  • JUST BOUGHT 1700X + 6G GTX1060 FOR 822.

WONDERING IF I CARRY OVERSEAS CAN I GET 80AUD TAX RETURN?

    • good question.

      no idea.

    • +4

You should have bought a new keyboard as well.

    • Should be ok, I tried that, just check the guideline on TRS to be sure.

      • yes, you definitely can.. but don't go over $900.00 in total

    • -1

AS LONG AS THEY CHARGED GST AND YOU HAVE A RECEIPT YOU CAN GET THE 80AUD TAX RETURN SINCE IT'S OVER $300. MAKE SURE YOU TAKE THE ITEMS AS CARRY ON LUGGAGE CAUSE YOU NEED TO SHOW THE ITEMS AFTER YOU PASS IMMIGRATION.

MAYBE YOU SHOULD BUY A NEW KEYBOARD ALSO AND CLAIM IT BACK CAUSE YOUR SHIFT KEY IS BROKEN :)

      • CRAP< MY KEYBOARD ALSO HAS PROBELMS

  • Just a quick question, why am i blocked for authentication when i wanted to buy from the merchant, i did order 1 product from the merchant before, but i can order it from other merchant

  • You need a new motherboard as well.

    • The MSI b350 AM4 Tomahawk is on sale too, it's $180 after coupon applies,

      I heard its pretty good

      • Yeah I read a few reviews. The Gigabyte board is the only one that currently supports 3200 DDR4 memory. But Gigabyte and I don't have a great history, and it's far too expensive. So the Tomahawk is the next best thing and is faster than some x370 boards at the moment. But $180 isn't much of a sale that's what Umart are selling it for.

        • Umart charge me almost 60 bucks for shipping totalling almost $220 for the motherboard, so i kinda save 40 by buying this on ebay

        • @Meliodas:
Not to mention all the Umart ryzen boards are out of stock

        • @beyondtool: Thats even worse

is this cpu better than 7700k ?

    • +2

Depends what you mean better. For gaming not really, but for design work it's a killer with 16 threads. If you want to overclock which is really easy to do, it will beat the 7700K.

      • +1

        design work

3D? For graphic design, neither Indesign nor Illustrator are multithreaded. 7700K thrashes the 6900k, for example. 7700k is strangely the best for Photoshoip as well, which I always assumed could take more threads, go figure.

        • +1

yeah try video authoring and 3D. Photoshop will run on just about any i5 these days.

        • +1

@beyondtool: >Photoshop will run on just about any i5 these days.

Of course it will run. I've also done video work on an i5 Haswell-U. It's a question of how well it runs. The 7700k happens to be the fastest in this instance, just like the 1800X excels in rendering.

        • @TheContact:
Well I certainly don't want to entertain another let's argue over how awesome or poor Ryzen is, plenty of threads on that topic. All I will say is that what Ryzen excels at it does brilliantly and what it doesn't it still gets the job done well. Best overall CPU out there for a wide range of tasks at great value compared to Intel. If you have a specific use case where it's not the best option great stick with Intel..

      • Then again, in maybe under a 1 year, games will want more then 8 threads. I dont see intel bringing a 16 thread cpu to there current socket line up 1151.

        • Looks like games built on the following engines currently use 8 threads - Unreal Engine 4, Frostbite 3, CryEngine 3, Civilization game engine, Nitrous Engine

        • +1

Emphasis on "maybe". People have been saying this for a very long time, and even now, the progress is small. Single core performance will reign supreme for a while yet.

    • +1

what do you need it to be better at?

  • +2

Very good price for X1700 too, $479

    • +1

Yeah almost a $100 saving, just need to decide on M.2 Samsung 960 Evo for $296 or Samsung 960 Pro for $400

  • +1

I am so on the fence. Looking at dumping $750 for a killer Ryzen upgrade. Only I'll need to upgrade my r290 soon as well.

  • +1

Price for the system was too good to refuse ordered and trying click n collect..had enough trouble with Australia post recently. Umart are sold out of most of their Ryzen motherboards and there is a global shortage at the moment, so if you are thinking of purchasing Ryzen in the next month now would be the time.

    • Just bought a 1700X for $479 off Futu and a Samsung 960 Evo M.2 500GB for $288 - going to buy my AM4 MSI X370 from my local PLE just incase there are any issues. It will cost an additional $29 but it will be better than sending interstate if I have any issues.

      • Just bear in mind the motherboards are selling out fast so be quick or be disappointed with a wait

        • Haha that's what Shopping Express said, going to play the lottery and hope that I get a good one

  • I get this when I click the link…
