Sunwayman D40A Cree XM-L2 4-Mode 980-Lumen $44 USD (~ $58 AUD) @ Fast Tech

80
SHAMROCK

Hey I've been eyeing this bright torch for a little while and I missed the CNY sales. Fasttech have a 10% off code going at the moment which will bring this torch down to 44 USD ~ 58 AUD. Not the cheapest ever with the slightly crappy exchange rate, but not a bad price compared to the competition out there:

Gearbest sells it for $108 AUD

Banggood sells it for $104 AUD

Amazon is approx 72 USD shipped to Sydney

Info about the torch from the site shamelessly copied:

Credit goes to aussieprepper for the format of this post who posted the last deal.

Don't forget cashrewards (may not pay though as the coupon isn't listed on their site), but I did receive a 'tracked purchase' email from cashrewards almost immediately after purchase.

Got one of these, they're great!

    • Yep. It has the lowest low and the highest high of all my torches (including a modded 6D mag) and being able to use eneloops is a big plus.

  • Agree they are great. Very powerful and compact.

  • Ive been eyeing off this https://m.fasttech.com/p/5840000 for a while. I'd say this is a better light than the d40a but that's for individuals to decide.

Point is I tried the coupon just in the cart and works on the S1R too.

    Thanks op.

    • It's not quite the same. The Olight uses RCR123 rechargeable lithium-ion batteries (16340 form factor, 16mm diameter, 34mm long). The Sunwayman D40A uses AA form factor (four of them).

If you want to go to rechargeable lithium-ion batteries then there are a ton of really good value torches that use 18650 form factor batteries. Not so many using 16340's.

The Olight S1R may be a great torch but it's probably not to be compared to the Sunwayman D40A.

      • 16340 is nice in the pocket. But youre right, its apples and oranges. The D40A last I looked was the best of its type. I posted a deal for these several years ago.

  • I picked one up too from the last deal and am very happy with it.
Compares to my Astrolux S3 (but the Sunwayman runs off AA rather than Li-ion)

  • Awesome. JUst in time to replace my Nitecore EA4W

  • Are Fasttech still shipping batteries to Australia?

    • I read some people getting away with it when only buying one or two but as always ymmv.

    • I tried a month ago, there was no shipping options to Australia for any 18650, had to buy from eBay (Sydney). There's https://ru.nkon.nl/ but they had no stock of anything decent at the time

*edit: scratch that, their only shipping option is now FedEx and costs 30 euros for 4 batteries.

      • That what I thought. I was going to purchase from them a while back, but none of the delivery options were available. I also ended up purchasing from eBay.

  • The batteries are included?
