How Is Your Life without Torrents?

The question says it all. Now that most of the major torrents sites taken down and almost nothing appearing in search results of search engines, how is your life without torrents? Google, Yahoo and Bing will further reduce it to zero. Check link below.

Search engines & copyright holders ready voluntary anti-piracy code

UPDATE: Thank you everyone for the alternate solutions. Though I did use other ways to get the torrents I want, it is worth knowing the alternatives used by OBZ community. Hope this will help others too. Where there's a will, there's a way.

I've got a kodi player from ali express and I can stream pretty much anything on that, no need to download anything.

    • What add on do you use just downloaded it on my android tablet

  • +1

I would never condone finding a free VPN and getting full access to TPB.

Alternatively, you should definitely not use any of those lesser known sites that can be found with a quick Google.

  • +2

    cough usenet cough

  • +3

I found this post quite "educational"; haven't needed TPB since:

Since I have discovered KODI with EXODUS video add-on, I have not missed torrentz one bit! All movies and TV series are organised with thumbnails and synopsis like Netflix. New TV series episodes are available for streaming hours after US broadcast in 1080p. New movies are avaialble for streaming in excellent quality 1080p after a blu ray screener is released. If you have an Android TV, this is a no-brainer!

100 times more content then Netflix another good one try google Mobdro just be on the lookout if there are kids around might want to block a setting also similar to exodus google Showbox bit of adds now and then but if you no what your doing can be add free :)

      • I will try Modbro. Your statement is very hard to read/understand without any punctuation!

        • +1

Mobdro for foxtel channels just watch out for
Adult content has a setting in there to disable.
Showbox similar to exodus not as much content as exodus.
Both installed thru google just grab the apk

        • @stussy:

So if i install Mobdro i can watch foxtel channels for free?

Also can Mobdro be installed on pc? or only android phones?

        • @CBR250RR:

          Not sure about windows unfortunately.
But for Android pretty good coming from a Kodi user :)

Looks like you can on Windows never tried

Another vote for Kodi + Exodus. Rather than buy an android box, my friend uses an old android tablet with last cast app, and streams it to his TV or Xbox on dlna, or to a Chromecast. Many OB readers already have all the gear you need to stream everything on the big screen without downloading a single media file. No more torrents needed

      • Are these movies full HD and dolby/DTS/truehd/Atmos? Do they come with subtitles?

        • Generally stereo sound and yes you can add subtitles via an add-on

        • @shertiger: naahhh I suspected it. I like to enjoy movies in the best quality possible, that is why I still use torrents.

        • Depends on where the stream is coming from. Some streams provide full HD video with Dolby 5.1 sound. There are streams for 4K video also available. But you better have an awesome internet connection!

        • +3

@ranagade: There is no such thing as "awesome internet connection!" in Australia unfortunately.

        • @Colombian: You would buy the Blu-Ray then if you want the best quality… unless you download those 50GB actual Blu-Ray disc torrents.

        • +1

@jlogic: I actually download full blu-ray or remux torrents. I leave them downloading during the week to watch them over the weekend.

        • @Colombian: Damn… Those are big files.

    • any tutorial kind of link/thing for person like me who have not heard about kodi yet?

      • From initial look around it just feels like a software and add-on to it. Sounds simple enuf.. is there more to it?

      • +1

You can download the KODI app for any Android, iOS or Windows device. Google How To Install EXODUS KODI Video Add-On, depending on the version of KODI you have. If you want to watch it on a TV, then there are a lot of Chinese Android TV devices around. I have the Beelink Mini MXIII II, and it is awesome!

        • +1

Thanks for the reply.. I just finished installing them before seeing this though. It is amazing actually. & my pc is on my tv so I would not need chinese box. thx.

        • Do I need a vpn or some sort of tunnelling program like with some torrents?

        • @AlienC: People recommend using a VPN for anonymity, but I don't use one. VPN will slow your streaming speeds. Not sure if streaming movies is classified illegal in Australia right now.

  • +2

maybe use an isp that isn't apart of the big few..

the ol bay url still works perfectly fine here

What's the password, "jobsandgrowth" or "laborsfault"?

      • lol.

        jobsandgrowth of course.

      • +2

jobsandgrowth would be a good name for a porn site.

I'm getting withdrawal now what.cd is gone. Getting into one of the new music trackers will be a massive pain and even then hiring a seedbox to build an upload buffer for downloading will be a massive pain. I discovered so many great bands there and ended up buying the CDs for many of them I would not have otherwise.

    • whats your alternative to what.cd?
scc is down too, i got bad gateway error today, im glad that bibliotik and bitme are still alive.

      • EDIT - decided I'm better not posting this, PM if you want to know. No I don't have any invites to what.cd alternatives.

    • Be wary, a lot the sites I am a member of have posted warnings about various W.CD replacements.

  • +1

Theres still plenty torrent sites out there.

  • +9

Now that most of the major torrents sites taken down and almost nothing appearing in search results of search engines

    LMAO

  • -1

I like that people bother to use private trackers. Most of them are not very "private".. if it's easy for you to get access, it's just as easy for rights holders to.

That said, I would never condone IP piracy.

  • +2

Are you kidding me, with a name like cyberninja? Just google TPB proxies….

  • Lol even though I have a couple of private sites I haven't used it in years after grabbing a Mx8 plus anything I'm interested in I just stream it and if I like it normally go and buy it Kodi all the way

  • +1

I've had zero issues with accessing content. I find it hilarious that despite the fact that the State and industry keeps trying to defeat piracy, the pirates are still often offering a better service and better quality content than the right's holders.

I buy much of my digital content [I use steam, have a Spotify account, etc.] but some stuff is too difficult or way too expensive to access here so piracy is often the only option.

  • +1

I am addicted to battlefield. Ain't no body got time for dat. (I mean torrents lol)

  • +2

Wait what? I didn't even notice lol, my site is still going strong.

How Is Your Life without Torrents?

I'm with you on this. I no longer torrent anything whatsoever. Haven't done so in years and I absolutely wouldn't in the future. I'm sure you don't either. Best of luck with the case.

  • Try other foreign search engines like BAIDU from China or simply search in a different language…

    Read and bookmark as needed.
NB: Link does not contain pirated content or actual torrents.

  • +10

I watch half-decade old content on FTA in glorious overcompressed 576i and listen to FM radio.

  • +1

Don't even download anything anymore. I just stream :)

  • My torrents work fine… not a single site blocked and no work around used

  • Been too busy trying to play all the games I bought during those steam sales.. no time to torrent argh.

  • +8

I haven't been able to connect to Napster for ages.

  • All I know is D is down for a while now.

  • Yeah I think the ye ol treasure site was down for maybe 5 minutes. Nothing has changed, they will just keep updating the address then it will have to start the whole court case again. It wont go anywhere for a good while yet, well not until they get licensing and distribution of movies / TV shows sorted in Australia. cough John Wick 2 cough

  • Already had a vpn subscription, doesn't affect me at all

  • There's some great discussion and suggestions here… https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2591386

  • +1

Haha what? Did anyone even notice a difference in their ability to download? I certainly didn't…

  • Switched to Usenet over 6 years ago. Never looked back. Add Sonarr and Raddar for almost perfect automation

If I wanted a torrent there is and always will be plenty of proxy sites

  • None of the current major sites have gone anywhere. Not sure what the issue is?

    • Through the use of the supplied/default DNS servers for compliant ISP's (including TPG) a few sites have been blocked, including TPB.

  • Dude, even using Google's DNS lets you get around the site blocking. (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4)

  • private trackers man

  • i get torrents fine, and in my first search result. OP is off chops

  • If you are using generic search engine for torrent, then you are doing it all wrong.

I used to torrent, now i don't given all the IPTVs boxes around for a relatively cheap cost.

  • +1

    You wouldn't download a car!

    • +3

Nah. I have a 3D printer for that

  • My life is perfectly fine thanks. I just put 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 into my router. Pirate Bay works perfectly fine.

    • -2

how does this do anything? @least use openDNS!

      • Routes all internet traffic though Google DNS instead of my ISP. It's the ISP blocking torrents, not Google DNS (yet).

        • Where on my router should I add this and is this safe or legal

        • @AlienC:

Under the Internet connection settings or DHCP settings, depends on your router.

Changing your DNS address is perfectly safe and legal.

  • +1

Great since finding streaming sites like couchtuner and watchseries. Much quicker than downloading and easy to view on tv using chromecast.

Easy to find popular shows - more difficult to stream movies etc.

  • +3

For those that don't know, opera browser has a free VPN built in. Very straight forward to use, literally one toggle to switch on and then it works.

    • Many workarounds but this is probably the easiest way.

    • Is there a VPN in the android version too?

  • If you torrent, you need a VPN and you will pay US$6 a month. Why bother now, just get NETFLIX

    • If you're watching on a decent TV, NETFLIX is like rubbing sand in your eyes.

      • 4K compared to Foxtel's 720p, go figure.
Even Netflix 1080p is great, I Just wish the sound quality was better.
But still better than foxtels rubbish

    • But you don't need a VPN to use torrents. I'm not sure why you think it is a must. Netflix like all streaming services has a limited number of shows. Many aren't up to date due to Foxtel's broadcasting rights. Netflix doesn't suit everyone's needs

    • Unless things have changed since I last used netflix, the TV shows on there was not a comprehensive library of current tv shows - generally older shows, or if it was a current show it would not be up to date (eg TWD).

  • I'm running unbound DNS resolver on my pfsense vm, so query the root servers directly, didn't even know there were changes. Mwahaha!

  • Any suggestions for a free reliable VPN?

I understand it is extremely helpful to avoid issues.

Years ago, back in the day, I didnt need it.

    • There is no such thing. Just find a cheap one like Nord.

      • Thanks. Will look into it.

  • Let's say you have a torrent client. There's usually an internal search facility.
I don't know what servers they use, but there must surely be alternatives should some be blocked.

  • Strangely, thepiratebay, and all the other major torrent sites are still accessible to me. I am on the NBN with an Australian company (obviously) and no block has been put in place.

  • I don't even use public trackers, but even if you did want to use them, just putting their IP address in your hosts file will get around the block.

It's really not that complicated, the whole censorship thing doesn't work in reality, and it's just a way to line government departments with more money, while looking "tough".

    • Exactly, token concession by the providers.

  • I have been using the same torrent site for at least 10 years or more. Its always been available.
And the reason I use it, is because TV stations are so unreliable with putting TV shows at a respectable hour or keeping them at the same time.

They start a show at 7.30 then next week its on at 9.30, then they change the channel its on etc etc.

If I can stream them from Netflix or Stan I do that if not its Torrents for me…..

    cheers
