    • +3

      Down, down, prices are down.

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/295373 might be worth the extra for a better cooler / OC, but this is great value.

  • Good deal! Hopefully we see even better between now and the 19th when this is back in stock though.

  • I mean, holy crap! The prices are plummeting, but what do u guys think, get a SLI 980ti or a singularly 1080? Compare these in terms of performance and price.Im quite low on budget, but looking for a relatively high end package, I just need to shop around, but I'm still you know… not sure.

Single. Not all games support sli xfire and you won't be limited to the 6gb but have the 8gb vram in the 1080. Will have longer driver support, much cooler card and a tiny same on your power bill

    • +7

Not even q question, 1080. SLI support is rubbish and far less noise / heat

    • +7

Always buy the best single card you can afford. I really don't see any point in multi-card setups unless you are at the top rung already (e.g. 1080Ti or the current Titan X).

  • +1

Are there any good GTX 1070 deals? im looking for the Gaming X version but anything will do. Thanks!

    • +3

The 1080 deals are coming through thick and fast because NVIDIA has dropped the price by $100 US. They have only dropped the price of the 1070 by $30 US.

      • That makes a lot of sense. Thanks!

  • By this rate they'll be $500 next week

  • I'll stick with Mwave deal for now for local warranty

I bought this card around 4 months ago from amazon FR costed me $790. I will cut it short and tell you about the pros and cons since I have it in my current rig:

    pros:

** Great cooler and silent operation
** It comes overclocked out of he box with the boost clock of 1889 Hz
** Always on discount from time to time.

    Cons:

** No back plate and LEDs
** Dual pin connectors required 6/8 pin connector.
** You can't overclock it beyond the boost clock by much! The max overclock I got on this card is 1960 and I faced crashes :(.. Most of the GTX 1080s from other brands they will hit 2100 HZ easily and more but, this card won't do! so don't bother pushing it.

This is all I could say about this card in general if you interested.

There is one point I need to make clear about the GTX1080s in general these cards aren't 4K and 2K fully playable as I expected them to be! You won't get 60fps with ultra settings you need to crank things down to get higher fps, which is disappointing for the price TAG!. I'm thinking about going with SLI setup in order to get 60 fps + on higher resolutions and that's going to be expansive.

    • +5

No card in the world exists that can support 4K with 60fps on max yet. You'll need 2 1080's unfortunately. Idk about 1080ti though.

      • +2

Yeah, that's why I brought it up if you don't get the GTX1080 you won't loss much really, there are cheaper cards that can play in the same field, gtx1070 or gtx1060 or even the red team RX480.

The gtx1080Ti is going to be very expansive,it won't be an option for everyone.

        • Hey man to be clear, are you saying it struggles at 1440p as well at ultra settings?

        • +1

@Alzori: I have a 1080 and a 1440 screen. Never have any issues hitting 60fps but trying to get to 144fps (my refresh rate) can be tricky in some games.

    • Overclocking depends on the individual card.

  • No back plate and LEDs
You can't overclock it beyond the boost clock by much!
    are two pro's for me

    • Lool if you think so, trust me it looks awful without that back plate! Also not to mention cleaning dust is pain. Overclocking is something that I can't debate anyone because of the risks fair enough but, 200 HZ can make difference in performance that's all I could say.

      • +1

Lol, I'll put in my case which has fine mesh on intake, so I don't need to clean it as often and never look at the card again, until I have to change it, so

        • even fine mesh is a pain in the arse.

Best way to limit it in my experience is to ensure positive pressure into the case (ie. more fans blowing in than out).

If you set it up for negative pressure, you end up with so much dust regardless off your intake filtering.

I have 4 x 200mm fans blowing in (slow/quiet) and P/S, GPU (RX480) and 140mm (radiator on AIO cooler) blowing out.

Seems to keep the dust at bay. I geenrally open it up every few months and there's little to no dust.

          YMMV of course.

        • @sabaramo: Sounds great,
I've got one 140mm and 120 on intake and one 140 blowing out, it's a little bit dusty, but not much at all. really happy with the setup.

  • feel like it is really cheap!!?

  • What is the likelihood of prices getting even lower by the time this is in stock?

  • The price is coming up as EUR 525.82 for me, is there something I am doing wrong?

    • +1

Price went up unfortunately, just marked deal as expired.
