Needed a jack for the 4WD and have been watching this for a while, it's been mentioned in a few posts on here (and a product recall some years ago).
The jack has a decent load rating (to Australian Standards) and a good lift height and the price makes it about the cheapest you will find.

SCA emailed order confirmation and pickup details within an hour of placing my order, so can't complain about that.

  • Is this jack any good? Why is it still on sale if there was a recall

    • 12.8kg weight for a 2.5T jack? Is it made of paper?

      • I was replying to Radar.
        I have one.
It`s about the same size as the 1400kg jacks.

      • I agree with this. Its 10kg lighter, twice the lifting capacity, and half the price of an aluminium jack. If it seems to good to be true….

Also notice it has no Australian Standards number.

Wouldn't touch that with a 20 foot pole. No offence Bargain Boy.

Max Height 380mm, where the SCA one is 487mm, IMHO the SCA Jack is for 4WD's and not for something where you'd want low profile.

I'd also be really careful about the weight rating, on the pictures is says "2.5 Ton". But when looking at axle stands on ebay, they're stamped "3.0 Ton" but only rated to 2000kg - I have no idea how that works.

      • A ton is not what you think it is.

1000kg is 1 tonne, note the different spelling. This is the metric unit, also an S.I. standard.

A ton is an imperial measurement, and can mean two different weights:
        - 2000 pounds in America (about 907kg)
        - 2240 pounds in the UK (about 1016kg)

None of these measurements let 2000kg="3.0 Ton", I'd be really wary about using any device with such dodgy specifications.

Depends where you are, $73.50 for me :(

Bought one last year end at approx. $90. Can jack up a RX330 without any issue. It is over 30kg so yeah seems very sturdy.

Not sure about the comment on unable to use on a smaller car as I used it to on a IS200 without any issue.

The mechanism for rotating the handle to lower the jack is convenient.

I would suggest not only focusing on getting a good jack - order the pair of better stands (3 Tons) and larger wheel chocks together as well.

    Hey Guys

I had a similar jack sometime back that crashed on me, while I was under the car.

The only thing that save my life were the 3 Ton Stands on either sides of the door under-carriage.

My dad always insisted I use safety stands and now I know why….Thanks Dad.

Don't take chances guys, always use backup safety stands if you plan to go under your car.

    • Thanks for your safety message, Lexus101. Always good to be reminded that jack failure is a reality not a theory.

      Was your jack from SCA?

      • Yes….returned it for a new one.

Any jack can fail (regardless of brand) make sure there are backup stands.

        Stay safe guys.

  • Given how consistently SCA stands and jacks are recalled, I wouldn't trust it personally…

  • Just bought one of these on sunday, dam you ebay.
