can't see the line rating on the rods, I guess if it's 2-4kg or 3-6kgs, you aren't going to catch the big ones, it should be the other way around
PS I believe you set the reel tension to the recommended level and tried.
I meant the actual rod which is snapped off. I changed the line to stronger braided line and the drag was perfect but somehow it snapped. K-mart was happy to refund me the cost of it which was good.

I can't stand people that eat rods and reels.
These are ok but not really suited to the rating, ive had 2 orange ones snap in the middle using 15lb line, which is very poor.
The reels are horrible also on the pictured rods even for beginners. Better off going to complaet angler when theyve got a sale going, can grab a shimano lumo eclipse and a basic reel for marginally more.
This being said, the grey boat one with overhead reel was brilliant when i had a recent trip to hervey bay - caught a lovely Golden Trevalley off the pier (theyre common up there!)
any good and affordable kits recommended to beginners?
I just noticed today Kmart selling a good reel for $15.
you just need to feed it a good line depends on what you after and find a good rod. Just remember, you setup should match you targeting fish. Also its differ if you are going to fish from boat or land based.

they are really bad. especially the brown one. it couldn't handle a runner Kingfish. It just snapped in the middle. I won't recommend it unless you are a beginner in fishing and not aiming to catch big fish.
