25% off New Monthly Mobile Plan with Optus (Family & Friends Offer) for The First 10 Redemptions Only » All Comments

really, that is absurd…what is the reason? And what phone/plan did you order?

  • +2

Admin needs to stop these guys posting more links until they start answering some questions and show accountability to customers. The toc's are contradicting, people are reporting not being allowed on the plan and it's just too risky. So many questions asked and not one rep is answering them. They are simply here to collect theirs rewards and leave customers in a limbo.

I signed up and after doing an online chat was told there is no order on the system with the temp order number i gave them. The 1300 number says 45 minutes wait but goes on and on even after 1 hr wait.

    • +2

      Hey mate
I would suggest you to send private message to the person whose link you used to subscribe to the offer. He/She can arrange for special assistance for you to resolve your concern.
If you do not remember their ozbargain login or name, send me private message with your name, order details and your concern and I will forward to the special care department to give you a call and discuss further.
Apologies if you had less than ideal experience so far.

      • +1

My concern to you straight up and for everyone to see is why was it initially available to re-contracting services as well and later got changed to new services only. You can't just offer something and change the terms midway.

Also is the discount for 12 months only and will revert back to the non discounted price after that or will it be the discounted price as long as the account holder stays on the plan and not recontract to another plan.

These questions have been asked before.

        • I think the 12mos discount only applies is for the sim only plan or when you take up the 24month plan with a phone, it will be 24months. That's my understanding.

I can't answer the question about recontracting though.

        • From the FAQs in the link:

Is 25% off access fees applied for the life of the plan?
No. The 25% is applied for 12 months when you sign up to a 12 month SIM Only Online plan or for 24 months when you sign up to a 24 month My Plan Plus.

Is 25% offer available on all plans?
The offer is only available to family and friends of Optus employees taking up a new Postpaid mobile consumer service (i.e. a 12-month SIM Only Online plan or a 24-month My Plan Plus).

I'm an existing Optus customer, am I eligible to recontract with these offers?
No. This offer is only available for new Consumer Postpaid mobile services.

Anecdotally, in the past Optus have left a deal "as-is" past the contract expiry, so you might get lucky and keep the discount as long as you don't recontract/port out, but I doubt that will happen this time. You should go into it assuming that the discount will drop off at the end of the 12/24 months, and if it doesn't, then that's a bonus.

        • +1

          @Neale:

I've already seen this Neale. At the time i signed up the deal clearly had offer available to new and re-contracting services. I have a screenshot of this. It got changed later and now i don't know whether i am bound or not by the new contract i signed.

        • @rack:

Hey rack, did you get this sorted? I am going overseas next week so I called them today to confirm I will get it before I leave and was told they couldn't find my order in the system either. The representative then proceeded to put me on hold, for 40 minutes and I just couldn't really wait anymore as I had to get back to work.

        • @lalala1111:

Nope they never found my order and following then when I said I have a confirmation said it didn't go through because I was a recontracting customer. Their response to my screenshot where it said offer is for "new services and recontracting services" was that the plan is available to recontracting clients but discount is only for new customers. Ridiculous. I had to port to their prepaid and my number is still not being accepted after 5 days.

  • Hi Everyone

  • Is it possible to stack the 10% student discount on top?

    • no

  • Can one of the Optus employees let me know if contractors get the referral as well? I haven't been onsite to check my Optus email but if so I probably have my own 10 to offer, and will try and find out how to get my link.

  • whats that you say, you want even more links? ok here is another.

    Susan: https://offer.optus.com.au/employeeadvantage/offer/?in=OPTUS…

  • Hi guys

here is a new link for you

    https://offer.optus.com.au/employeeadvantage/offer/?in=OPTUS…

    Thanks.

  • Just signed both me and the missus up.

I was with optus, ported out to telstra, but I think I forgot to enter the port number details. Hoping I should be able to do it before activation.

  • Hi, another fresh link for you: Optus offer link

  • FYI for those ordering S7 edge. I placed my order on the day this came out (1/3), and contacted optus today, say on back-order, will get order number in 1-2 days

  • Here is another link for those wanting 25% off Optus plans. Get in quick, only 10 available

    https://offer.optus.com.au/employeeadvantage/offer/?in=OPTUS…

  • Please confirm if existing Optus Prepaid customers who wish to keep their existing phone number have to port out to apply for this promo, or if there is another way?
    Thx

    • +1

      Hi Ahitchy
This offer is available for Optus prepaid customers. You do not need to port out.
I have sent you private message with link to try. Thanks

      • +1

        Hey

I went from optus postpaid to prepaid a couple of days back and I can't sign up - getting the error message this number is not eligible. So yea I'm on optus prepaid but I cannot sign up. Can you help. Thanks!

        • +1

          neovin,

The link the amsaini15 provided worked, i'm not sure if it was any different to the others I had tried or whether it was a coincidence that their systems had just recently updated??

  • I have no idea whats happening with this offer - maybe they are backlogged!

Signed up midday on the 1st of March, received a Temp Order number and nothing since!!

It looks like a few people here have the same issue but others have received their product - guess we'll have to be patient.

  • Hi everyone
Please use fresh link with all 10 slots available.

    Omar - https://offer.optus.com.au/employeeadvantage/offer/?in=OPTUS…

  • Could anyone please confirm when signing up to this deal with a new number on a 24 month plan, what choices do we have re. activation and the start date of the contract? i.e. is it automatically activated when we receive it? Or is it not activated until we ring up and activate it ourselves? Can we delay activation/beginning of contract for a few weeks after receiving phone and sim if we choose?

Can anyone from optus please give me some more infotmation? Thank you

    • As per terms and conditions it states 25% discount offer ends 31 March 2017. Family and friends who sign up by 31 March 2017 must activate their new service by 30 April 2017.

      "Terms and Conditions

25% Family & Friends discount: Family and friends of Optus employees who receive a unique link shared by an Optus employee, will receive 25% discount of access fees for 12 months when they sign up to a 12 month SIM Only Online plan or 24 months when they sign up to a 24 month My Plan Plus. Available to new services only. Offer ends 5:00pm AEDST on 31 March 2017. Family and friends who sign up by 31 March 2017, must activate their new service by 30 April 2017. 25% discount will be applied from your second bill."

      • I saw that but when i spoke to someone on the phone they said the contract starts as soon as you receive the phone in the post and its automatically activated within 24 hours so im a bit confused?

        • Seems like confusion everywhere even with phone operators. I've taken up plan once I read I had up til 30 April to activate it so anything different to that and I'll be calling them. It should be as stated in the terms and conditions though.

        • @jetjump:
I agree. I also signed up thinking i had until 30th april to activate. But the phone operator said the contract starts the day you sign that you received the phone as thats equivalent to signing a paper contract in store? I wish there was someone we could speak to about this offer specifically. Ill be annoyed if my contract starts when i receive the phone as i too signed up thinking i had until 30th april to activate.

        • @cinnamon85:
Reading previous comments in this thread it seems as though the phone operators are not up to speed with this. Much misinformation being said to prospective customers. I think whats in the terms and conditions is the best way to go as its in writing so it has to be so. Previously when I've ported my number it is when you're ready to activate not on the day you receive it as they don't have all our details at this time re payment.

        • @jetjump:
So confusing! So you have signed up to a 24 month plan & you're planning on delaying the contract start date too?? If you receive your phone let me know how you go delaying it.
I have a bad feeling that the contract will start as soon as we receive the phone.

        • Yes I'll let you know. I don't want to activate it til the end of March. Let me know how it goes for you as well.

        • @jetjump: i will let you know! hope they let us delay the activation

        • @cinnamon85:
I received my phone this morning. I'm not activating yet. Info in pack says you have to go online to activate. I'll let you know if it happens any differently.

        • @jetjump:
Well that didnt go as planned. Out and about today and lost phone service. I've checked with my current service provider to find out what had happened. Turns out optus ported my number without me activating it. Not happy. I'll be on the phone to them shortly. So inconvenient.

        • @jetjump:
Operator tells me that they port automatically. I said terms and conditions say differently. Operator just listened and said well how can I help you. No use speaking with them at all apparently.

        • @jetjump:
Was coming on here to post the same thing. Ours was automatically activated within an hour or 2 of receiving it! Very annoying. I havent rang up yet but i doubt there is anything they can do now its already active. I dont understand the line in the terms and conditions where they say about activating by 30th april! So they werent able to help you at all?

        • @cinnamon85:
Operator did ask if I wanted to be ported back. However they had already made so many problems for me how they did it that I couldn't be bothered. My daughter has rung and said not to port her until the 27th March and they said ok. Seems like you need to tell them not to port you not the other way around like it should be.

  • New link below for anyone who still need it-

    https://offer.optus.com.au/employeeadvantage/offer/?in=OPTUS…

  • Anyone had there order confirmed yet?
Ordered March 1st, Received temp order number for sim only plan.
March 2nd, spoke to optus about it to confirm details as they requested me to call them. Was given new mobile number during that call.
    But nothing since??
    No simcard, no confirmation emails.etc

    • i just contacted optus and got this message:

Seems the order is on pending status , this order can be moved to the next level once you have a word with the Online sales team who will submit a verbal recording of your ID details to complete the order
IF you're okay talking to them tomorrow I will now ring you up and connect you to the online sales team

      • i received my sim, i had to talk them again. and they pushed the process through.
all i was told was that "they didnt know why it wasnt confirmed after i had confirmed all details"

  • Ordered S7 on Wednesday (1 March) around 6PM and got the auto email with temporary email. Got a message from Vodafone (my current provider) on Thursday (2 March) that someone is trying to port the number (no email or call from Optus). Called Optus straightaway and was told the order has been approved and gave me an 8-digit order number to track it online.

Phone was shipped on Friday 3 March and received today morning. The StarTrack website still doesn't have it delivered though. It just says sitting in Melbourne depot waiting for delivery. So don't trust StarTrack online tracking.

    • I took the article event number from the StarTrack online tracking and went to the Aus Post tracking and found up to date info and that the item was being delivered today. Thanks for the heads up on the StarTrack website tracking not being up to date.

  • Has anyone received a SIM yet? I just got a text confirming my 'service is ready' and have been disconnected from my previous provider. However I have not received an Optus sim yet, so I guess no phone for a while…

    • +2

I believe the quickest ways is to visit an Optus store and ask them to provide you with a SIM card for that account.

      • Ta, yep you are correct, finally got a call back with the same response. Cheers.

  • Deal ordered x3

1st SIM Only $40 plan to $30 - arrived and number currently stuck being ported
2nd SIM Only $40 plan - still awaiting delivery
    3rd GS7 $65 plan - still awaiting

3 chats so far to Optus support to try and get the first one ported from iiNet to Optus, all in the correct name etc but still not happy.

Also, no one is able to add the $5 SIM for just a wireless broadband connection to data pool - everyone stating it no longer exists - any reps on here able to provide support and order this for me on the account I'm setting up?

    Thanks

Damn you're right, looks like they stopped data sharing sims in December

      • Unfortunately

Plus none of the sales people I have spoken to would sign me up for the $5 My Broadband Plus 500MB which I'd do to enable the data pool across the account - I don't see the benefit of doing the $15 version.

        • I spotted this post on whirlpool:

          http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2515156&p…

click on it and he was passed to several service departments when he mentioned his plan's CIS (Critical Information Summaries)

… So basically Optus no longer deny your eligibility when you quote them your CIS. They simply shuffle you around an infinite loop until they effectively wear you down. You can't raise a TIO complaint because no one has denied your eligibility (no breach) they just keep passing you around without any resolution.

  • Edit following

  • I am quite sure the answer is yes but just want to be sure.
Is this available to existing customers taking a new service?
I currently have 2 postpaid mobiles and 9 data share sims. I want to be sure I can add another phone service through this offer.

    • +2

      Hey mate
Existing customers are eligible as long as they are taking new service.

I have sent to my link by private message if you are interested. Thanks

      • Hi, I order the sim plan at 3/3/17,only receive a temporary order number! When I can receive the confirm letter? Thanks

        • Hey buddy
I would say just wait. Optus is probably inundated with orders and hence it is taking time. Thanks

  • Just found out that I had to register under my dads name to port my number over as my previous number was under a joint account with dad. But I had already ordered under my name. Is it possible to name change? Any way I can quickly get my number ported?

    • i am having similar problems . I am trying to port 2 numbers from the same Vodafone account to a new optus account . optus ported 1 of the numbers but wont port the other number because its under a credit check ??? . I don't get that as both numbers are coming from the same account

  • Here's a fresh NEW link for those wanting a sweet deal! https://offer.optus.com.au/employeeadvantage/offer/?in=OPTUS…

  • end of March is not cool, so many new smart phone will release after March. :(

    • that's why they're getting rid of old phones through this deal.

      • I know that's why it's uncool. Thanks mate

  • -2

Why no unlimited calls to 10 countries in 12 months SIM only plan 🙄🙄🙄🙄

  • +1

Put aside plenty of time if you want to contact customer service. The temp order number you get is useless with the contact numbers on their website and you will be transferred 2-3 times before you speak to someone. I have been on the phone for 1 hour and provided 2 different numbers to call and still have not spoken to anyone that knows about my order. No one was available for online chat either. All I want to do is change my order to a more expensive plan through this deal.

    • +1

Totally agree with allowing plenty of time. Online chat is useless for this unless you have got a confirmed order number - not the temporary one they email. I have been on 2-3 calls and each person I speak to seems to know nothing about the temporary order number. They have a separate hotline for this deal but very bad reception / hard to understand. 1300 929 949 seems to be the only number I have had success with.

  • Is there any way other than porting out to retain an existing postpaid mobile number onto one of these plans?

Happy to port out if that is the only option, but would prefer to maybe take up a second service, then cancel the old service and move the number onto the new service if possible.

  • +2

I signed up on the 3rd of March, received a temp order number but have not heard from Optus since (I had issues and had to resubmit the form a good 10 times, not sure if this is related).

I checked my inbox today, still no confirmation of order but I gave them a ring on 1300929949 and they got to me within 2 minutes and told me my order was actually confirmed, gave me my order number then they transferred me to the delivery team who said the sim is on it's way today!

Hope that helps anyone who hasn't got a confirmation email from Optus yet.

If you're stuck on a temporary order number, don't bother with the live chat team as they told me they don't have access to that information, apparently only the call sales team have access.

  • Applied on Thursday and got temporary order number same day, later informed they can't port existing Optus number. On Monday I ported to Vodafone.Today called Optus and quoted old order number and problem sorted manually. They said it will arrive within 3 days…..

Can people please check their contract and see if it includes the 25% off on the contract. I just got my confirmation order and it says nothing about the discount

    • +1

      Hey mate
It wont show up on contract. Just wait for your 2nd bill. Thanks

      • Thanks, was a bit worried

      • +1

Is that mean full amount for 1st bill then rest of 23 bills are discounted?

        • im interested to know if its full amount for first month then 25% thereon

what a joke the 1300 929 949 number is always busy…. tried 6 different times of the day ….

  • Just a reminder to Optus employees.

    • Post the link ONCE only. Only post another link if it is different.
    • I'm updating the description/links when they run low.
    • Don't PM me or any other mods links.

There are currently 10 links in the deal, potential giving up to 100 signups. There are 34+ links in the queue to be added. All up 44+ links with 440 spots to sign up for 25% off and 3 weeks left in the deal.

I will be marking comments with just the links as off-topic (you can click to see the comments or change your settings) so users who are having issues with signing up can see the relevant comments.

Got the email with temporary order number and says to call Optus back. Problem is every time you call it says wait of over 30 minutes and tells you to call back later.

    • Same been trying all day and yesterday too…

  • Just ported out of OPTUS last night to Telstra prepaid I can't port back in and the person on live chat told me that I will need to get a new number to take up the offer. Has anyone successfully port back to OPTUS?

    • +1

I did this last week for my wife. Ported out on Tuesday night but could only sign up to this deal on Friday… think it takes a few days for the Optus database to clear.

Haven't received sim/phone though, do have a order number.

    • Hey blueyhumor
I have confirmed with our internal support that it can take time for system to update. I would suggest to wait for 3-4 days

Thanks! Missus Telstra plan had just come out of contract and they didn't want to come to the party and discount.
Got the $22.50 12 month BYO plan. Pity I resigned with Telstra a couple weeks previous :(
Ordered Thursday, Sim received today, activated and ported over now. Couldn't be easier!

  • Hi Guys got another link here.

    https://offer.optus.com.au/employeeadvantage/offer/?in=OPTUS…

No offers have been used yet at posting

  • Here's another link guys if your interested.

    Thanks

    https://offer.optus.com.au/employeeadvantage/offer/?in=OPTUS…

  • can you up or downgrade your plan from the existing options? or is this a one time thingy and if you opt for greater or less data you lose your 25% discount?

    • I would suggest to chose appropriate plan right from the beginning rather than changing it in the middle of contract.

Send me private message if you need a link. Thanks

      • ok, im trying to ascertain how much i will chew through a month. probably a lot.

  • I have an existing postpaid mobile with Optus and I'm thinking of using this deal for the missus - I have a second sim under my name that she uses and it's currently pre-paid with another provider.

Does anyone know, if I sign up using the referral links here, will this second mobile be automatically added to my existing Optus account? I want them both to be on the same bill so I get the data pooling, and I don't want to jump through hoops to do that.

Could I just give the online chat folks a referral link and they sign me up without me having to fill in the form myself?

    • I queried this myself with optus , optus informed me one code per service , so one code per phone , it makes no diference if they are on the same account . the chat folk cannot help , must be done online , chat cannot offer the 25% of deal .

    • rottwell is right. As long as account holder is same, it should not be a problem.
Also accounts can be merged under one account even later.

Let me know if you need a link. Thanks

  • Can optus contractor sign up using 25% code as well?

    • Yes, as long as you are ordering new number, porting from other carrier or changing from prepaid.

Send me private message if you need the link. Thanks

      • Offer is available for friends and family of Optus employees including Retail Co (Contractors and franchisees excluded).
Isnt this mean Contractors are not allowed?

        • @Reservin
What they meant is that Contractors and Franchisees would not get a link to signup friends and families.

They are still free to signup to the offer as a customer.

        • @amsaini15: I think that means only Optus employees friend and family including Retail Co are eligible for offer.. Doesnt mean that only permanent employees are getting discount link to share..
Also if I sign up for $40 sim only plan, first bill will be $40 then 2nd to 24th will be $30?

  • +1

Please dont hate me because of Amway, but you can also get 25% off at any time via Amway's IBO offer.
I signed up as an IBO just to get the deal. The plans arent as good value as optus but in the past when I have traveled to the country for work, I found Telstra's network to be superior.

  • Placed an order for SG7 on Sunday and the order has shipped today. In last two days, I nagged Optus like anything - called them twice a day on their 949 number (yes the wait time was more than 40 minutes) but it was completely worth it.

I am porting from Vodafone and as my cycle starts on 10th of every month, I had to get the SIM by 9th to ensure that Vodafone doesn't charge me $130 (as they don't charge on pro-rata basis anymore). Thanks to all those at the call centre who helped me getting this far.

    • You are lucky,
I placed my order on Saturday night. Get a message from them and called them Monday afternoon to be advised my order won't be delivered until next week :(

  • Morning Guys,

I've given my family an opportunity to get the 25% offer with only 1 taker so the rest is OzBargains. Thanks to the mods for their efforts in maintaining this whole deal.

Also welcome Optus Employees who are new to OzBargain. Going to have to be quicker than usual to snap up the deals now :)

  • Can anyone suggest a good case for the S 7 please?

  • Anyone else having an issue when trying to keep their number?

    • Are you an existing postpaid customer? The offer is for new connections only.

      • No I am a telstra prepaid customer, forgot to mention this sorry.

        • Hey buddy.. You should not have a problem.

Optus are hopeless. My partner and I ordered 2 phone plans on Sunday. His was shipped on Monday, I still hadn't heard anything about mine, I phoned today and was advised mine hasn't been approved because I didn't pass the credit check. I have a good credit score, we own our own home and have a good income, yet no one at Optus can tell me why mine wasn't approved. Over 2 hours on the phone and no answers and no offer to help, very poor customer service. Will now be cancelling our home phone and Internet with them. Can anyone advise me, is my partner able to cancel his phone plan? It has been shipped but we haven't received it yet. Thanks in advance.

    • -1

      Why the negative votes??

      • I had the same issue with you and they send me round and round before they admit the credit check staff made an error.
My advice is to call them again and be persistent but remain calm and polite, after all they are just doing their job.

I called the number that they left when they wanted more information and I didn't have to wait in the queue.
PM me if you want the number.

  • Anybody got a call from Optus asking for your DOB? Somebody called me, from optus, asked for my date of birth to proceed my temp order. I didn't give him.
    Is this a normal process?

    • Uhm, yes? They use it to identify you, and I believe it is also required when you port a phone number to another provider.

  • Has anyone else signed up for the 8GB+4GB plan? What does it show for your data usage in the app or online? Mine shows 10GB. I contacted Optus to query this and the rep said it will only show the bonus 2Gb once the initial 10GB is used, but I'm not convinced. If that was the case wouldn't it show the base 8GB and the 4GB once I've used the 8GB?

    • Hey mate I asked about this too. First person on chat said the same thing - that the extra 2gb is available after spending 10gb. Chat was disconnected so I asked the next person who said it should correct to 12gig after the first month

      • Yeah I've read the same on Whirlpool. People are being told it will go to 12Gb after the first month.

    • Clearly says when you sign up that extra 2gb will be creditd from 2nd month

Optus sweeping australia's customers with this deal

  • +1

I installed the "My Optus" app. I am not impressed that it is used as a "crowd sourcing" data collection tool by Optus. Unless you switch it off, it will sample sample "connection quality" (mobile towers, WiFi, etc., presumably also getting GPS locations). This will drain a lot of power. I suggest people turn it off. Same for push notifications.

  • +2

Signed up to the $40 SIM plan. Haven't activated yet but my friend did and only showed 10GB. So I decided to have a chat with Optus before activating and they told me I will be getting the 12gb but it will only be reflected on my account & app from the second billing period.

Asked about the discount since it wasn't in the contract and was told I would have to pay $40 for the first month and the 25% discount would start from second billing period. So I asked if the extra $10 I paid in first month would be given back to me in second bill but was told no.

I mentioned when I signed up it said "Min. Total Cost $360 over 12 months" so it should be $30 each month then after few moments was told that it would be credited back to me after the contract ends or I change the plan.

Not too happy so far…they've really done this poorly. Everything is so unclear and I can't believe the contract doesn't reflect the plan we actually signed up for.

    • In the same boat and totally agree. They even mailed my sim to the billing address instead of the delivery address.

  • Are the iPhones unlocked?

    • Yes, it's unlocked. I just tried yesterday. All postpaid iphone is unlocked, i think i also read it somewhere on optus website.

  • +1

Optus changed my delivery address to my billing address without authorisation. (addresses were different on confirmation and despatch).
Called them on Friday night to have this rectified. Rep said they would do it.
Come Tuesday I get a missed you card from star track leaving it an LPO not even my local.
This LPO closes at 5pm and not possible to make it there.
Optus couldn't even courier to me same day to rectify their mistake.
Somehow managed to get a $45 dollar credit promised to me at this price they could get a courier to drop it off to me same day.
still highly doubtful i will get $45 credit.

Somehow i always have problems with telcos.
Last time Optus sent me a phone without a sim card and tried to bill me for the period that i didn;t even have the phone in hand and ready to use.

    • I had the same problem regarding the billing address and delivery address being changed. Came home to a Startrack "missed you" card too. I was fuming because only hours earlier I'd waited on hold for 30 minutes to confirm something else Optus were querying and at the same I asked them to confirm the delivery address. I was told the correct address and yet they still tried to deliver to my billing address.

Fortunately, my father in law was able to pick up the phone from the post office today, on my behalf. I wouldn't have been able to get there until Saturday.

Optus's online chat and issue resolution is very very bad. I ported myself from Telstra for this offer and even before I initialised the number porting and the service, I requested them to move me to a higher plan with the same handset and they wont understand. They asked me that there is no way of doing that other than me cancelling the order and sending the phone back even though I wanted the same handset just a bigger data plan. Make sure you select the right plan at the first go else you are going to regret it! Spent almost 4 hours with the support and still not sure if the discount is applied after they put me on higher plan!

    • totally agree. different agent has different idea and different suggestion.

  • Ordered S7 with 7GB late last week (Friday), received an order number on Monday however no updates since.

Online chat said there was a mismatch of birth dates on the Optus system and my current provider (Boost), called Boost confirmed details are the same.

Online chat again said there wasn't a mismatch… and told to call the online order team… which aren't sure why there's a delay

Just leading new users to go around in circles!

  • im thinking of going from a sim only plan to a phone plan im guessing it wont work with this ?

  • For those who ordered the Samsung Galaxy S7 on the $65.00 plan, did you receive the Gear Fit 2 with your delivery? I have not received mine. I'm contacting Optus to see what the go is and will report back.

  • +1

gear fit is via a separate samsung promotion and it takes about a month

  • My contract runs out on the 18th. I have had to bring my S5 in for repairs on Thursday (2nd time in a year).
Today I got told I could pick up my replacement as my phone wasn't repairable.
It was a factory refurbished handset and unfortunately it was DOA. It will not pick up any network.
The store staff tried multiple sim cards.

So they now want to send this broken phone, that I got to replace my broken phone from last week, again for repair.
    That's 2 phones in 6 days. 3 Phones in a year.
Thus I'm in need of a new phone ASAP.
I want to keep this number though.

I guess if I arrange a 2nd plan right now, I will lose my current number as soon as I cancel on the 18th? I'm just worried optus is going to ozbargain (cancel) this deal before the 18th…..

  • Hey guys,

Feel free to use this link.

    Enjoy!

Shoot, Gear Fit 2 promoters don't accept a photo of the IMEI on the box for the promotion purposes. They only accept the IMEI on the phone screen, which means I need to break the seal and turn the phone on to dial #*06# to get the IMEI photo which means I won't be able to get the best price for it on Gumtree/eBay.

    Thanks Samsung….

  • I still havent received an actual order number, only a temp one, it has been 2 days :(

    • +1

Hey mate ..Optus is inundated with this offer and is taking longer that usual.
People do get worries first few days but General feedback is that order is eventually moving for them.

  • Here is another link to take up this offer

    https://offer.optus.com.au/employeeadvantage/offer/?in=OPTUS…

    • Thanks - Used your code. Like others I received an email from optus asking me to contact them regarding my order. In case they ask can you PM your full name if they want to make sure that i am a "family or friend"

      • Dont need any details anymore - my phone call to optus went well - they just needed to confirm an address

  • I signed up last week and received my sim card 2 days ago.
I haven't activated my Optus, I'm now getting 'SOS only'on my existing service (Virgin) without my authorisation.

    Is anyone having this issue?

I never received SMS asking to port/activate now.
The only SMS i received says 'OPTUS MSG: Please call Optus to complete the port you can chat with us here… or call…'

    • +1

I suspect they automatically port within a few days of you getting the SIM. Why not just port?

    • Have you tried putting your Optus sim in phone? I am guessing porting has completyed and your Optus sim should be working.

    • Yes happened to me too. I rang Optus and they offered to port me back but they just made too many problems when suddenly I had no service on my phone. Terms and conditions state you have to activate by end of April. Optus operator told me its automatic. Not in fine print though. Just not good enough!

      • +1

Yep just a heads up for anyone who wishes to activate Optus service at the later stage.
My advice is call Optus asap once your sim card has arrived and tell Optus not to port your number yet.

  • BE AWARE!!!!!!!! I was just been contacted by Optus, they asked me to provide the employee's information who sent me the link, they also told me we won't receive the discount if the employee did not provide their special discount team with our information….

Can any Optus staff certify this ? That sounds quite odd to me

    • +4

Well, let's hope "Ronny" remembers me fondly. All the good times we had together, like when he posted that link, and I clicked on it….

    • That would be extremely unfair

      • looks like a trap

    • +1

If I don't get the discount, Optus is going to highly regret having a customer like me.

      • hahahahahaha

    • I received an email summary of critical information of my contract from Optus.
No where on the contract the discount can be seen.No mentioned of the discount anywhere in the email. Basically they said it's 65/ month. So I tried to call/ live chat but have been unsuccessful to get anything in writing to confirm the discount. They said that the discount will apply from second bill. I hope they are not trying to screw us all

    • Herre, Some people have already got service working. I highly doubt this is happening. I dont think you need to worry about it.

    • In the order email sent to me by Optus, it clearly says 25% discount will apply from 2nd bill onwards. Clear written proof :)

  • hehe, optus is so good at this sh1t things. if give me another chance i never apply this sim plan. waste me at least 5 hours to make a phone call and web chat with their sales, and didnot slove the problem with id check something balabala. and at the end, 25% cannot approve? beautifull job, optus!!!

  • Here's another link.

  • I am currently with optus my plan runs out in May, i want his offer with the s7 edge on 10GB contract for 63.75. What is the best way to keep my number, port out then port in right ? I also heard that optus call about the friend who works for optus and if you dont actually know them the dont give the offer. Also worried about them not giving the 25% after month. Your help is appreciated.

    • +1

steveray9a, that sounds like isolated case. Many people have already got service activated.
As long as you are asking for new number, porting number from another carrier or coming from Optus prepaid, you will be fine.

Send me private message whenever you are ready to use the offer and I will send you link. cheers

      • Thanks for the msg, i cant PM yet as i am new (not sure how long it takes to let me). I will get this offer in a few weeks as my prepaid doesnt expire until 22 may. Just so i am clear on what i need to do, i will buy the 10GB deal via your link (which we will sort out soon), do i then choose to port my current optus prepaid number or ask for new number then port after ??? Obviously i want to keep my current optus prepaid number and i was under the impression i need to port out then port back in. Also, can i buy this in deal March but no activate it until May when my prepaid expires so i am not paying for 2 contracts ? Thanks again - you're very helpful !!

        • Ask to port in your current Optus prepaid number. You dont need to port out of Optus prepaid. This deal is available for you.

I dont think you can hold onto this deal until May. General idea I am getting is you need to activate it soon.

    • Applied through your link. Hopefully I can get the sim card quickly.

      • Thank you 😊 hopefully should not be too long however there is bit of delay due to large activation

  • Hi all,

Submitted my porting request to Optus from Amaysim and it hasn't yet been actioned. Is this due to the large number of port requests or did my request get lost? Last time vodafone to Optus took just 30 mins!

I really would like this done by tomorrow as that's when my Amaysim plan renews.

    Thanks.

    • Which link did u use ? There is bit of work hence bit of delay due to large number of orders

        • I know there is a large numbers of activation us happening this week hence there may be bit of delay however feel free to contact optus customer service and they should be able to tell you further on your orders.

        • Thanks mate. Did earlier in the evening and was told the service would be transferred tonight so see what happens tomorrow morning. Hope I'm not caught outside without reception and data all of a sudden :(

        • @NimitzHarrington: you will be alright mate good luck

        • 5 days has passed and still no activation from Optus. It would appear Optus really does not want my business?? :(

  • So.

On Sunday 5/3 I ported from my old Optus deal to Telstra prepaid.

Signed up as a new service for the $40 plan as a new number.
Got a call on Wednesday morning confirming the order. They asked wether it was for a new number or was I bringing my old number. I said I wanted to port in my old number. Was put in the system. Order processed. SIM card posted out that day.

About 530pm yesterday afternoon, my Telstra SIM lost reception/went to SOS only. Got home, SIM card in the mail box, put in the phone. Port had been completed successfully.

4 days with not making calls/data with no credit on Telstra was painful, but it was fairly quick.

    • I have a few questions if you don't mind as I am trying to do the EXACT same as you!

How did you port your old Optus to Telstra prepaid, did you go in-store or online, and was the port to Telstra quick?

Did you have and charges to pay to port over? My current optus plan doesn't end until August so I will most likely pay a cancellation fee

      Thanks!

    • UPDATE: I have ported my number to Telstra prepaid, but now it is giving me an error saying "the number is not eligible for this offer" while trying to port. Did you get this error?

      Thanks

  • Hi everyone
Is anyone experiencing issues with placing order?
I tried 5 times last night on two different devices (laptop and phone) with different links.
Then again this morning twice with the most recent link by Olivia.
Everything is fine until I hit the place order button then it takes me to a blank page with some error messages.
Tried the online chat and basically got told to go and call telesales. I called them and they said they can't do anything either, it has to be done via the shared link and maybe the Optus site is experience some tech issue due to the volume.
Does anyone know what's going on?
My phone is literally shutting itself down 5 times a day so need a new one pronto :(

    Thank you.

  • Number porting team stuffed up in my case, porting completed last night (took them over 24 hours) but I had network both in Vodafone and Optus SIM. I was able to make calls using both Voda and Optus but all the incoming will route to Voda SIM. Called them this morning and they fixed it immediately but there is a problem - Vodafone doesn't charge on pro-rata basis anymore and my billing cycle reset on 10th of every month. This mean, I would now be paying full month of charges $50 to Vodafone because of their own problem. Because apparently (acc to Optus), Vodafone didn't release the full number which they were suppose to!

  • Ordered the S7 last Sunday and received a temp order number Monday morning. No other correspondence or notifications since. The phone was delivered today (Friday).

  • 1 month left exactly on my contract.

    Costs me $58.29 to cancel

Total benefit is $120 over 12 months ($30 discounted price instead of $40pm price)

Spoke to their retention team. No luck, they're so dumb. Rather have the business have one cancellation than to offer the $120 credit

  • Enjoy 25% off access fees on new postpaid plans with Optus:
    https://offer.optus.com.au/employeeadvantage/offer/?in=OPTUS…

  • Need some advice here,

My previous 12mo contract is long up already (Dec 2016)

I put in an order 03/02/2017 for the S7 plan $48.75 to try my luck; got a temporary order, and no followup - anyway just rang up and the person advised me that it won't go through because I'm recontracting and have an existing number, he advised me to add a new service/new number, told him okay, cancel the temp order I'll port out then back in and sort it out myself - I have 2 active data sims in use at the moment (still 3 data sims on the dashboard, extra sim is sitting around somewhere as an extra)

I want to retain the data sims (porting out my phone number may screw around with the sims, cancelling them or making them go to a monthly charge if I understand it correctly) but at the same time port out to re-add my number under the $48.75 as a new service.

To anyone with who's in the process of doing this or has done this; will adding a month-to-month service (and then proceeding to cancel once I can port out and in) allow me to retain the data sims? Is this the best way you reckon to go about it?

  • will be back to perth 20 March, wish still have optus staff to post their offer link.

    Thanks

  • Hi , here is another link in case you want to use - https://offer.optus.com.au/employeeadvantage/offer/?in=OPTUS…

  • Employee here… and I was wondering how its going for other employees…? It says that 10 people have used my sign up link.. but then it says that not a single one of those 10 have activated yet. I don't see how that makes any sense?? I put my link exactly 1 week ago… I don't understand..? Is it that people are just not activating this… OR…. I know it sounds dodgy… some employees are using up the referral links.. so that…. dare I accuse… their link gets used up by legitimate people?? Now I feel dirty for accusing… But not understanding the non-activation…. I guess only 1/3 through the month… But yeah, wondering about others experience????

    • It is possible that postpaid customers have been able to use the link but the service would not activate for them (because existing customer).
This means its a waste of one referral for us :(

    • Could due to the DNS error thing that some people encountered …

    • +1

it probably means, that 10 people have applied and all 10 could have been rejected based on credit criteria etc…

  • Freaking Optus sent me a letter on the mail saying my application for my postpaid plan has been denied due to failing credit checks?!?!?!?! WTF???!!! Then when i called the sales team..they told me that my order is ready for dispatch on the warehouse. They were apologising for the letter! But how the hell that mishap happens??? Are they really bombarded with applications that they couldnt tell which one is which?

  • Late to the party - made sure my mates got sorted. 4 redemptions available. https://offer.optus.com.au/employeeadvantage/offer/?in=OPTUS…

  • Can anyone or employee help me with this question, I am currently an existing OPTUS post-paid customer with 3 months left on a sim only contract, is it possible to change to pre-paid and then register for a new plan with the 25% discount whilst keeping the same number? Thanks

    • Hi dblade123
Yes you can do this but please check if there would be cancellation charges if you break contract.
Secondly, when you change to prepaid and thento postpaid using this deal, keep some extra days for Optus system to update and allow you signup with this offer.

Send me private message when you need a link and I will help you out. Thanks

      • How long after you put those orders through did you get the call from them? And did you receive any email confirmation despite the error?

    • Yes. The email which gives you the order confirmation and a temporary order number also mentions the 25% discount along with the plan details.

    • My signup didn't mention the 25% discount either. Has anyone else had this and what did they do? :)

    • +1

I just tried and having the same issue. I was an existing Optus customer then ported to the Telstra prepaid. One of the Optus employee said above that it takes 3 to 4 days for the Optus system to recognise that you have ported out so try again over the next few days. Keep me updated on your progress because I am in the same situation as you :)

FYI guys, The billing system Optus has seems a bit confusing.

Apparently the first bill you won't see the discount, it come across in the second bill as a credit.

  • +2

I did the maths - so over 365 days (1 year) on a $40.00 sim plan with a 25% discount, total payment is around $401.

Because the plan renews every 28 days, there will be 13 payments over 365 days = 13*30 = $391 + $10 because the first payment is $40 and rebated $10 on the second bill.

    • Not sure why you're getting down voted, considering there are so many Optus reps in here, it would be simple for one of them to correct you if you're wrong.

    • +3

How about the 24mth phone plans? The min cost and the 25% discount appearing on the 2nd bill doesn't add up.

      For example; Samsung s7 $48.75/month
      $48.75*24 = $1170 (specified min cost)

      Alternatively,
      $65 (first month) + $48.75*23 = $1186.25 (discount applying on 2nd bill)

      Can anyone clarify this discrepancy?

      • This is what I aksed before, but no one answered.. I called optus before and Rep explained there will be 25 (?) payments, but couldnt understand his point.

    • +1

Only the pre paid plans with a monthly expiry are on a 28 day cycle. All Optus post paid plans bill the same day each month.
You will pay for 12 months in a year with any contract available with this offer not 13 months like pre paid.

    • where did you find this info? its says 12 month plan.

Has anyone received a bill from Optus already? My service has only been activated for three days and I'm charged with $40….Is this normal?

EDIT: Seems like it is a "deposit" and would be given back once the contract ends or changes. This is quite disappointing. I don't think it was mentioned anywhere that we will have to give a "deposit" when our service activates. Does any other provider do this? Because I don't think Virgin did when I signed up with them. I regret signing up for this deal already…everything is just so dodgy.

I signed up for the $85 plan. Have received a bill of $85. No mention of deposit. It says payment of the plan is to be done in advance.

Expecting this amount to be $63.75 for subsequent months.

      • I was told it was a "deposit" from a rep on the online chat. Where did you see that payments need to be done advance? I couldn't see it on my bill or was it mentioned when you signed up for it?

I also expect the next bill to be $30 considering it will be the 'the second bill'. But this advance payment/deposit thing is ridiculous.

        • On the last page of the pdf bill - "Your first bill is simply your plan cost - one month in advance"

        • Hmm…I've just double-checked my bill and it seems that I don't have that statement on mine.

      • +1

I received first bill of no discount as well, apparently it mentioned about 25% discount from second bill, it doesn't make sense to me. That's mean we are paying extra a month of full bill. The contract summary doesn't shown any discount and i still have to wait second bill which i still hope and pray that 25% discount applied. It's really confusing Optus bill.

And my usage period keep changing every time i open it, firstly it was shown from 3 March (confirmation date) and later on change to 7 March (activating date). Why Optus can't make it clear regarding phone plan and discount? it's really annoying.

Could it be due to 30 days network tried out? because once we get second bill, it will be over 30 days, so they will charge us cancellation fee if we are not happy and cancel the service?

        • I like it how all the Reps are just ignoring this question.

      • From my experience of just finishing a 24mth contract a couple months ago, Optus' billing system is more of a pre-paid method rather than a post-paid method hence why you are billed shortly after your contract began. Nonetheless, that first bill will be considered your prepayment of the first month and the first bill out of 24. Any additional charges to the account during the prepaid month will carry onto the next bill.

Please feel free to correct me if I was wrong.

        • Thanks for your information, If the first bill is prepayment, that's fine with me but they (optus) should include 25% discount on first bill, not second bill.

In that case, we are all need to pay first month of full bill and 23 months with 25% discount.
Except we stay for 25 months and then we get 24 months of 25% off and first month of full bill. The total minimum cost as per sign up plan is not accurate.

Anyway let's see, if i can get 25% discount onward, i don't mind paying a bit extra for the first month, It's still quite save compare without any discount at all.

I just felt not right with the way Optus applied discount and misleading information.

  • I'm quite keen to sign up to a plan and came across this, if anyone has a fresh link or so and would like to share, please PM me.

    Thanks in advance :)

Edit: Some of the bottom links still work, my bad! Great deal, thanks so much to all the employees for sharing.

    • All of the links in the description + the main link work. Please use those.

  • Another fresh link for everyone :)

    https://offer.optus.com.au/employeeadvantage/offer/?in=OPTUS…

Hope you enjoy using optus perks deals such as cheaper movie tickets as much as me !

  • Is there a way to port out of Optus without copping the cancellation fees? and port back in?

I'm currently with an Optus BYO plan and can't sign up :(

  • Employee of Optus here feel free to use my link - https://offer.optus.com.au/employeeadvantage/offer/?in=OPTUS…

  • This deal is so tempting but have only recently signed up for the vaya annual plan. Can anyone tell me if the S7 is locked, will it work with a vaya sim card? Also how long does it take to receive the phone? I am going on holidays next Wednesday and would like to use the phone as a camera. Thanks.

    • Phone is unlocked

How long it takes to deliver seems arbitrary. I ordered a black S7 on the $48 contract for my wife on the 4th of March and they cannot give me an update of where the order is up to. But some ordered after have received it already.

      • Great, thank you.

  • Hi guys,

  • I signed up 2 phones for the sim deal nine days ago and got the temporary order acknowledgement emails but have heard nothing since. Should I get worried and contact Optus?

    • Yes, please contact Optus and they'll provide you an update.

    • +1

Lucky I called as it appears this had slipped through the cracks. After about 40 minutes on the phone hopefully it is all sorted. Guess I won't know until the first bills show up. Now let's hope Vaya play nice porting out.

  • Hey guys,

Here's my link if anyone needs

    https://offer.optus.com.au/employeeadvantage/offer/?in=OPTUS…

  • Is there anyway to do this for existing optus mobile postpaid customers? I am on the last month of a 12 month postpaid contract with them and was hoping to make use of it

    • +2

People in this post are porting out to Optus prepaid or other carrier and then port back in using the offer.
      No other way unfortunately.

Please send me private message if you need a link. Thanks

  • Hi, I signed up the sim plan this morning about 9 am and never heard anything since. Is it normal?

    • +1

Hey mate ..Yes it is normal. Just give couple of days and you should receive a temporary number.

      • Ok thank you

  • +1

    Hi Everybody,

If anyone is still looking to sign up, i have 6 discounts left!

    https://offer.optus.com.au/employeeadvantage/offer/?in=OPTUS…

    Thanks.

  • +1

I recently signed up with the Optus Galaxy S7 Deal + Gear Fit2 for $65 +$5 Handset deal for 24 months..

    THEN I saw this deal!

It's the same handset and plan deal, but with the 25% discount, it goes from $70p/m down to $48p/m also, from $5 down to $0 handset fee each month.

That is a massive discount to simply ignore each month.

Anyway, I tortured myself for not waiting those extra few days then I remembered Optus has a 30 day cooling down period… So yeah, you can guess what happened next.

I applied and surprisingly got approved for the 25% discounted plan, and the new S7 is being delivered in the morning.

I am going to cancel the current $70 plan, pay the first access bill as stated and activate and use the new $48p/m plan.

Now, I have already claimed the Gear Fit 2, and obviously, with the new S7 coming I can redeem another, but I will have to take a look at Samsung's terms. Optus website states that redemptions have nothing to do with them, so I had a quick scout on Samsung's redemption terms, but I can't see anything stating about cancelling a plan. Will have to look again when i am not so tired.

I already have an S2 'Sports' and an S2 'Classic' Gear, so the Fit Bit 2's don't phase me other than to either pay toward outright price for the first Galaxy S7 and gifting that to my partner as he is still on an S6 edge until he can upgrade to the S8, which I will probably get the S7 back then and can sell that off and get an S3 Frontier Watch.

Then again, I could send the phone back, sell those 2 Fit Bits with the S2 Classic watch and buy the S3 Frontier, which is on sale for $390 at the moment and have money left over for the original first bill and the secondary first bill, and a lunch or something.

Anyway, I went on a tangent there, sorry.

    • +3

be more considerate for the next person who might receive your phone. So please don't claim a gearfit for a phone which you will return.

    • I saw the comment reply below awhile ago but didn't bother replying until today;

but I think claiming the additional gear fit will be 'victimless' given that the promo ends 27 Mar and largely depends on what Optus does with opened/used handsets (apparently you have to screenshot the IMEI via the phone - unless you can do a mockup of the IMEI onto an existing screenshot that you have on hand - do they reseal it? etc), and IF there is another planned promotion that will start as soon as the offer ends.

    • And another:

    • Hi,
I tried your link and got a an unexpected error occurred message.
      Can you help me out?

      • Try another link (loads of them in description/main link) or change your information slightly when submitting.

  • Here's a new link for the 25% offer.

    https://offer.optus.com.au/employeeadvantage/offer/?in=OPTUS…

    10 Available!

    • Hi, can you PM me? I can't pm u. Interested to use ur link but i have question regarding the contract. Can I take up the offer now but activate it 30 days later? From my past experience Optus just automatically activate it once the sim was sent. I had a 2 hours online chat to sort thing out like that in past. Thanks

      • You can use any of the links in the description of the deal or the main link. I would suggest asking your question in the comments here or PMing some of the useful reps who have helped in previous pages.

This question/issue has been asked many times. The answer is technically yes but as you said it take a call or chat to ensure they activate it at a later time.

        • Thank you. Appreciate it

  • For those who are stuck in limbo with a temporary order number, I placed an order last Saturday and did not receive any temporary order confirmations. Just got off a phone call with Optus (1300 929 949) to confirm my details and obtained a order number.

    • I placed an order today, and received a temporary order number…

      SO WHAT'S NEXT?
It will take up to 48 hours before we'll send you an order confirmation email that you can use to track your order.

I hope it will arrive soon… because I need a new mobile plan before the weekend!

      • +1

Here's what happened with a black S7 order:

4 March - Ordered in the evening with temp order number

5 March - Received a proper order tracking number

9-10 March - Contacted a couple of times last week, just kept saying to wait due to backlog of orders, or unsure what's happening (was once told mismatch of DOB between current provider and Optus, and then was told there wasn't an issue)

14 March - Contacted online chat again today, was told the phone will be delivered by the end of this week

All up would have taken 2 weeks for the delivery… if it does get delivered this week.

        • I'm just looking for a sim card… so hopefully that will be processed a bit faster?

        • It came on the 16th March and was automatically ported once received.

    • Hi,

I tried your link and got an "an unexpected error occurred" message.
      Can you help me out?

  • Any idea roughly how long before i can sign up to this after changing from postpaid to prepaid. It's been 24 hours since and is still saying i can't sign up using that number.

    • Changed to prepaid on the 7th, I managed to apply yesterday

      • +1

I am really hoping that is not the case. 7 days is ridiculous.

        • this promo runs until the end of the month so you still have plenty of time =)

        • I changed mine on the 11th March, and until today (14th) still not eligible to sign up. 3 days and counting now…. prepaid sucks big time

        • @dblade123:

Dont give up buddy :) 25% is calling you ..

        • I ported to Telstra on the 11th and it is not letting me yet.

        • @rison:

I was just able to apply today! If you did yours on the 11th like me, try now, it should work!

        • @dblade123:

Yep mine worked today too! Now the wait continues to see how long for the order to go through

    • Shouldn't take longer than 24 hours. You can always walk into an Optus shop for them to check the status on your account but sadly they can't help you register for this offer in store. I suspect it may take longer if a lot of people are trying to do this.

  • +1

I got thwarted order number 2 days after the temp order number

But the contract mentioned full price of $120 per month while it should read 90$ per month and it is mentioned as recurring monthly payment

25% off is not mentioned anywhere in the contact

Any idea before I speak to Optus customer care ?

    • Neither my contract or CIS stated a 25% discount. Calling the optus rep did confirm that it was indeed applied to my account, however I might give them a call to confirm again once I have it activated

    • wait for the bill before you contact them as the 25% discount will be applied on the 2nd bill plus i don't think they've changed their T&C's just for this promotion hence we will all be getting a standard contract like signing up for the full price.

    • Same situation for me, i signed up for S7 Edge + 85 contract = discounted rate 63.75 per month. Official contract shows 85 per month. I Spoke with someone on C.Care and they couldnt guarantee me until service is active, they also said there will be cancellation fee if somehow this offer does NOT work on second month which is likely to be the 24 month contract cost which is a concern !!!! Hopefully some peeps will confirm this offer is all good after 2nd bill received.

*** If any optus guys can help here that would be good ***

      • +1

Yes, the discount will be reflected by the 2nd bill.

        Thanks

        • Will that discount on second bill show the discount for 1st month too?

        • @jrt2020:
          Yes it should.

  • can we share our data using optus data pool with a "Prepaid plan"?

    • i dont think so u can share data with a prepaid plan however check with optus customer centre for further clarification

Brilliant, thank you for posting, got the iPhone 7 on a "$85" plan with John's Link. After selling the iPhone and salary sacrificing the remainder, I'm paying $5.50 for 10gb / unlimited calls and 300 min of international calls for 2 years. Only catch is I can't cancel or get fired otherwise I'll have it make it up!

WOW - i ordered my S7 Edge on a new connection yesterday and its on board with driver TODAY, i couldnt be bothered with hassle of porting as im already on optus sim only plan. If anyone is still having major delays, lets hope its fixed up now, either that or I am just VERY LUCKY !!!

    • +2

OPTUS SENT ME THE WRONG PHONE - AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Im on the same boat, placed an order for an edge yesterday only to find out it was a regular s7 last night after it was shipped out. Ended up refusing the delivery today and now its just a waiting game…

        • +4

Mate, I opened the f***** box thinking it was the edge….. I spoke to a few muppets today before i eventually spoke to someone helpful, they are couriering out a new Edge to do a swap… If you have any hassle, PM me i have a name and number for sales support - who actually help you out !!!!

  • I wonder how this will impact the Optus network? Obviously there's a metric buttload of new subscribers…

Are they basically setting themselves up for their own version of #vodafail?

    • Optus has invested over a Billion in their network over the last year.

Can't comment on Voda, but Optus are constantly working to improve coverage with big $$ investment.

  • I am trying to redeem the Gear Fit 2 offer.
I don't seem to have any paperwork that shows the IMEI number.

Samsung's T&C on the offer require it.
    e) "Proof of Purchase" means either:
    i. a tax invoice clearly stating the name and model of the Participating Product, the Participating Retailer (including the relevant store details) from which the Participating Product was Purchased, the price paid for the Participating Product, and the time and date of Purchase; or
ii. a binding contract, lease, payment plan or welcome letter in relation to a mobile phone plan from a telecommunications company, telecommunications service provider, or telecommunications operator, (a Telco) or retailer, clearly showing:
    A. the claimant's name;
    B. the name, model and IMEI of the Participating Product;
    C. the name of the Telco or retailer from which the Participating Product was Purchased;
    D. the terms of the contract or lease; and
    E. the time and date of Purchase;

What did people use as "Proof of Purchase" ?

    • Optus sent me an invoice with the phone, use that to claim should be fine

      • Thanks - Yes just checked the printed stuff- there is a Proof of Purchase doc in there - silly me I was only looking at the pdf they sent. Cheers.

  • Hi Guys,

Last 2 weeks remaining, here's a fresh link if you like to avail.

    https://offer.optus.com.au/employeeadvantage/offer/?in=OPTUS…

  • Hi,

Here is a brand new link if anyone is still interested:

    https://offer.optus.com.au/employeeadvantage/offer/?in=OPTUS…

  • I got mine and im good to go wooo!

  • I just got screwed by Optus.
I ordered the sim only $40 deal.
I got the msm saying it was going through and to complete the port go to the link provided.
I still hadn't received any Optus sim card so I got on live chat to make sure they delayed the port until after my virgin contract was over in 5 weeks. They said bad luck, too late it is already going through.
After a trip to an Optus store for a new sim card and much messing about on Optus live chat my service is now active.
It will cost me a $120 early exit fee from Virgin negating all the savings through this deal, a lot of frustration and regret changing to Optus. Also an hour round trip to an Optus store including parking fees.
When asked if they could credit the account $60 to cover the service part of the early exit fee they said flat out no.
The live chat operator even said they experience the occasional hiccup with porting. It's one very expensive hiccup. At least it's only a 12 month contract.

    • I was also on the same boat.. I asked them to delay port so I could finish my current month, they said I had to 30 days to port in but got auto ported a week after I got my SIM.

    Question…

Regarding this 25% discount will be applied from your second bill and will remain on your service until you recontract

So if I order the Galaxy S7 on the $48.75 /month plan. How is this going to work out to be $1170 over 24 months, as the first month fees would $65 without 25% discount?

So total over 24 months would be = $1186.25?

    • +1

Someone in a previous comment wrote that an Optus online chat consultant confirmed the second bill will contain the discount for months 1 and 2. So your second bill should be 50% off.

      • My first bill has just come in at $70 including $5 left over from the previous month to month pro rata.
Does this mean my next bill will be $48.75 or around $27.50 with the discount taken off for month 1?

          Extreme on 10/03/2017 - 08:00

          So.

    • I was on a 12 month sim only plan with optus, ported out to vodafone for a day, then signed up and my new phone came about 4 days later :)

    Thanks.

  • Thanks for sharing :)

I'm with Voda at the moment, and want to swap over to Optus. My monthly billing cycle with voda has just begun if I sign up to Optus and get my number ported will I still have to pay for the month with voda or will it be charged pro-rata?

  • If we are on optus postpaid sim only, can we move to the phone plan without porting?

    • You cant mate, unless you port out to a carrier on a free sim offer then port back in. I couldnt be bothered with all this s**t so just got a new number.

  • Hi All
I am back with another code. Please send me private message if you need any help with the order.

    Hi Guys,

    If anyone missed out here's my completely unused link;

    Mick - https://offer.optus.com.au/employeeadvantage/offer/?in=OPTUS…

    Enjoy !

  • OK, so tomorrow my contract with Optus finally expires. Been waiting eagerly for the last 3 weeks :D
I just read it's for new customers only. I thought I could just extend with this deal too. Bummer.

Can someone please tell me how I can still get the 25% off and keep my number? If it's possible at all ofcourse.
If I cancel my subscription tomorrow and set up a new account, I will lose my number? I have had this number for a decade and would hate to lose it.

EDIT I did try to get through to the live chat this afternoon, but kept getting disconnected. I don't think I can contact support on the weekend.

    • There is only one option. Port to either optus prepaid. Chat with optus and tell them you would like to go prepaid. Wait 5-7 days and once your number is off their postpaid list sign up to this offer.

Can also post to another provider sic as voda and wait few days and sign up back into this plan.

    • Time is running for you. You better hurry up :)

      • Thank you, all done. Went faster than I expected. Just wished I didn't have to go the long way round. The switching from postpaid to prepaid was troublesome. Yet going back to postpaid went smoothly. At least I've kept the same Sim card and phone number.

Got the S7 today, but no gear fit :o(
Not sure if that will still be sent…….

        • +1

I am happy for you :). Not sure about the gear fit deal.

  • Hey All,

    I've still got 3 offers available @ https://offer.optus.com.au/employeeadvantage/offer/?in=OPTUS…

    Cheers :)

  • New ti this so I'm not sure!
Enticing deal but basically I am not able to keep my number if I port from Boost Mobile?
*EDIT - Disregard this question, got my answer

Thanks to all the Optus employees who are posting their discount links. Thanks for the $ savings.

Placed order online on 5th of March for $40 SIM Only (Hopefully will be $30), got phone call the following Monday to confirm the order and authorization credit check, however my order remained in limbo until Thursday 9th when I contacted Optus by live chat to give me a proper order number. SIM card got shipped Monday 13th and received it on Friday.

My $40 SIM Only port from Amaysim As-You-Go got completed yesterday after I gave Optus a call when I received my sim card. I called them on Amaysim, phone dropped out, put in Optus SIM, rebooted phone and now on Optus proper, pulled a 70/50 mbit Speedtest over 4G on my Nexus 5. Now to enjoy the unlimited Spotify, Play Music & iheartradio while away from Wi-Fi.

However on the MyOptus app it's only showing that I have 8GB of Data when it should be 10/12GB. Does anyone know when the bonus data will kick in on my account. Also will have to talk to Optus if the 25% discount does not show up on my second bill as my contract only shows $40 per month & 8GB of data.

    • +1

T&C You get free data after the second month. However, some people have been calling Optus and get extra data added the first month

    • did you get a new handset to? for $5 more u can

    Some answers:
    - YES, you can claim the 20$ discount on your broadband. I did this 3 months ago when I added the broadband (early january).
    - NEW CUSTOMERS ONLY. You can actually port out and port back into Optus but it will take a few days.

  • i just signed up for a s7 plan. will i get my phone in time to claim for the gear fit 2?

  • Can I port 3x of my numbers using this deal? I'd like to take 1x phone plan and 2x sim only plans.

    • yes you can. You may need 3 links to place 3 separate orders.

      • Thanks!

        • +1

I have sent you private message with the link to use. I will help you out if you need any help. Thanks

        • @amsaini15: Hi, Amsaini15, I am having trouble signing up with optus prepaid too. Are you also able to send me the link to use? many thanks

  • I applied for A5 2017 $35 is great for a plan, I hope i get it but not holding breath as I'm a pensioner.

    • Self funded retiree should work :)

  • got the zoe link :) 62.50 pm for 10 gb and a edge is a great deal (yes i know s8 is coming out but meh) time to upgrade from my lg g3 battery is dying
had to buy out of my sim plan but only cost 50 bucks :D . anyone know how long it takes for it for you to get confirmation (its on temporal)

  • Hi Guys,

Just wanted to share this discount with OzBargainers. Got this working link from my friend just now.

    https://offer.optus.com.au/employeeadvantage/offer/?in=OPTUS…

Good luck and enjoy the 25% promo. Would be good if OP can add this fresh link to the 1st page.

  • Does anyone know why the s7 went up in price? I swear it was 48.75 a month before??

    • Did it go up by $5 handset repayments?

I swear it was $48.75 about an hour ago….

      • Yea it seems like it but on their main website its still $65 dollars with no phone repayments. So mad

        • their live chat were completely useless; told me to call up during business hours

        • @dajackal: sigh I was waiting because my contract ends like in a day so was planning to either port out or bridge it :(

    • i know even the iphone 7 plus that I'm looking at did go up from $28 to $38 on handsets repayment bloody annoying.

  • optus just updated their s7 plan with a $5 phone repayment. .ported to prepaid 1 week ago and number still unavailable and now they changed the cost.

  • I cant believe the price of some phones have gone up! I signed up on the weekend to the s7 plan when it was $0 repayments and I have a temporary order number. I havent received a proper order number yet though. Will I still receive my plan with $0 repayments as that's what it was when I put the order through and the temporary email says $0 repayments too.

    • +1

same here, been waiting. Disappointed as we have hundreds of Optus employees here but no one gives a head up on the price increase.

    • Gone now? it used to be:

      $65 plan
      25% discount
      $48.75

      now it's

      $65 plan + $5 phone

      • Greatly appreciated in your help loke but unfortunately I was looking the part in the checkout where it says

        Samsung Galaxy S7 Repayments
$0 per month phone repayment. Including $XX Phone Credit. I am trying to see if anyone would know what $XX the phone credit to the phone would be

    • What can you do with the screenshort? They jacked up the phone price $5 for each month.

  • Well, it seems they don't do data sharing anymore. Buying 10gb of data to be used on the 1 device only, isn't practical for me.
    Not going to spend.

Are there any other providers that do offer data sharing on the 1 plan?

  • Deal is OzBargained, they increased the Samsung S7 price!

    • I got a S7 edge couple of weeks back with this deal in the $65 plan and $10 handset payment with be discount for $58.75 it's now gone up to $24 handset payment taking $72.75 - glad I jumped in when I did!!! Sneaky Optus!

  • Can I avail the $30 sim only (from $40) deal now and activate it last week of April or 1st week May? My current sim-only plan from click frenzy deal will finish next month.

    • Hey mate
You cannot delay activation for too long. Once you receive sim, you have 5-10 days when you have to activate.

I have sent you private message with the link. Let me know if you have issue. cheers

  • I know it might have been discussed many times. My situation:
    Currently - optus prepaid customer
Am I eligible for $40 sim only plan with 25% dicount offer?

    • +1

Yes you are mate. If you get error message you are not eligible, please give couple of days.

I have sent you link in private message. Thanks

      • Awesome !! using ur link :)

  • So I ordered an Iphone over the weekend and I am going overseas next week. Called them today to try confirm that I will be able to get the phone before I go. The lady told me that she couldn't find my application at all and then proceeded to put me on hold for 40 minutes (after which I just hung up because I really couldn't wait anymore). has anyone had similar issues?
How long did you guys wait until you received your phone?

  • Perhaps a stupid question, but do the tablet plans apply too?

    • Mobile plans only- With or without sim.

  • Man that sucks that they jacked up some of the prices. Was really tempted to get the S7 plan a few days ago as well :(

  • Sucks that the prices have gone up on the popular phones.

I've had a fairly good experience. Ordered 16th, got proper tracking number next day (Fri) and the phone arrived today. Three business days to get it. Did not have to ring anyone up etc.

  • Huawei Mate 9 plans are still what is was before so get it now before they jack up the prices. Or they wouldnt because its not that popular.

  • +1

Definitely give them a call after you place an order. If I didn't I would still be waiting. Once you get them on the phone and they find your order they basically ask you the same stuff you put in the checkout page and then proceed to do the credit check. At that point it should be very quick. Had my phone call with Optus last Thursday and got my phone and new sim yesterday. Thankfully I applied before they increased the price.

Also, I was on a Optus postpaid to begin with. I had to switch to Optus prepaid, wait 4 days and then I could apply.

    Best of luck!

    • +1

Out of curiosity, the credit check was done on the phone correct?

I only ask as when I rung them up, he said I was approved then afterwards we were discussing keeping my number, put me on hold, come back and told me there was a mixup. Apparently the credit department needs 24 hours to do their thing, even after he told me I had been approved. Afterwards he appeared to want to hang up pretty quickly.

      • Yeh they said 24/48 hrs but only took one day

        • I got approved immediately. I cancelled my postpaid, took 2 days for them to switch me to prepaid. Then it took another 2 days before my number was eligible for a new contract. I filled in the info and got immediately approved. I ordered on Thursday and got my phone today, Monday.

          NO gear fit unfortunately :(

  • It's been 6 days since porting from postpaid to prepaid and still getting

"This number is not eligible for this offer.
Select "Give me a new number" if you would like to take up this offer on an additional mobile service."

    • Call them, it took 3 phone calls and 3 separate attempts to move from postpaid to prepaid. After that it took me another 2 days before my number became eligible.

  • Here is my personal link, 7 redemptions left.

    https://offer.optus.com.au/employeeadvantage/offer/?in=OPTUS…

  • Here's my link if anyone is still looking to get the offer: https://offer.optus.com.au/employeeadvantage/offer/?in=OPTUS…

  • Has anyone with a S7/S7 edge been able to use VoWIFI on the BYO plans?

I can see the VoLTE & VoWIFI options and have enabled them but cant see any of the icons in the status bar?

  • I'm on the iphone7 deal for 63.75 a month, when i check my usage it says 8gb and a friend of mine says 10gb, which it should be. Rang them up and they gave me a link to reinstall the app and said it would fix, they reassured me i was on the plan but still says 8gb? Anyone have this error?

  • +3

Hi guys can i please get a link…

    • Seriously? There are over 100 in the description!

      • hi Neil … how would you like new links posted. I just got the (Referral or affiliate links in comments are not allowed)

  • how's optus' customer service still so dman bad,
I ordered legit a week ago, called them cuz I heard nothing back, says it's still in the process of credit check after having to wait 30 minutes to speak to a foreign 'customer service' operator

and what's the point of their webchat lmao they can't do anything

    • 30 minutes to speak to a foreign 'customer service' operator

Yep, I agree, its a foreign operator fault. After all, it wasn't Optus who outsourced their call centre…

      • huh?

    • That really sucks. I wonder why there is such a variance between each customer. I literally ordered mine on the 16th (Thurs), got my actual order number the next day (Fri) and got my phone on Monday. Didn't even have to get in contact with them even once.

  • hi optus reps,
i'm currently on prepaid optus, will this be any problems
to changing over? also, do i keep my existing sim or do they have
to send a new one out to me? if not, can they just change it in the system,
and i keep my existing sim?

    • You will be better off reading this whole forum to find answer to your question. Don't expect Optus rep to respond to you! You ask them a question and they throw you a referral link in answer…

    • +1

      Hey mate
I hope I have answered this for you in private msg. Let me know if you have any more ques. Thanks

      • good on you Rep, you are one of the few I have seen responding to people questions.

        • +1

Just trying my best to give back to the best community in the world :)

      • ok, thanks. i will check it out.

  • Very annoyed right now! I signed up BEFORE the price increase and just got my confirmation email and order number but they have signed me up with the increased handset repayment price. When I signed up it was $0 repayments and the contract they emailed me says $5 repayments. That's not what I signed up for! My temporary order number and email say $0 repayments.
Who can i speak to to fix this please?

    • You can call Vodafone and see if that helps!

On a serious note…you need to call Optus sales team, might take an hour to get through but there is no shortcut unfortunately.

      • I'll have to call them. So frustrating.
Has this happened to anyone else? I sure hope it's an easy fix and it doesn't stuff up my contract.

        • Same thing happened to me.

        • @justmaybe:
Have you called them about it yet? We're they able to fix it?

        • I spoke to Optus yesterday after a 1 hour wait anf they confirmed I will be getting a $120 credit straight up and paying $5 more each month which works out the same.

  • Those people who have ported to prepaid from postpaid check your online account. Your order even though you might have been told didn't go through because you were ineligible would have gone through. Optus is very very stupid but i don't have time to chat with them.

I ported out to prepaid on the 15th and it's been 8 days since waiting for my number to be released so i can sign up to the plan. I checked online today and my accounts says it has been on the new plan since the 15th. Don't know what has happened to the $10 recharge i made on my prepaid account.

  • Does anyone know what happens if we are not home when the phone is delivered? Is someone else at the house able to accept the delivery?

    • The postman/courier guy leaves the card in your letterbox and you collect from nearest post office.
You need to show your ID as parcel says only delivered to the recipient in above address.

    • Nope, calling card is left and you collect from the post office. Only the account holder can sign for equipment. Edit: opps someone already replied… What he said lol.

  • I have just an OK experience with this. Ordered sim only plan for 12 months last Friday. I received the sim card Tuesday (while I was out) and by Tuesday afternoon my previous service was disconnected, I wasn't aware that it was going to be automatic like that.

Tried to activate my sim card that Tuesday night and failed, kept displaying "no sim" warning, turned out they sent me a lemon sim card. Got to talk to a rep who seemed to be in utter disbelief that I got a faulty sim card (i.e. told him that my phone displayed previous sim card info which was Telstra, which means the new sim card wasn't working and he kept thinking I inserted the wrong sim card). Got sent to a store to replace my sim card, the sales rep there neither cared nor helpful, eventually they replaced the sim card though.

Was just gonna cancel the whole thing if it wasn't for the discount. If anyone is having trouble activating their service, it's worth checking if the sim card is a faulty one.

  • ok this experience so far has been a joke.

applied 1 time had to go instore to prove myself with passport etc and they told me to wait another 48 hours and still havent heard back from them after 48 hours and cause they cancelled my phone too early as i bought it out (was meant to end at the end of this period) i cant call :(

can a optus rep message me here ? would be lovely wanna get this going asap

    • why do you have to go in-store to prove yourself?? why can't you apply online? and this promo is online only.

      • because the online staff werent doing the job properly

the issue turns out was i was getting declined due to using a seperate address as a delivery address to my home address
when i went inside it was fixed instantly as they saw the issue straight away

now im worried that the 25% off hasnt been applied to my account and i didnt get the 10gb i was meant to either >:( also apparenlty optus systems are having issues so i cant call and confirm this

  • anyone else have really long wait times to confirm a number port?

Been calling the 1300929949 number everyday and the wait times are always half hour plus.

    • Yea i waited 1 hour plus .. Multiple times. Its terrible.
I still have a temp order. so slow.

      • yeah I finally got on the line and then it disconnected..
        haven't bothered to call back

    • How long did you have to wait? The OP did say it would take 3-4 days after a port to before porting back in.

If you have just ported out from Optus to another carrier and are porting back in to Optus using this offer, please allow at least 3-4 days for system to update. Eventually if you keep trying, you will get through it. Its just matter of time.

    • have you managed to port in?

  • Do you guys think it is too late to port out to another carrier on prepaid and take up this offer?

    • Yea too late, takes 3-4 days to update the porting, im still wating from friday 24th, before i can port back maybe monday

      • Damnit. I guess I am getting a new number and setting up call forwarding.

  • My service has been activated for a few days now, but it is still not showing the bonus 2gb data. Anyone else having the same issue? should I be chasing up Optus?

  • So how do we redeem the Gear fit if our phone is arriving after the promotion ends? (ie, cant provide a IMEI)

    • OK my bad the promotion ending means you have to order the phone itself before the 27th March - you can redeem after that when you receive the phone (but before 17th April).

      • How do you redeem? I ordered on the 24th and got the phone today but no gear fit?

        • @ezz88:

Thank you, but what do I use as proof of purchase number?
I have a paper delivery note that I got with the phone today, it doesn't state any proof of purchase number. Just SOS order number, imei, sim and phone number.

They also want you to upload proof of purchase. Is that the critical information summary?

        • @Shout It Out: Is there an invoice? Another person in this thread said to use the invoice as a Proof of Purchase. Also if you need a number use the Order number (it's like an 8 digit number that optus send you in their second email, not the temporary number). I spoke to a representative who said to use the optus order number to claim the gearfit. If in doubt call the gearfit promotion number 1800 900 730.

  • Anyone know how long it takes to port from Vaya to Optus for this?
Sim only. Both optus so i guess it takes longer than from another provider (don't get why same provider = longer)

    • I am still waiting after porting out to amaysim from 24th, my amaysim number's active but inputing the number into the deal says its ineligible.. hopefully it updates by end of this month. otherwise i m screwed. lol

      • Did exactly the same thing. Old Optus sim stopped on fri. Amaysim started working on mon. Managed to take up the Optus deal this afternoon. You should hopefully be good to go now, or tomorrow at latest.

        • Ah!! YES I got it after i gotten home today, Cheers! We succeeded before the gate closes!!

  • "will receive 25% discount of access fees for 12 months when they sign up to a 12 month SIM Only Online plan or 24 months when they sign up to a 24 month My Plan Plus"

Does this mean after the 12/24 months have passed, the discount will expire too?

    Thanks!

    • +1

of course it will, they're not santa claus who keeps on giving. They're only having this sale because of their 25th anniversary promo.

  • Hey y'all.

I'm currently on an Optus postpaid plan which expired last month, but somehow I can just keep going on with that plan by paying each month what I did when the 12-month plan was active.

I am hoping to change to the $120 (is $160 without discount) plan with the iPhone 7 plus (24-month contract). Is there someway I can still do this (even tho I am still a current Optus customer and have an account with them)? If so, how? I don't think I have time to port my number to a different carrier and then back to Optus in just 4 remaining days. Is it possible to still sign up to this deal with a new number even tho I am an Optus customer with my existing number?

Also, one of the extra's included with the plan I want says there is unlimited streaming of Netflix without it counting towards my data used. Is this true? How lenient are they realistically with this before capping me off?

Thanks so much in advance :)

    • +1

If you have read the 18 or so pages of this thread, you would've got your questions answered but to make it much more easier for you.

      • You can avail this promo by getting a new service number. (Up to you if you want to terminate your old number)
      • You can't use your old number as porting out will not give you enough time to port back in hence missing the promo.
      • Unlimited Netflix streaming is "unlimited" Netflix streaming but only on SD quality.
    • may wanna note you need a subscription extra for netflix (theres a guy selling netflix credit really cheap :) )

  • Hi everyone, I finally got my plan up and running and received my S7 today. When filling in the Gear Fit claim form, it asks for proof of purchase number. Does anyone know where I can find this? I can't find anything in my 4 page contract, nor do I see a proof of purchase number on the delivery note. Unless Optus has a different name for it?

    • +1

I think it's the Order number that Optus gives you in thier second email (not the temporary number) 8 digits long. I asked a Optus rep and they said to give this number. You can double check with Samsung promotions though: 1800 900 730

      • How long did it take for the credit check and the second email to get to you?

        • Credit approval took less than a day.

        • +1

Well it didn't happen the same night but I called Optus the next day and they put it through for me. After I got off the phone within 10 minutes my second email was there.

  • Hi guys I literally just ordered the S7 edge on the $85 plan for $63.75/mo. Currently 1.5 hours until the 'cutoff' for the Gear Fit. Slightly worried they may reject me as Optus has sent me a Temporary Order number, albeit the date says 27/03/17. Will I still be eligible for the Gear Fit if I have technically ordered it at 10:20 AEDT on the 27/03/17, even though Optus have to do the credit check etc. ?

  • None of the links seems to be working… They all so "xx is too popular". Is this over? I missed out :(

    • 44 links to choose from in description. They all work.

      • Ok thanks. I randomly clicked on the links and couple of them didn't work, for e.g., Amrit's, etc.

        • Cheers. Have removed a couple of dead ones.

  • It seems like price for every phone has gone up by $5-10.

  • I placed my order on the 2nd of March for the $40 sim only plan. I got a call the next day on the 3rd, but I missed that call so they emailed asking for my I.D which I replied back the same day. I've been on the phone with Optus (1300929949) quoting my temporary order twice now, and they said that they are still doing a credit check. Has anyone had to wait this long? Coming up to four weeks now.

    • +1

My wife's S7 order took two weeks (it probably should have taken 3 days).

She called 3-4 times each time telling her something different, so her order fallen through the crack I think from supposedly porting issues.

It was not until the last call she managed to get a real good rep who helped call around different departments to see what was wrong (think there was some false positive issue with porting). Phone got delivered the day after.

  • Signed up using Goran's link. Sean's already too popular. Thanks OP!

  • How is this such a an amazing deal!? It's a 12 month commitment!? The way mobile offers are going, the prices are only getting more competitive. And now you're locking yourself in. Personally, I'm looking at TPG. 7GB for $19 and NO contact (price only $19 for 6 months). Then if a better deal pops up tomorrow, I move to that.

    • +1

I normally always buy phones outright but this deal made me change my mind. I was on a 40 dollars postpaid plan with Optus and now I am paying 8 dollars more for more GB and a brend new S7. That extra money means that the s7 will cost me 210 dollars over two years, pretty good if you ask me. Even if I was to choose a BYO plan without phone for 30 dollars I would save 432 dollars over two years, which is still much less than the value of the s7.

I mean, I could sell my new S7 now and keep my old phone, could probably get 700 dollars for it.

    • I have to commit to optus for their data sharing sims (have 3, 2 sims are used by active users on dual sim phones, should have went with 5 sims, I hear it is discontinued but it can be gotten still with some luck and frustration) so it's more than worth it to use Optus as they use long expiry prepaid sims.

I was previously on 12mo $40 per month plan before a $10 telephone and broadband discount bringing it down to $30

Apparently they up'ed the discount to $20 per month at one stage which if I had known, I'd call them and be paying $20 a month for a couple of months.

Anyhow my family dropped optus telephone and broadband hence the next cheapest is $30 - 25% discounted $40 sim plan - so might as well go for the $48.75 - and snag an s7 + gearfit for $450 more over 24 months, bringing 10gb data to 7gb though (note 4 is still chugging alone happily though after 2 warranty visits - internals fully replaced - mainboard, usb daughterboard and screen).

  • Is the discount/ promo noted in the contract?

I signed up to the $40/12m sim only plan, got the contract today via email but only notes monthly charge of $40, nothing about the discount.

The temp order though did note the discount.

I assume itd still come through on the bills?

    • +1

Second bill will reflect discount I believe.

      • Cheers, yeah should be the case.

Called them earlier and got told not to stress, it's applied mostly from 2nd bill though sometimes even in the first.

Was just hoping it'd be in the contract too, can't really say I have much trust in optus based on previous experiences.

    • is your contract stated TOTAL minimum cost over contract term(s) $480.00 ??? Mine too

      • Yeah, mine says that too.

  • So there's an "outage" with porting numbers over at the moment. I tried yesterday and was told to call today and then I tried today and they told me to try tomorrow. P.I.T.A

  • My wife applied last Sunday as she is currently with Vodafone, unfortunately she totally lost her connection today from her current service (assume she has been ported out) but she has not received any confirmation order number and her new Optus sim yet. So annoying.

  • I sign up this promotion and request a new number.. not having updates til now and already contact ke live chat many times they told me to call the sales number which I need to wait 30minutes delay..

I just wanna get another contract form voda but what if optus processing my order too? how I cancel my temporary order?

  • Is there anyone else who signed up to any of these plans before the price of the handset was increased on 20/3? I signed up on 18/3 when the S7 was $0 repayments and the price of the handset went up to $5 repayments on 20/3. My temporary order email says $0 repayments but because they processed my order after the price went up they have put me onto a plan with $5 repayments. Has anyone else had this happen and how did they fix it as this is not what i ordered and not what my temporary order email says!

  • With all the drama everyone is having i'm rather hesitant to sign up to this. No doubt optus are getting smashed with orders

  • Very interested to know if tonight's Offical Samsung Galaxy S8 reveal will have plans listed on Optus' Website before this deal expires..

Can anyone enlighten me when the Samsung Galaxy S8 plans will commence on the site?

    • +1

https://www.gizmodo.com.au/2017/03/heres-optuss-pricing-for-… Was thinking the same thing. I'm a current customer so it looks like I won't be able to take advantage but $72.75 a month (plan price discounted, not phone repayment) for 7gb of data sounds pretty competitive. Presales start 12:01 on the 31 of March which is before this deal expires

  • +1

Optus porting still not fixed - waiting to transfer my number to Optus still. I received the phone and I've put my Virgin SIM in it (the phone's unlocked). I spoke to a rep who said I'm not getting billed until the SIM is activated so that's good.

  • +1

Interested to see if the S8 plans pop up in the next day or not.. they would be quite a good deal with the 25% off. Pity not enough time to port out and in though. And don't think I could handle the pain of changing my phone number after 20 years of having it.

    • Wanna know as well, it was already showed on normal optus sale page.

  • How long does it usually take for the order confirmation to arrive?

  • Will there be anymore links than the remaining few? As I have just moved to prepaid and now have to wait until tomorrow to start the contract (keeping my existing number) and don't want to get shafted!

    • Yes, there are loads. More links are added as the current ones are exhausted.

Currently 6 listed in deal with a max of 60 signups and this deal finished in 26 hours.

Probably have another 30 or so for a max 300 signups from all the Optus employees spamming their links.

      • BEAUTIFUL!!! Finally question, if the six listed in the deal right now finish tonight, will the other 30 be put up tomorrow? Sorry to drain it!

        • More links will be added in the next couple of hours. We've been updating the deal every few hours for the past 29 days…sort of like when they were punching in the numbers on LOST.

        • @neil: Need more links? :p

  • Just received first optus bill for the iPhone SE 64gb and they've charged $45.00 instead of $35. Has Anyone else been charged the normal price too….?

    • 25% discount will be applied from your second bill and will remain on your service until you recontract, change to an ineligible plan or cancel your plan.

  • Can someone help me out please?

I ordered my sim on online on Sunday night. I ordered one for my partner too. We will be data sharing, so both services will be in my name. I haven't received my sim yet. Have spoken to Optus, and they say there is a delay from an outage between them and my current provider ( Woolwoths mobile - Telstra) and untill that is fixed, they cant even send me out my sim card.

    Any help is muchly appreciated.

  • Is there an Optus employee who can assist in tracking the status of the order? 1300 online sales support team has a wait of over 30 mins and its been over 48 hours since the order and no email or updates yet.

  • Does anyone know if you can take this offer up with pre order Samsung G8 tonight?

    • No idea, but if it does people are going to be desperate for links!

      • A condition of the deal is that you must activate the new service by 30 April 2017, and I think the S8 release date is 28 April, so would be cutting it a bit fine. Do they let you pick up pre-orders in store on the release date?

        • When I pre-ordered my Galaxy S6 I think I got it on launch day so it must have been sent out a day early.

      • OK I just checked with my link and it is on there - says:
"Pre-order the Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ using your Family & Friends discount!
        Only available via web chat"

        • Anyone knows what time live chat starts working?

        • @hweita: I'm going through the process right now. It's slow but you can definitely do it.

        • @mitchjc91:

          Thanks

Chrome wasn't working for me… only see this blank page saying "Looking"

Edge browser worked first go… trying to get through now

    • According to the website, it says you can pre-order via Live Chat. Give it a try.

    • I'm in a live chat right now. 25% F&F discount can be applied. But only to the plan cost, not the phone repayments

    • I was just on Optus Live Chat, and they definitely will do the 25% off, but only via Live Chat. Cheapest plan on Optus for S8+ is $65.25 (from $87). This includes unlimited music stream and movie streams to their partners. Cheapest pre-order i've found so far, with Woolworths coming second at $69 dollars.

      • Nice, how long did it take to connect to a rep?

        • About 5 minutes. If you have the volume up, there would be a notification sound when the live chat person comes in.

Edit: The live chat representative I talked to was Joey.

        • @Aced21:

          Cheers

They gave you the full 25% off even on the handset fees? Thought the discount only applied to the plan fees (i.e. the $40 portion)

        • @hweita: Apparently so, I thought it was weird, but I only went onto Live Chat to check the offers available. I didn't pick one up because I'm waiting on the Note 8. I would've gotten it straight up with that price the representative offered if I was indeed pre-ordering the S8+.

  • How much was the 15gb plan for s8+?

    • +2

should be $88 ($75 Plan + $13 handset) which is very tempting

  • So it took roughly 45 minutes through chat to successfully get the S8 with the discount.

    • which plan did you choose?

  • I went with the regular S8 on the $130 plan. I tether at work a lot so that's about the amount of data I currently use on a monthly basis.

  • Right now woolworths is having this deal.

https://mobile.woolworths.com.au/shop/devices/smartphone/sam… 15 off their current plans so the 4GB plan is at $65 so basically $840 for the phone and $720 for the $30 4GB plan for 24 months.

so with the optus discount the 3.5GB plan is $66.75 per month including GST and the 8GB plan is $70.5 per month including GST. difference in price is whther you prefer the service and extras of the optus plan and network, compared with woolies and the telstra 4g network.

I was just about to buy a new s7 edge for 600 with a gear fit 2 from gumtree and just get the $20 2GB 12 month plan but this is so tempting.

  • Can confirm that I was able to sign up to the S8 on $130 plan for $97.5 with this discount which means they discounted it from the total plan price :) Extremely happy to receive a brand new phone and 30gb data for $97.50 per month!

    • +1

      Nice

    • can you clarify, when organising the deal, does the contract itself mention the total cost AFTER discounts applied? the chat rep. gave me an initial link to read, however the link only mentioned the standard 85plan with a minimum cost of 2040 excluding any handset cost. Where as with the above 25% off it should have been obviously less.

    • If you dont mind sharing, how did you confirm the discount has been applied? Is it stated anywhere in the contract etc? I cant see mine anywhere…

      • Same thing happened to me but he did say the discount had been applied, I just saved a copy of the conversation just in case.

      • Yes in my case I saved our conversation just in case. Also if you saved the receipt number from the conversation you can call Optus and quote that number to confirm the details of your deal.

        • I just went through chat again to confirm that the discount has been applied as I also had nothing about it in my contract. The rep confirmed the discount was there and would be applied from the second bill onward.

  • Crap… All links seem to be exhausted.

    • No, they are all working.

  • Okay guys,

In a bit of a situation here

After numerous contact with customer service, I had confirmation that my current service can have this discount applied (currently on the $120 plan, rate change to $160 and aplly discount)

I was given a link to validate my email to activate the service, which doesn't work.

Been back on the phone to customer service and I've been told my 'friend' requires to call optus department on this discount (apparently a back of house department you guys have the number for) to activate my service with this

My question is, who wants to make a quick buck?

Tldr; help me get my service validated for this offer and you'll be compensated

  • Optus reps: Theoretically if the S8 plan comes out and lowers the price of the S7 plan, could I get my S7 plan I signed up for lowered too? I have not activated my SIM yet (the porting wasn't working as Optus informed me) but I have the phone.

    • Oh shit I just had a look and the same plan is now worse. Half the data now… glad I signed up when I did.

      • Which plan did you sign up on? I am assuming the 65.00 cause that plan had the double data deal which ended last week. So, yes, im glad you did sign up before the double data deal ended.

        • yeah that's the one. And actually I've taken a hit to my data because I used to be on 11gb on Virgin. Oh well I'm loving the new phone.

  • Looks like they've just added the red iPhone to the list.

  • I just signed up on the $100 - 15gb plan with a s8+ (discounted to $88).

I didn't see it listed on any of the pages I looked at (the f&f page or the s8 plan page) but I may be wrong.

But on other things, they offered the insurance thing for $14 per month covering accidental everything. Has anyone had any experience?

After reading this forum discussion (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/299036) it may be worth getting?

    • The S8 is on the F&F page when you click on Phone with Plan.

      Phone with plan

Pre-order the Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ using your Family & Friends discount!
Only available via web chat. CHAT NOW

      • my bad, what I meant was the $100 plan. I saw $130 etc.

But I see that Ronnie and KCT1010 (above) were offered the same one.

  • +1

Thanks all, I just signed up for a S8 on the 8gb plan - $72.75. Can confirm that you can cancel the contract at any time and just have to pay the remaining handset fees out (~$49/month * months remaining). I'm porting from telstra to Optus so I hope the coverage goes alright down here in Tas…

Will miss my awesome Windows Phone but I need the apps!

    • Not sure if that's correct. My handset repayments are $5 per month. No way they would let me off paying much if I quit first month in!

  • +1

Thanks guys! I pre-ordered a GS8+ on the 8GB Plan - $83.75 per month. Took about 20 minutes to sort everything out via chat.

  • Any update on the optus porting issue today?

  • Soooo stoked!!! Old plan was up today!!! This deal came in AND the galaxy S8+ plan was released. Talk about a tiny window of opportunity!

  • +2

Unreal been a customer for atleast 10 years and had the Note 7 so now on sim only plan whilst waiting for a decent replacement phone and they wont let me move over to this deal…..
Awesome nothing like valuing long term customers.

    • I'm in exactly the same situation as you and it's very, very frustrating.
Would love to sign up to an S8 plan using the discount to replace my returned Note 7 but they specifically disadvantage their existing customers. I believe you can do it if you let them give you a "new service" (which means you get a new mobile number and throw out your old number), but I don't get it, what difference does it make to them whether or I keep my mobile number or not? And yet, they refuse the discount if you want to keep your mobile number.

If I'd known they were actually going to allow S8 pre-orders with the discount I would have switched to prepaid or ported my number out a week ago, ready for today, but now that we have official information it's far too late.

      What a lame, let down.

  • Did this deal end earlier than expected?

    • When I looked last night the countdown looked like it was going to finish at 1 or 2AM on 1st (EST). However timer moved to 9PM tonight.

      • Ahh ok, owells , was thinking about a s8 but maybe next time :)

    • Finished at 5pm. I missed it too. Didn't take enough notice and expected midnight

      • At 12pm AEST/1pm AEDT, it said 10 hours left…

  • The only thing that concerns me is updates. Will the updates be severely delayed even more through Optus? As opposed to a generic S8 through Hardly Normal?

  • Just wondering if this is the norm, was on optus prepaid, ordered a new phone and new plan, nothing has left the warehouse yet (as per online tracking) but the new sim is active. The particular sim I was using for prepaid is in a phone which is at home, I’m assuming because it’s now active that it must mean I can use the existing sim. Can’t check for sure until I get home. Would have thought seeing as it’s a new plan and phone that I should have at least the phone in my hands before it’s activated. Will see how long it takes for me to get the new phone as I’m thinking of selling it anyway.

  • hey, OP

I got a problem. After I applied online, they confirmed it today and told me that 30$ plan is going to cost me 360$ in future instead of 270$ for 25% discount. Now I don't wanna this contract. How can I do about it?
    thanks

    • Lodge a complain, then if that doesn't work, complain to the TIO…

      • thanks for your reply.

    • Did you get an email when you originally applied?

      • The first email says a discount price will show on second bill. but second email shows I am on a full price plan. a bit confuse now. Just waiting for future bill…

  • Does anyone know how to get the one off $5 data share sim stated under the FAQ?
Is there a cost to set up a mobile broadband device to share data with a new My Plan Plus mobile plan?
Yes there is a one-off set up fee of $5 per mobile broadband device, with no ongoing cost. The set-up fee will also be charged if you have an existing Optus mobile broadband plan and want to change to the Shared Data Plan.
    https://offer.optus.com.au/optus25/error/ Under FAQ

  • Does the discount applied on second bill also include the discount on the initial bill?

    • hey, I got same problem. did you receive two email? one tells full price of the plan. another email tells discount prices will show on second bill.

      • +1

Yeah, the only place that the discount is noted for me is in the temporary order email.

I did call them when I received second email which had the contract details attached (no ref to the discount) but they said it'll be fine and will be applied on the second bill.

Guess just have to wait and see. I'm sure it's all good and im just being paranoid due to years of optus disappointment.

        • thanks for your reply. I got same answer from optus lately. hope we can get a smooth transaction.

  • +1

Not happy Optus. My 2nd bill has come through for the S7 at $65, Should be $48.75… I knew this would happen, typical Optus stuff up!

    • Damn. My fear coming true.

Let us know what they say after contacting them.

      • My Order went through fine as an existing out of contract customer at the $48.75 with confirmation email.
Now they are saying I don't qualify.
Well I'm not paying the $65 per month so I'm not sure where I stand…. any Optus reps care to help?

        • WTF, it's a robber. if you are not qualified, should be notice first. what you gonna to do? I got same worries, waiting my bills.

        • What ended up happening? Did you get the discount in the end?

        • @rmk: I was an existing customer but my order went through the Optus system.
I ended up making a claim with the TIO and won!
          https://www.tioonline.com.au/consumers/new/
          Cheers

    • My 1 bill has everything combined and the discount is fine and applied

      first items:

8.71 paid for the previous bill; the rest make up the $29.99CR per month (the amount paid in advance on my previous $30 plan)

24.78 total (27.26 with GST - pro-rata'ed for current usage)

      $40.91 - 04 Apr to 03 May Samsg GS7 BL (23 remain)
      $40.91CR - Less Handset Credit

less 25% access discount 14.77 (16.25 with GST) discount line over here

did a month-to-month $50 sim to preserve my data sharing sims - charged about 40.32 for this, should've cancelled this sooner.

      • I was wondering if you can shed some light here, in the 2nd email received for the order subject titled "yourname, here's all you need to know", the link to download your Contract and Critical Information Summary, is discount listed in the Customer Authority Form?

  • My bill 2nd came in with $48.75 though they are now denying the $20 bundle bonus after I confirmed on the phone twice that it would be credited.

    • Did your original email confirmation have the discount on it?

  • my S8 arrived today, thanks OP - what a deal

  • 1st bill $65
    2nd bill $48.75

I was under the impression that the 2nd bill will also include the discount for the 1st.

Otherwise.. how is the minimum cost over 24 months be $1170 as advertised?

  • Month 2 began today, I was supposed to get extra data from today but it's still 3.5GB. Does it come through immediately?

    • Mines still not displaying either. Reps from the online chat and on the phone basically told me to assume that I have the 2gb bonus data use and that they'll waiver any additional fees as a result.

      • Just got an SMS saying the data has just been added! I hadn't even used half of the 3.5gb yet though.

  • Anyone that was on Optus prepaid then went over to postpaid to take up this offer, have you received your second bill yet and did you receive the discount?

  • I was waiting for my second Bill to arrive to verify the discount but it doesn't look right. I've got the standard S7 on $65 plan.So they have charged me $70 on the first bill and charging $55 on my next bill. There's extra $5 charge for the handset and if I'm not mistaken it was supposed to be free.Could someone here confirm please?
I'm very tempted to take it up to TIO could anyone please share some screenshot of the offer they had on the page??.Offer has been taken down from their site now.

    • You might have had the same problem that happened to me. I signed up when the handset was $0 but by the time they processed the order a few days later the repayments had gone up to $5 which is what they processed my plan at. I rang them up and they fixed it. The handset repayment for s7 went up to $5 on 20/3 so if you signed up before that and you have your temporary email order dated before then but they processed your order after the 20th maybe that's what happened?

      • Thanks for the response. My order was placed on 14/3 and email received on 16/03. I have tried their support through chat support and unfortunately all they did was tapped me on the head with the contract papers and clearly said that they are not going to honor it for me. I should Say what I heard from them.. Sorry you should have checked your paper work and its too late now. Thanks to them its cleared up :-)

        • On 14/3 it was definitely $0 handset repayments for the s7 on $65 plan. Does your temporary order email say $0 repayments?? If so they have to honour what that says when you ordered!
Did they end up fixing it for you?

        • @cinnamon85:
They did not and I am looking for any evidence to lodge complain formally to TIO . I ordered it on 14/03/17 and then I have an email from Optus on 16/03/17 "Information about your order" basically asking ID verification and then about the Plan on 22nd.In the order info it says "$65 My Plan Plus(TI Nov 16 GS7)" and Your device section it says "Samsg GS7 BL" no any specific handset charges there too.given this is just an individual incident I am not too sure but will see

        • @Er1282:
If you got your plan email on 22nd it sounds like they processed it after the price went up on the 20th so thats probably why it went through at $5 which is what happened to me. If you ordered on the 14th you should have received a temporary order email when you ordered and that is the email where it says handset repayments are $0. Do you have that one? It has a temporary order number.
If not they should be able to look up the date you ordered in the system and they have a record of when the price went up.

  • Edit

  • $160 100gb plan.. didnt know rhe 25% discount is from 2nd month only :(
lucky 93GB used for the first month and went through 5 other sims 4 gb each, just a casual 120gb a month

  • Too late to get this now? :(

  • Has anyone had issues with originally purchasing through the link and then not having the discount applied ?

    • Haven't received my second bill yet so not sure.

      • apparantly first bill is "advanced charges" so it's not technically your first bill. First bill came in last couple of days for me, and second bill will be next month and that is when your discount will be applied.

        • This is what I was told as well. You should actually see the discount come into effect on the third bill. I was assured the extra paid would be refunded at the end of the contract

        • @UseMyLink: yep, they should really make it more clear
