Im wondering when a redemption counts. Is it upon sign up or activation? I have signed up (ordered the sim) and received it since, just wanting to activate by the end of the month but was concerned that maybe that 10 redemptions will be gone (used up) by the time I try to activate. So I can be sure I get the 25%off, can anyone confirm please?

Take the Samsung S7 with 7GB data plan. Normally $65 a month. Total cost over 24 months is 1560
With this deal, that drops down to 1170. Sell the phone for at least 600, the bonus gearfit for $100, minus the $20 a month discount on your broadband, >and the sim ends up being just -40c month. That's right, optus will be paying you 40c a month to have the sim.That sounds interesting, but using your maths I'm getting a figure of $230 over 24 months ($1170 less $600 for selling the phone, less $100 for selling Gear Fit, less $240 for the $20/month discount) which ends up being $9.58/mth. Am I missing something?
The broadband would be a 24 month contract, not 12 months.
So this makes it 1170-600-100-480 = -$10 altogether = -$0.42/month
$20/month discount multiplied by 24 months is $480

The way I read it, the discount is on the broadband, not the mobile, so the two shouldn't conflict@outlander: Hidden in the T & Cs is that if your broadband was started prior to May 2016 you don't qualify. You have to recontract to a minimum $80 per month plan. So I have cancelled my mobile order.
You are not going to get $600 for the s7 which is about to be superceded but your point stands

Same here mate, if the discounts stacked I'd buy 10 of them no hesitations. Optus has another benefit to it, that they allow you to purchase data share sims for a one time fee of $5. So you can share the 7gb between multiple devices. Makes it even more attractive

Port out onto a cheap prepaid and then port back in - not sure it'll help you get these 10 redemptions as will probably take a few hours, but if you can find someone else who works for them, you might be able to get the same deal.

If you sign up and have the same bill it will automatically data-share. That happened with my accounts automatically (they were linked).
But that would not be classified as a new customer as the account exists so would not get a discount.Correct me if I've misunderstood. I have a Post paid that is about to expire and just signed up for the tablet plan for my mum and added to my account. So I cannot even port out as the tablet will hold my account open and I'll not be a new customer.
I would probably confirm with sales - however from what I understand its if you order a "New" service. Doesn't matter if its attached to an existing account but please confirm with sales.

Yeah same name is the issue, as I am an existing optus customer, plus her phone/plan at the moment is obviously in her name.
@djkelly69: Offer is for a new service, like a port in mobile or new number or prepaid to post paid, doesn't matter if you are already a customer already with a service but doesn't include re-contracting services. To share data all services will have to be transferred to the same account, under the same name, which you can do at any time just by contacting customer care :) Hope this helps.

Got it working, just contact the chat and confirm. Moved from $30 a month prepaid (28 days) to $30 a month postpaid, monthly. Also you get an extra $20 off your home phone/internet if it's with Optus.

Hm, I'd give it another go. All I said was that I am on Optus Prepaid and I want to keep my number and move to this plan.
To be honest, the plans are for everyone except Optus customers already on plans. You may not even need to contact Optus for support concerning having an existing prepaid number.
I'd just put my details in, say keep number, select with "Other carrier" (not Telstra) and go through with it. That's what I did, before I even contacted the Optus team. From there I said, I have signed up to these plans, I want to keep the numbers, don't send new sim cards. I still received a new sim card, but the old one works fine, just them wasting money on StarTrack.

Paying an extra $5/month for a 64GB memory chip is a rort. In China, the 128GB in Shenzen Market are less than $50. If you are on a SIM only plan, then Optus will lose out of you leave early.
So I imagine that there would be some part of the plan that you have to pay (or penalty) on top of the handset repayments.

But just a quick question - when I'm out the check out stage and filling out the 'keep my existing' number for them to port, the DOB of the account-holder is auto-filled with my DOB. However, my virgin mobile account is under my partner's name/thus his DOB as the account holder. Will this be an issue when Optus tries to port my number? (i.e. they wont be able to port my number because my DOB does not the virgin mobile's account holder DOB) Hmm do you guys think the best solution is for me to change my partner's virgin account details to my details? Let me know what you all suggest.

Just a quick question to the many optus employees here, my current plan runs out with vodafone on the 13th of april. I have chosen to port my number over.
I have gone through and purchase the $40 dollar plan for $30 through one of the links.
To avoid an early termination fee with vodafone, is it possible to just activate the sim I receive some time in mid-april and still receive the discount? The terms and conditions seem a little unclear.Also interested in the response for Bettercallphil's question.
I'm not an Optus team member, but in my experience the answer is no. They activate/port the SIM themselves in a couple of days if you don't manually do it as soon as you receive it. Sorry buddy, you'll get early termination fee applied from Vodafone.
From Optus' website: "Most postpaid Mobile, Tablet, Home Wireless Broadband and Mobile Broadband SIMs are automatically activated within 24 hours of delivery."

previously i requested via live chat and was told porting could be delayed up to a month - it ended up being 3wks between signup and activation
I just had a chat with Optus as I'm in a similar situation. The rep said that sims are automatically activated and ported within 24 hours of delivery. Therefore you can't purchase the sim now and choose when to activate it. Rep said that the only way around it is to delay the delivery date (apparently you can choose when to have it delivered in the checkout process). However you can only have delivery delayed by one month.
I'm not sure if that's the correct info though as the terms and conditions state:
"Family and friends who sign up by 31 March 2017, must activate their new service by 30 April 2017."
This implies that you can choose when to activate the service.Hopefully another rep here can clear this up.

I have the S7 Edge, and find it just a little bit big for my hands. The curve screen also makes it a little prone to just randomly press the curve navigation.
Having said that, I absolutely loved my S7 until I lightly dropped it and cracked my front screen :( So remember to buy protection on day dot!!!
Oh, and I'm not moving to the S7 to see, since it's so cheap anyways :(

My current contract is up 16 april,
If I sign up for the sim only plan will they immediately try and port over my number and start the contract or will I have until my current plan runs out?
I don't want to pay 2 months of the current plan if Optus immediately starts the purchased sim plan.they won't port your number over, only for new service numbers!

My Optus 2 year plan expires 10 April. Hence my bill is generated on the 10th of every month. When should I port out to my $1 Kogan sim so I can qualify for this when I port in again? Not sure when I should call to cancel my existing optus plan as well.
that was my dilemna this morning as my contract will end of the 15th of April. What i did was call Optus and asked them to cancel my contract, which means service will only be available on my current number until the 15th of March. You can also ask them to waive the cancellation fee of $16.25. So total remaining balance will be your last month's bill plus you have to pay the remaining handset costs. Does this makes sense?

just ask them nicely. Just point out their no cancellation fee policy on the website and you should be cleared from the cancellation fee =)

Can I ask why do people buy phone plans when it would be cheaper to buy the phone outright and then a sim only plan?
CONVENIENCE! Because LOADS of every day Aussies don't have $500 -$1000 upfront to pay in a lump for a hand set.
If you don't have $500-$1000 to buy a phone then you shouldn't. Buy a $250-$500 phone instead.
Phones used to be discounted in combo plans but these days you're paying $100's more for the 'convenience'.
I guess it depends, but I've bought S7 using link from here, so in my case: $1170 - $480 - $150 = $540.
For around $540 I get new S7 with 7GB plan, I don't think you can buy it cheaper anywhere else.$480 - $20 x 24 broadband bundle discount
$150 - selling Fit2 on eBay (could be less)plus whatever you get for selling your old phone on eBay :)
In my family old phone is passed to my wife! :D
Some companies also give employees a phone allowance or a subsidised phone plan.
It also makes it a bit easier to claim on tax during tax time i've found.

Shouldn't be. It's not like the discount is in the form of a coupon which applies to a plan available to recontracting customers. The link already has the discounted price factored in it and says is available to reconstructing clients.

When I 'recontracted' to a discounted 12month sim only plan - this was last year ,
the solution the rep worked out for me was to put me over to prepaid on their end, meaning, final bill, credits etc.
and then resigned up to the 12mo sim only (had to pay again for data sims)
I put in a temp order this morning via link, but I still need to talk to a customer rep, whether live chat or on the phone about finalising the billing/putting me to prepaid.

I have rung through a couple of times and have been willing to pay the extra $10 per month and go to 24 months contract in order to get it, but I have been told that you have to have a device as well.

They've already catered for 10 submissions per employee, as to where it came from, I don't think it would have mattered. :)When I spoke to the telephone customer service they said that my credit rating was good enough for me to have a second plan on the same deal - so they can't be too worried about it.

You wouldn't know until you received your first bill. And someone should've called you beforehand to verify your order which I've had a few minutes ago.
I ordered last evening and haven't had any call or email (except for an email acknowledging my order and a temporary order number). When did you place your order?
ordered last night as well, two actually, an IP7Plus and a Huawei Mate 9. Received a call this afternoon confirming my details and delivery address and I have asked them as well if I can delay the activation and they said yes for 10 days only. I'm not sure where did they get that info but I'll chat them again once I received my goods! BTW temporary order number and email acknowledgement was received as soon as i place my order last night. Now waiting for credit management for preapproval and final confirmation.
Interesting, my status shows that order has been sent to warehouse, but I didn't receive any calls? Maybe because I'm already with Optus broadband?
I wouldn't stress too much about final price, on the first email from Optus it clearly shows 25% discount, so if not applied we can always call and fix it. BTW, I don't think first bill will include said discount, on the email it clearly states "25% OFF DISCOUNT WILL APPEAR ON 2ND BILL".

Anyway be careful with optus and be sure to check your direct debit amount because I have to called them 5 times to fixed my last 4 bills since switching from cable to NBN. It is the same company we are dealing with even though it is a different products in this case ( mobile phone plan vs home phone internet bundle)

I've spoken to an internal team on the error you're experiencing - 'this number is not eligible for this offer'.
You may be experiencing this error if you've recently ported your number away from Optus as it hasn't yet been recognised in Optus' system to update to identify that you're no longer an Optus customer.
Best advice I can give you is wait a couple of days to take up the offer with your mobile number, port the number back to Optus and get you 25% off discount. 25% off is too good to miss out on.

I'd recommend taking up a new number, then once your order arrives, switch to your current number. That way you won't miss out on the offer.
As you shifted away from Optus today, the system may take a day to refresh so it's probably identifying you as an existing Optus postpaid customer which would mean you wouldn't be eligible for the deal.

thanks,@irony: This Optus offer ends on the 31st of March so if you have plenty of time to take up the offer once you've given Telstra 7 days notice that you're going to port your number to Optus. 7 Days sounds ludicrous - it should be 48 hours to port a number max. You'll need to be out of your Telstra contract in order to take up a new contract with Optus with the same number.
My advice if you're currently out of contract with Telstra - port your number to Optus and take up the offer before the discount codes run out. 25% off is too good to miss out on.

standard practice is for the new provider (optus) to manage the porting process - you yourself don't generally let the old one know you're leaving them

I've spoken to an internal team on the error you're experiencing - 'this number is not eligible for this offer'.
You're seeing this error as you've only just ported your number away from Optus and it takes 24-48 hrs for the system to update to identify that you're no longer an Optus customer. I've also received confirmation that you're unable to port your number to Optus after taking up the offer so it's best to wait and do it up front.
Best advice I can give you is wait until tomorrow morning to take up the offer with your mobile number, port the number back to Optus and get you 25% off discount. 25% off is too good to miss out on.

You need to clarify that with Optus as I have been given mixed messages regarding activation. Some say the longest period you can delay it is 10 days but others say that as long as you haven't put in the sim, it wouldn't activate and some say that it will come automatically activated when it arrives on your doorstep. Very confusing and would like the hundreds of Optus employees here to clarify this question. Thanks!

I haven't got anywhere on chat either, first I was told I could get the offer through the link and then when I had trouble with it I was told they would sort it out but I was then sent an email to say I couldn't.

Sorry for the delay - yes I still have not had an email with an official order number or contract, but the new order number the call centre gave me when I called has allowed me to track the fact that my phone has already shipped and hopefully will be delivered tomorrow…I think they are just slammed and perhaps the emails aren't going out like they should…

Here's my experience so far…Got an iphone 7.
Signed up on 1-March in the morning. Got an email with the temporary order in the afternoon.
Didn't get any subsequent emails (was expecting a confirmed order #). On 2-March got an sms in the evening - welcome to optus sport.
Then 3-March morning started getting sms - voicemail setup, service ready to go. Didn't receive any sms/emails about the phone delivery.
I am with coles mobile (optus reseller), and the current sim was ported over directly to optus. Very bizarre. Bit annoyed by this, as I had a couple of weeks to go on my prepaid plan.
Spoke with sales team. They confirmed phone should be delivered next week.
they should've not done that as they need a confirmation first before they ported your number to Optus! I was told via chat that porting is the only way I can delay the activation of my service but it doesn't look like so based from your experience. I'm getting anxious and annoyed now!
Agree they shouldn't have done that.
If you are with a non Optus reseller, you may have a different experience. If you don't have a confirmed order #, then you call up them up and get it based on your temporary order #. Then use the confirmed order # to track the status on https://www.optus.com.au/shop/welcome

something is not right with your story, sorry but you said you started receiving sms from Optus? from which sim card are you referring? from your coles mobile?
Normally, when you port in to a new provider, you need to use their sim cards and then start the porting from your old provider.Yes exactly !!
But I am with coles mobile which uses the optus network. I had my coles mobile sim in the phone and started getting these sms. Of course when signing up online, I did specify my current number as contact point. So getting sms updates wasn't a surprise.

Your new phone is now ready and you can plug your old SIM into your new phonewhat??? so you will still be using your coles mobile sim on your new phone? that's really weird eventhough coles mobile is a reseller of Optus, they should've provided you with a new sim card.
Let's see what happens when the iphone arrives. If there's a new sim, I might switch to that. I don't really care which sim it is, as long it's working.

Can anyone from optus please confirm when the 3.5GB bonus data offer for the galaxy s7 on $65 plan ends? The website says 5th march but when i was in an optus store today they promised that it had been extended to 26th march. Your website still says the 5th though. Can anyone please confirm?

The bonus data offer ends on the 5 March for the 25% off offer as stated on the plan details page of the offer link. The 25% off offer is an online employee Family & friends exclusive offer only so T&Cs will differ from in store offers.

I had a text message asking to call Optus. I sat on hold for 50 minutes on 02/03/2017 to be told that there was something wrong with the account system and that he would call me back later that night.
Didn't get a call and I'm now sitting back on hold for 30 minutes… Also the optus account website seems to be down.
From my experiences with Optus call centre, when they said they will call back, i have never receive a call after that.
I suspect they are swamped with the flood of orders. If it's not sorted by Monday morning, PM me your email address or phone number I'll send it on to a specialist team.
Hi, has anyone received confirmation order and check your Contract and Critical Information Summary? I checked my one, it doesn't include any 25%off. I am signing up Iphone 7 plus 128 GB with $85 plan using one of the link, my contract stated that min. total cost is $2592 over 24 months. And it doesn't mentioned any 25% discount, which should be $2082 over 24 months.
I suspect the contract is the standard one for that plan. The discount is applied on the second bill (on wards) so it will come as a separate item. If it's not sorted by your second bill, PM me your email address or phone number I'll send it on to a specialist team.

Only when you receive the SIM and / or activate it online (sometimes the receipt of the SIM will auto activate it). Won't be active before you get it.

My wife had a same issue. She was on Optus prepaid. I managed to sign up for $40 plan on Thursday morning. This morning (Friday), without any warning, her service was disconnected (on the phone it said SOS instead of Optus). We received an email about order being sent but no other information. She rang Optus and they told her she had already been transferred to Postpaid and they are sending out new SIM. Luckily after phone reboot service came back on the Postpaid (doesn't look like new SIM is needed).

Can an Optus employee confirm the $40 (down to $30 with 25% off) SIM only plan is 12gb total? The website used to state 12gb (10gb + 2gb) but now it shows 8gb ("+4gb for 12 months when you buy online), yet the CIS says 10gb. Very confusing. I thought it was 12gb and was super keen to sign up. 8gb isn't really worth it.
Also, if I sign up, how quick is optus to port my number from previous carrier? I assume they wait for me to have a SIM delivered before the port takes place. I only ask as I have about 4 days on my current billing cycle and it'll be easier to just port at the start of the next one.
The plan is 8GB with a 4GB online only bonus. The CIS should show 8GB. But you will get the extra 4GB added on as you are doing this online. Ports can take up to 4 hours. But most are much quicker. Depends on how many are going through at that time.
Would you be able to confirm if there will more links will be available next week as well? it will take me at least a few days to port out of optus and then come back to get this.

Currently have a 2.5 year old Samsung S5, tempted to get the S7 at the $65+25% disc for $48.75 with the Gear Fit. Does the 3.5Gb + 3.5Gb totaling 7gb last for the life of the plan? Or does the bonus 3.5Gb data have an expiry? Currently paying about ~$15 a week pre-paid for 1gb a month and $10 credit. Honestly don't really need more than that and my S5 runs well enough not to be replaced - albeit it has slower down a bit. Honestly haven't seen a great deal like this in a while, and it is very hard to find a sub-$50 contract with 7GB data a month plus unlimited calls/text - including a brand new $700+ phone. Really considering it, currently in my last year of uni then next year hoping to go out and work full-time, so don't really need all that credit and data until next year, although it's such a good deal may have to pull the trigger. Won't be seeing a deal like this around for sometime I'm sure. Anyone's thoughts? How often does a good deal like this pop up?
The terminology is confusing. Does "recontracting" mean staying on the plan after the contract is up? Will the discount stay after 12 months?

Optus customer service said that she fixed my plan to 12Gb and I would be able to see 12Gb after midnight. Logged back on after midnight and I saw still 8Gb. Anyone has the same problem?

I need some advice on porting away from Optus post paid and back again. I'm out of contract in 2 months (Optus online chat have said I will need to pay $35 for handset plus $19.95 fee to break contract).
How do I port away and back again quickly and cheaply? i.e what provider and contract would I ask for? Do you ask for a prepaid sim? and would a bricks and mortar store be quicker than an online one?

Sorry mate. Dont think you will be able to get away with cancellation fees especially when you want to port out.
If you recontract then they may be able to waive of break fees.Go buy a $2 Vodafone sim from the supermarket. Go online and register the sim and put in your current mobile number and the account number on your bill. They don't do any porting on Sundays. It usually goes through in less than 4 hours. At the most 24 hours. I'd give it at least 1 day to settle before you port out again. I ported out straight away again one time and it stuffed up

If you talk to someone on the chat, they should be able to waive any remaining fees and put you on any sim only plan. And then you'd be able to port out and come back again to get this offerThanks Koplik,
I did just that and went and brought a $2 Vodafone sim.
@bghunter I did speak to them on the chat and they said the only way I could keep my number was to port out to another provider. They wouldnt waive the fee unless i signed up to another (full price) contract
Point out to them the clause on their website about the "no cancellation fees" and you just have to pay the handset costs. That's what i did and they waived it.

@rottwell: nope,,you cannot delay the activation. Your billing will start as soon as you received your phone. I have tried asking them to delay it but said they couldnt.

I signed up to this offer and received a temporary order number. Then another email with a proper order number, contract information and delivery details etc. The contract and critical information summary attached doesn't mention anything about 25% off. It only mentions $65 plan and the bonus data but no mention anywhere of 25% off. Has anyone else had this happen? Now I am worried they have put me on a contract and not applied the 25% off.

I've got my 4g tablet with Amaysim at present on a payg plan with 1GB data. I asked at an Optus shop today about a data plan and was told I would need to junk my number. Except I have a premium number with Amaysim. So is my only option with Optus is to sign up for the $30 sim only phone plan in order to keep my number?

Yes, all you need is an account number from amaysim (postpaid) or DOB (prepaid) and the number. You can port your number from amaysim, that optus rep is a idiot. They also need a same carrier port CID (which is Optus's job to get) but I did mine in-store. The rep told me about the process, I don't know how online works for porting. But at the end of the day its a yes.

I would highly suggest that people don't use this, as this is some sort of scam. If you closely inspect this website compared to the real Optus website you can easily tell that this is a replica of it and the flaws can be identified if you look closely at certain parts of the website.
1) The URL is very suspicious (offer.optus.com.au) they had to put the word 'offer' before the Optus, because they couldn't for example use (optus.com.au/offer) because the domain name optus.com.au is already taken. So therefore (offer.optus.com.au) is a whole different domain name.
2) When you select a plan and click 'Buy Now' it immediately takes you to a page where it asks for your information such as Passport, Drivers License, Occupation, Address etc. While on the real Optus website after you select a plan and click 'Buy Now' it adds it to your cart and takes you to a page where it summarizes the plan you have selected, and on the top left corner a green Lock is displayed to show that it there is a secure connection during the payment.
3) The yellow icons such as 'Buy Now' , 'Next' , 'Select' are much larger on this fake website than the icons on the real Optus website if you compare it.
4) On the page where it lists the plans below that there is FAQs and Terms and Conditions. First of all, the Real Optus website don't have that. Secondly If you click on 'Terms and Conditions' and scroll all the way at the bottom it says "We do not offer Priority Assistance. A provider who does is Telstra." would Optus really write that?
5) At the bottom of the page the black footer is, it's not identical to Optus's one. The bit above the black footer where it says "Say yes to" and there are 4 things there (Safe and Secure, My plan plus, Your Optus Network, Device Warranties) when you click on any of them they don't work.
5) On the page where it asks for you personal information such as address, Job etc. at the bottom of that page where it says "Yes I've read your privacy policy" when you click on the 'privacy policy link' the link doesn't work.
6) The IP address and the location where the website is being hosted are in complete different locations.If all of these points don't persuade you that this is a scam, then proceed right ahead and find out for yourself.

I wonder what's your problem with this deal mate. Does that mean all the associated "employees of Optus" here on this thread are members of the scammers organisation? If this is a scam as well, why are the optus chat reps from the official Optus webpage can tell us what's going on with our orders? And how come, some of the folks here who have taken up this deal already got their mobile phones or have successfully are using their sim only plans? Next time mate, if you have an issue or grudge against Optus, take it somewhere else :) Don't try ruining a great bargain here.

This is incorrect. Have a read of the domain name system on Wikipedia, specifically subdomains. Using OzBargain as an example, there is OzBargain and the blog located at http://blog.ozbargain.com.au/. Both are under the ozbargain.com.au domain and points to a folder in OzBargain. Or Telstra, there is https://www.telstra.com.au/ and http://servicestatus.telstra.com/ and http://business.telstra.com.au/ and loads more. So offer.optus.com.au is located within the Optus domain and is a site managed and owned by Optus.
2nd, the majority of associated reps posting their links on this thread are coming from the Optus corporate IP addresses.
Can one of the REP or the gurus's of OZB can confirm if my process on getting this deal seems right?
I am currently on a Optus SIM only plan with another 2 months on my contract. I will have to pay a bit of cancellation fee. ( I hope once I get the new plan optus will honour and waive the fee.)- On Monday morning, I will attempt to port out my optus sim to Kogan (vodafone) network.( I have an existing unused 1$ sim card from Kogan.)
- I will have to provide my optus mobile number and account number instead of DOB as my existing plan is a post paid service.
- As per Kogan, a post paid sim port should take about 3 hours if all goes well.
- Hopefully after 4 or so hours my number will be ported out to Kogan (vodafone) network and my optus sim will show SOS.
- I will grab one of the links provided by optus employee's in here and sign up for a new SIM only plan.
- Will wait for Optus to send me the sim card. Activate the SIM card. Ditch the Kogan 1$ sim.
I am currently getting a 20$ off from my NBN broadband as per the bundle deal. I am guessing I will not loose the 20$ off as the sim only plans offered in here also qualifies for the 20$ off bundle deal?

This would work to get the new plan, but I highly doubt you'll get any cancellation fees waived by doing it this way.
Call them first and ask nicely to cancel or to give you credit to cancel out your cancellation fee. Don't port out without calling them first or they wouldnt waive your cancellation fee.

I ported out to Vodafone midday Saturday. I went to the Optus shop and spoke to the webchat and both said if I want to keep my number I need to Port out and in, so hopefully they didn't give the wrong info.

I have got the answers :)If you have just ported out from Optus to another carrier and are porting back in to Optus using this offer, please allow atleast 3-4 days for system to update. Eventually if you keep trying, you will get through it. Its just matter of time.
