How Is Your Life without Torrents?

The question says it all. Now that most of the major torrents sites taken down and almost nothing appearing in search results of search engines, how is your life without torrents? Google, Yahoo and Bing will further reduce it to zero. Check link below.

Search engines & copyright holders ready voluntary anti-piracy code

UPDATE: Thank you everyone for the alternate solutions. Though I did use other ways to get the torrents I want, it is worth knowing the alternatives used by OBZ community. Hope this will help others too. Where there's a will, there's a way.

  • Idk, incomplete i guess. The bigger issue is Netflix's limited content.

    • Try their US catalogue, it's bigger than ours but even then i end up torrenting half the shows

I gave up torrenting/stealing years ago. It's been fine using Netflix and Google credit to rent movies through the Play store. You don't realise how much time you waste looking for stuff to torrent and most of the time just building a collection of stuff you most likely won't watch.

most of the time just building a collection of stuff you most likely won't watch

With 23.5TB of media on my server I would have to agree with you there. However due to my automation I actually spend very little time ever searching for stuff. However that doesn't change the fact I store far more than I'll ever watch. Up vote for making me feel guilty ;)

      • That's crazy!! The most I had was 2TB of movies and even then I'd never had enough time to go through them all.

      • +1

You can open your own movie rental.

Seriously, I wonder what happen if some Hollywood CEO caught you with all of those gigantic collection 0_0
I bet 33% are giggity giggity goo

    • Google credit? where from?

      • Google rewards app. You do surveys and get credits for the Play store. My wife does it too so we usually have enough to hire a new movie every now and again :)

        • I had that for like 12 months and got no surveys so I uninstalled it.. must of didn't like me.. rip :(

        • @AlienC:
I've used it since October 2014 and have made $97.

        • @Methotical: wow nice man what's your demographics..maybe my joblessness was getting me no clicks or surveys

        • @AlienC:
Gold coast. Most of the time it's Woolworths and Coles reviews. Make sure you have location services turned on. They will bump them up :)

I agree. Not to mention the cost of HDDs, NAS, etc etc… I just legally buy mine (for the rare once a week I might watch a movie). Far cheaper, easier and legal.

  • I just use Tor browser and use TPB as I always did. Not that I torrent much anymore, I just use Netflix and stan 99% of the time. The only things I'll torrent are the odd full series of an old TV show thats not on TV or Netflix.

  • I stream everything. I use Kodi with custom addons from tvaddons and just stream 99% of what I want to watch.

If that isn't cutting it, I resub to usenet, but that isn't often.

  • lol they didn't block the ones I use.
as for the ones that are actually blocked, it's just a second to turn on my VPN on my browser.
I've been able to download everything I want.

  • The problem is that even the best of the private tracker sites don't last forever.

They build up a massive base of content and knowledgeable users, and become a fantastic resource, but eventually the government of the country where the site is situated tends to catch up with them, and the site goes down.

This happened with What.CD late last year. This was by far the best site on the net for music - over 1 million recordings, many no longer available either commercially or on any other site.

A very private site - invitation only, plus an interview before you were accepted. But the French govt still shut it down, and all user details had to be deleted.

There was a similar UK TV program site that shut down 18 months ago in similar circumstances. Again, a brilliant resource - programs going back to the 1950's. But it being a very private site din't stop it from being shut down.

Eventually they will be replaced, hopefully with something better - but I'm still suffering withdrawal symptoms!

  • Doubt any cop would be on Ozbaragin.

Didn't pirate bay got shut down? Keeps asking to pay for monthly fee, suspect it's the end of one of the best torrent sites. People Now days use rapidshare and megaupload using file hosting sites are faster.

Nah this is the right thread.

Torrent USED to be awesome, then everyone started using them.
Usenet USED to be awesome, until everyone started using them.
Let's keep the current awesome method a little hush hush perhaps? Anyone with half a brain and Google should be able to work it out.

On a Mac I use use ShowRSS and Catch.

    ExtraTorrent still works….otherwise VPN.

Two easy ones are extratorrents and rarbg

  • Not to be that guy, but if you're using a public tracker, no matter what route you take to bypass blocks, you're a fool.
It's akin to buying your coke from the new block on the corner… could be a cop, could be talc, could be the best damn grade ever, or it could be arsenic powder.

If would like to access Piratebay go to:
    pirateproxy.tech

Ever since I got Netflix and Spotify… I've virtually not torrented.
Shared across the family, the individual cost is peanuts.
In fact, I didn't even know they were blocking torrent sites until I read this thread!
Goes to show.. it's price and service that's the key to defeating pirates.

The best of the best for music lovers https://rutracker.org/forum/index.php great collection

  • I stopped watching TV programs and games and also movies have fallen by the wayside for me. I've turned into one of those people who only use the computer for checking email and web browsing.

It is nice to be able to find active music torrents when you need to though. Someone mentioned Demonoid, that had a great community but since it first got taken down and stayed down for the most part the community (helpful to keep old torrents seeded) has gone elsewhere or given up.

    To quote a Disney film:

"You are without doubt the worst pirate I have ever heard of"

  • Did you say VPN life subscription?

  • +1

and i got a chinese tv box..all sorted…even more stuff than torrents lol

  • Life is great! These torrents shouldn't be easily accessible by the public, otherwise puts further spotlight on the activity and we end up with these drastic measures. Leave torrents to the elite, you don't deserve any OP.

  • Search Engine: duckduckgo.com
    Browser: Tor Browser
torrents: extratorrent.cc, torrentz2.eu.. list is endless
DNS: dns.watch, opendns, freedns.zone and so on (many claim to have no log policy)
Or you can use free vpn to cloak your location, search and then add torrents.
Mind you torrents share real IP addresses so there is no hiding once you start downloading unless you use a vpn/torrify your connection.

  • Torrentz2. that is all.

  • what they blocked torrent sites ? havent even noticed here, (back to torrenting..)

  • I'm still using rarbg.

  • I have always said that if I could pay a fair price for content, I would as I am happy to support something I enjoy so much.

That's why I have a Netflix subscription and a Google Play subscription.

It seems though, even that is not enough. Music streaming services pay a pittance to the artists and Netflix doesn't have always have what I want to watch.

I won't sign up to Foxtel to watch Game of Thrones. Their antiquated business model needs to be updated to really give the people what they want. But my issue is more with HBO than Foxtel.

I don't understand, so if someone could explain this to me, why we have to wait over 2 months to see John Wick 2. I won't pirate it as it'll need to be in good quality, but not everyone is as fickle as me so it seems the production studios are begging for it to happen.

EDIT: Probably should address the question. Doing fine so far, largely because of online streaming sites and Netflix. I tried to watch Better Call Saul legitimately but Stan was too unreliable. I haven't found a need to sign up to an exclusive torrent site, largely because of Exodus.

  • I use the russian one.
Plenty of stuff there)) also in ENglish

  • But it's EZ to download TV, you could almost call it EZTV………

  • I use Chinese sites, very reliable and fast

  • VPN = still got PB

  • STREAM. I seriously don't get why so many people torrent when they can stream with less hassle. There's plenty of non-buffering high-quality streams that don't have disruptive ass and load quick out there. I would would only download if I'm going somewhere where I wouldn't get a decent connection.

    • What is high quality for you? Not all streams are FullHD and at least AC3 6 channels. That is enough for me to stay away from streaming.

    • I agree. Although streaming services have gotten allot better, the quality is still not on par of say a good quality 720p movie (3-5 GB) for obvious reasons.

  • It is streaming along quite fine.

  • Question - does anyone know whats in it for the streamers? I don't get it, it's not cheap to host video esp HD.

I can only assume their web versions are loaded with more ads than a porn site, and have yet to catch onto the media player streamers.

  • all sites are available

haven't read the whole thread but unblocked.cc has then all its a proxy portal so address comes up as romania or something so no vpn required either

  • has anyone used direct download sites like uploaded?
i have used free downloads a couple of times but only for small files like ebooks
they have file size limits so for anything big you would have to go premium

  • Sorry if this has been mentioned before but I use and addon for Chrome called "Hola" it's pretty much a mini vpn on a per chrome tab basis where you can pick which country you wish to browse from. Works well for me.

    • It has, and it's malware.
      But thanks.
