Nice comment edit :)
I saw it
@jv:
the past tense of saw is sawed
"I saw it'" is present tense.
@jv:
Right, but "If you saw it, it will void the warranty." is not a grammatically valid usage unless you partition my statement as an implicit gerund. Which itself would not be valid, or possible.
"If you saw it, it will void the warranty." is not a grammatically valid
Yes it is, it's in the 'simple future' tense.
@jv:
!! wow you still don't get it… lmao!
@jv:
you can't simple future a past participle unless there is an implicit gerund!!!
of course you can…
So, what did I miss?
Lol pwned
Turn 'spell check' on.
i respect your never say die attitude verny
You ought to be able to get the 1700 for less, and reviews suggest that bang for the buck it's a better bet. Or wait a while and see how the price war goes between AMD and Intel.
agreed, 1700 is so far the best when you plan to manually overclock them.
Agree also. It also depends on the desired functionality. Intels current chips still win for real-world gaming performance. Ryzen would do for a multi thread workstation.
Oh how I wish this information was stamped at the top of everything talking Ryzen at the moment. Just wait and you shall reap the benefits of doing so.
and you get a cooler to use while you wait for whatever company to send you an AM4 bracket.
Isn't the 1700x as it has a higher wattage rating? 95watt vs 65watt - therefore 1700x has better overclocking capabilities
Wasn't that 95~115watt is AMD standard power consumption for high-end cpu since many years ago, 65watt was Intel to power cut over AMD's standard.
If both CPU's performance close to each other, while one use 30 more watts per hour, do the math in a standard server that run 365/7/24, also in a standard size data center calculation as a guideline to compare your actual saving thru out the year.
A single server on that will be 262.8kilowatt extra per year. Energy Aus charge at $0.3 per kilowatt, you're paying roughly extra $78.84 for AMD while Intel do your saving for a single year. That's always price to pay to "Overclock" thing. 3 years down you're power bill worth more than your CPU.
Can you give a break down of the formula to calculate power cost of a CPU?
@spriggan43: use the 30watts per hour * 24 * 365 * cost(0.30) /1000(kilowatt not watt)
Friend, the 1700 and 1700x are binned 1800x chips. ignoring gaming performance theyvexcel in everything else and have other applications. not to forget biases that arise from having used the intel compiler.
If you dont see how the current price is amazing…
Wait for the r5, thatcwill be cheaper and the one targeted at gamers
Too sad, already ordered from newegg
BTW, it shows AU $534 for me during check out, did I miss sth?
Updated, it seems not ship to AU anymore
Hopefully shipping to Australia is on the horyzen as I like this deal.
+1 to no more Aus shipping :( Boooo BOO!!!!
$534 is with Amazon's horrible currency conversions, pay in pounds with a fee free cards such as 28 Degrees or Bankwest platinum to get the lower price.
Still ships to AU for me
+1 for not shipping to AU, Price confirmed aswell, just logged in and added to cart to make sure http://i.imgur.com/lxTI8p8.png
Weird, it says it ships for me, can you go try checking out to confirm? Sometimes amazon shows that it doesn't deliver on the listing, but you are still able to checkout.
It wasn't last night but I didn't grab a screeny, you are indeed right, on final confirmation page it does ship to Aus.. Thats super weird and I'm maybe thinking a glitch due to how 'exclusives' for tech deals in Australia work.
Either way, long story short, you are correct http://i.imgur.com/FuzgKJ4.png
lots of junk Ryzen up in the deals on ozbargain
I thought deal was for AMD Ryzen not junk Ryzen
What's a 'Ryzen'??
Coming up as £368.99 now

did a quick online comparison of the specs between the amd ryzen 7 and my current cpu, an intel i7 980x, considering its quite a few years old now, it still holds it ground fairly well! dont think ill need to upgrade it just yet :)
True, I plan on waiting a bit longer myself with my i7 2700k, my current system has to die or games I care for have to be more thread optimized.
I hope your online comparison didn't involve CPUboss because that website is awful and misleading
A website like CPU boss only serves as a feature comparison, it doesnt tell you anything meaningful in terms of performance or efficiency.
this is true. but as long as i can pretty much play games on near full settings (video card is a GTX970) at 1920x1080 then i wont bother upgrading.
i will buy it even though I dont need it.
Just picked up one on Ebay for $479 GST included :)
