  • Is this the international version in English

    • -1

      Yes, it is

      • No it is Chinese versions

    For something named travelling data recorder, I'm kinda expecting some location logging with the video.

    • +1

      My thoughts exactly, how does it obtain location and therefore log estimated speed?

        It's also called "Smart car dash camera". Here is a user's review : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4GQ6JYY5DE
        (his accent is strange, though :)

      • It grabs the GPS data from the phone, if you bother to attach it every time you get in the car.

        • +1

          Aha, I figured that might be the case. Cheers for confirming.

  • Anyone know the actual resolution not the 'high precision software interpolation' number?

    • 1920x1080
      like most other cameras on the market LOL

      • The resolution is a little higher than that at 30fps:
        1920x1080P 60fps, 1920x1080P 30fps, 2304 x 1296P 30fps
        I paid AUD81 when the international version came out mid last year. So this is a good price.
        No complains with the unit, but the ADAS feature is more suited to right hand traffic like in the USA.

  • It say $69.35 for me… anyone suggest something else I should be looking at for this price?

    • Pay in USD if your CC pay a better exchange rate.

  • What is its normal price?

    How's the survivability of the battery?

    • Battery: 240mAh Li-Polymer - about 20-30 minutes battery life

      • I mean in terms of heat.

  • my dash cam just died after a road trip. would this fare better? it was the capacitor one.

    • Any ideas why?

      • 40 degree heat, perhaps?

        • Apparently capacitors are meant to be more resistant to heat than li-on batteries

  • A rather pointless device since it doesn't have an inbuilt GPS: http://www.trustedreviews.com/xiaomi-yi-car-wifi-dvr-review

    You'd need to pair it with a phone in which case you might as well use a mobile app.

    • Its got built in wifi, just need to connect and set up the key once but I am not even aware this has GPS logging (its a DVR after all). But unlike a phone you can just set it up in the car and just let it run. If you dont use ADAS you wont even notice it if you place it just behind the rear view mirror. I have one of this and the pros of this unit for me are:
      * low lighting images/video better than most without IR leds
      * 64GB card support
      * set up once and forget (until you need to retrieve the images)
      * mpeg4 encoding (H.264 compression)
      * wider angle (165°) than most car DVR

      • So it will rewrite after full yea?
