 4c/l.)

This is a We've missed you at the petrol station, please come back offer, not tied to supermarket purchase. So similar to petrol shop or other offers - by the service stations .

      • That makes sense. Thanks.

  • +1

How about we all boycott the giants Shell/BP/Caltex and save 10c or more by filling up at more reasonably priced chains or independents?

    • OzBargainers should always be interested in the best deal.

With up to 18c/l discount in this deal its harder for independents to compete. But it's only a 1 use offer to attract people back.

      • Add to that paying with 5% off Wish giftcards.

      • I like a good deal but I also dont want to support monopolization which will result in higher prices for me in the future

        • +1

Ah - playing the long game.
That option is occasionally put forward in deals. Haven't seen any effect yet. People tend to buy on price, not politics.

So you received this offer? Otherwise it's like saying you don't want to go to a party you weren't invited to😀

As I posted, I was only offered this as inducement to return to buy petrol - because I have not bought from them for a very long time.
I won't be going out of my way for a few dollars once in this deal. But each to their personal decision😯

        • @Infidel: I agree, well said.
True ozbargainer will only look at the price factor.

  • I didn't get this offer because I always buy fuel with the 4c discount.

This is a good case for having multiple EDR accounts, which I haven't done (yet).
Can anyone with multiple accounts offer tips ?
Do you need to use a different email address for each account ?
If so, does this trick work for woolworths ?
Do they twig if you use the same credit card across multiple accounts ?

    • +3

      Multiple EDR account user…
The email trick (turning 1 address into many) works. I've used it for years.

I rest my cards between uses (move to next card in pile unless there is a special offer & don't scan any card for small purchase - those points are usually almost useless). That encourages Woolies to offer me inducements to return. (Currently using Woolies 3 week offer: instant $5 off $30 spend, $10 off $40, then $15 off $50) These offers are pretty regular. The more cards in use, the more chance of an offer.

Also make sure you provide your "birthday" when setting up account. That gives $10 off $30 online shopping in birthday month - so make sure to spread those birthdays out over the year 🎂

Coupled with discounted (5%min) Wish eGift cards & buying when on special (get rain check if not in stock) - reduces price further.

Similarly with petrol discounts. I've only used 1 EDR card at a Woolworths Caltex without Star Store - so only received 1 offer. (Local is different type of Woolies branded servos that don't offer this deal.) Use different cards to get more of these offers.

Alternating shop with Coles means getting their promotions (currently using $50 off 4 weeks of $50 shops).

Plus use your new card/account for regular first time offers like New Woolworths Online Customers Spend $120 Get $41 Cashback + 10% off $150 Spend + Free Delivery @ Cashrewards.

For online shop - use discounted eGift Cards for payment. Online is great for weighed items like meat - always get more than ordered. Once got free 2kg smoked salmon with my order (store manager knows its my favourite)🎉

Woolies App is useful to keep track of all those eGift & EDR cards. Can look up points, fuel vouchers, & last time card was used. No problem with multiple EDR cards - they're for other family members…

      Happy shopping😯

      • Great info.

Can you please share which app do you use to save eGift & EDR cards - Woolowrths shopping app or Fuel app or the Money app ?
My Wife and I have 2 cards but I can't add them to the same account on Fuel app. Need to log off and log in every time.

        • Thanks spk😯
Money app - accepts multiple cards.
Just wish could scan card details at checkout, instead of typing in.

        • @Infidel: thanks mate. Downloaded it and its great to have EDR and Gift cards in one place.
Bad thing is unable to scan EDR. Need to have them in Stocard.

  • Got the same email. Yippee.
