Select USA from country drop down to get US pricing.
Has anyone tried getting cashback as well as taking up one of these offers previously? Did it work? Or is it effectively a choice- cashback or points?
I've long been waiting for a deal on the physical Economist subscription, if you know of anything OP. Doesn't look like I can use an Aussie address with US pricing.
Hi not sure about physical Economist subscriptions.
Buying from the US site using the promo only works digitally for Australia (hence I only highlighted digital).
I prefer a physical copy too, but simply cannot justify the high prices that are charged in Australia after I got off the student account.
Why'd they kick you off student, did your Uni email expire? I find even the student physical price to be a bit rich…it's double the standard US price!
Well I have left uni for a while now - back in the day (maybe 10yrs+ ago), it was much cheaper!
Previously I was circling off the A$45 12 week digital subscription trial, cancelling and resubscribing…
Now I use the US subscription… works for me and I do get the avios which I value a lot! :)
For anyone interested you may be able to get The Economist digital through your local library for $0 !
My local library delivers via an online platform they provide magazine subscriptions through - Zinio - you can download them for offline reading too.
But do they give Avios points as well?
I'd really be interested in people's opinions on The Economist. I understand it's a pretty good publication. No sexism or sensationalism. If that's the case, i'd suggest people support it to show that we are willing to pay decent media outlets for good news because good media outlets are extremely rare today.
I hear Klownz view that we can get it for free, but, when I see how awful most Australian publications are, I think it's really worth supporting media outlets that are decent. They truly are as rare as rocking-horse dung.
Yeah, I know, hand in my OzBargain pass on the way out and have my OzBargain tattoo removed. Don't come back :)
Haha dont get me started on the editorial leanings of the Economist!
Well, they are a good publication, and offer up pretty good (and relevant) content weekly content.
But just be aware they are liberal learning (rightly or wrongly). The anti-Trump bias got so bad (ie there was an anti-Trump headline every week) that I was seriously considering cancelling my subscription! I mean it is one thing to have a view… but to make it blatantly biased (like the NY Times I think) is just sickening…
Still though, their columns make a good read when they are not politically biased.
My 2c.
Duplicate apologies
Can someone advise how to start an account for the avios points? BA doesn't seem to allow for sign-ups with an Australian address. Thanks
You will need to subscribe to avios.com account using a uk address (they dont send anything there so a hotel or friend/colleague/work address is fine).
For BAEC, sign from anywhere apart from Australia - so if you know someone/somewhere overseas, you can use their address (like avios.com, they dont send stuff to you unless of course you are building status with them)
