I needed an adapter and decided to click the link and discovered it was still in stock for $0. Not sure how many they actually have.
It's Benson Leung approved, which is important.
You need to create an account with Zapal before going to cart to receive the (slightly) cheaper shipping fee (around $2 each to Melb).

USB C male, female micro USB.
Make use of all those acquired cables.
Its about 3 weeks shipping. The female input isn't shaped like a micro USB on Xiaomi adaptors. It's just rectangular shaped so not ideal if you plug/unplug it regularly
Shipping is about $2 each to melbourne
I have these and they work really well
I picked up a couple of these suckers from eBay the other day and can confirm (as you'd expect) these sort of adapters will work perfectly with the Nintendo Switch, for anyone who it may concern. :)
why use for switch? for charging?
Yeah dude. I don't have anything else that uses USB C yet. I'd rather be able to charge the Switch subtle style off my laptop (or a power brick or something) at TAFE than lug around the power adapter.
cheers, bought a couple.
Bought 10 of these when I travelled to China @$1 a piece. Works fine but don't expect it to carry more than 1.8amp.
Ps: When I recommended this a year ago I got bombarded by comments claiming Xiaomi converters are shit and would fry your laptop/phone etc. Now it turns out being Benson approved. How times changed.
people are xenophobic when it comes to adapters
Well what exactly do you expect? If adapters and cables are frying devices because of a known compliance issue, and if the adapter has not been tested as compliant, then of course people are going to be wary of an untested adapter that may fry their devices.
Sure, maybe it's completely fine (and It has turned out fine in this case, now that it has been tested and approved)…but I'm not going to risk my devices when dodgy cables and adapters are so commonplace. Now that it is approved, then yes, for sure I am happy to go for it.
Yes times have changed - because it's been tested and approved. That is exactly what has changed.
For the record, pretty sure I never commented to you on this…but damn straight I would have been wary about the adapter back then if it wasn't approved! You being questioned back then when it hadn't been tested and approved is entirely the correct response with the information available at the time, even if it has turned out to be safe!
Completely agree and don't really understand people that don't get this concept.. I think of it in terms of medication/drugs - If you are using blackmarket medication that isn't approved yet, you're playing with some pretty high risks.. If it does get approved, you still we're rolling the dice before that happened. Also, afterward when approved, they are also usually able to charge more $$$, whether it be an adapter or medication etc.
These carry 2.4A perfectly fine with a good microUSB cord. Low quality cords not so much.
Anker 5 port + Anker 1m MicroUSB = 2.1A
Anker 5 port + Anker 0.3m Powerline+ = 2.35AI have tested mine with a proven 3A micro usb cable and only got 1.8a out of it. Probably some interface issue.
Proven 3A means nothing, a $1 Chinese cable can manage 3A safely. What you're looking at is the voltages - if the voltage is dropping too much your device won't pull the full amount.
You'll also need a good charger, most up voltages with higher power draw though some are at better increments than others. I found my Anker is the only charger which works well with my Chuwi Hi10 - all others have weird increments that are just above the levels my tablet tries drawing, resulting in it seeing low voltages at lower currents than what the charger can actually manage.@dyl: when I say proven I meant I can charge a micro usb device @3a. However once I plugged in the converter it becomes 1.8a.
@MadMaxBargainRoad: what devices are you using? (Charger + MICROUSB device + type-C device)
FYI
Make sure you register a new account to get the discounted shipping costGood price, even if you have no use for these it can't hurt to get 1 or 2 for friends/visitors/whatever.
Type C is the new standard so this will only be more useful over time.
I've already left a few at mum/dad's place and some friends places incase i need a charge top up there in future.I have a few of these cheapo adapters from china, and they either work intermittently or don't work at all. I also have a Type C to Type A adapter and the Type A socket is very very tight. It will leave permanent scratches on the USB device you insert into it.
Caveat emptor.
meh… $2 postage PER item :(
Edit: Didn't read OP's post very well..

I don't know how reliable this website is but isn't GearBest known for really long shipping times? like 6 weeks long?
GearBest is very slow, but faster than Zapals.
Yea, I have had the same experience. I bought it from here for $2.06(think it was cheaper on the mobile app), arrived in 2 weeks.

$1 on ebay for normal ones ?
Yeah, $1 for a single one here: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/3x-USB-Type-C-Male-Connector-to-M…
or $4 for 5 here: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Aluminium-USB-3-1-Type-C-Male-to-…I guess you are paying for the Xiaomi brand, but with these kind of things the electronics are so basic the maker brand has so little difference.
Yeah, especially brands like Xiaomi, I wouldn't be surprised if they were the exact same device.
I would definitely go with ebay if I was someone here trying to find the fastest shipping time compared to Zapals or GearBest...Hell I'm still waiting for an order from fasttech I made at christmas.
Personally, I am willing to pay extra for Benson Leung approval.
He's a google engineer who had some expensive technology fried due to inferior quality cables, so he started testing a bunch for everyone's benefit. From my point of view, spending a couple of dollars for an approved product is worth it when phones/laptops/consoles are costing hundreds and thousands.
Does anyone know if these are OTG compatible? I have a couple of MicroUSB devices that I used on my old phone but I can't use them on my Mi 5. Thanks.
As long as the microUSB cable is compatible, yes. These act more as a bridge than having compatibility issues - The only thing you have to worry about here is what amp they can handle.. and the consensus on that seems to be at the 1.8 range, so no 'fastcharging' will likely be possible (The same reason I'm not going to grab any on this deal personally)
I'm not familiar with OTG, however, this Benson Leung review covers two things; his testing indicated 2.4 amps, he didn't believe it could handle OTG.
Hope this helps. This is correct, I redact my statements above on the amperage range.
Fast charging is possible. I bought the PRO version of the Xiaomi power bank and it comes with this power adapter on the cable to charge it (which is fast charging).
@carlitos: and I said that it wouldn't on the basis of my amperage assumption ^_^
I still haven't received mine from the December deal! Opened a support ticket with zapals and they asked to check with local post office. This is the second purchase out of three that I haven't received.
Yup never received mine either. Won't buy this
I bought http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/-/401052016222 2 for AUD$5.95 delivered in two days (Melbourne)
Use them with my Oneplus 3T and MBP 2016 Touchbar, no issue so far.
So these aren't Quick Charge 2.0 or OTG capable as far as I can tell? Having a hard time find an adapter that does both of these features. Any ideas?
What is the male and what is the female? The pictures show usb c as both.
