  1. That offer optimal travel times (no long layovers);
  2. A strong preference on full service airlines (occasionally a Scoot/Air Asia deal is posted)and;
  3. No deals involving mainland Chinese carriers (because personally I wouldn't fly them)

    Don't book a one hour lay over in LAX. You're very likely to miss your connection.

    • If it's a ticketed flight all the way through from the airline, this doesn't apply and they allow for minimum transfer time.

      • no they don't you'll just miss the connecting flight.
        you'll need to grab your luggage from international terminal and bring it to domestic vice versa too

        • Yes except the issue then lies with the airline. They're aware of your connecting flight and will hold.
          The airport also is also aware and rushes people through luggage/express to the domestic terminal.

          The airlines that book flights all the way through from Australia to New York via LAX have this covered with minimum connection times.

          Done it multiple times without issue.

      • If you enjoy dealing with the process of rebooking your missed connection, go right ahead. Otherwise, book a more realistic connection to start with (eg 2 or 3 hours minimum). This if especially true with checked bags connecting into the USA, as you will have to pick up your bags, clear customs and security and then recheck them. Almost impossible on a one hour connection.

        • Have had this happen a couple times. Never an issue getting onto a partner airline. They will often bump me up into premium economy and book me a free meal as well for the inconvenience.

  • My experience of LAX is different. But if you can make the connection, that's great. If not, you might find it is not as easy as some here are making out.
