Faster Than Light is an excellent top-down space ship simulator that is currently on sale (discounted from USD9.99) at Humble Bundle. Note this is the advanced edition (includes additional events, ships and gameplay mechanics).

The sale will end on 13/02/17 at 4am ADST (~14 hours at time of writing) so get in quick.

  Just a reminder, if you already own FTL, the contents of Advanced Edition is free for you…it's already downloaded and added as a content patch for the original game.

  And to whoever reported it as not available to Australia, you could have asked for the iTunes link to be removed.
  It'll likely still work with a proxy and/or American iTunes account. Please add that into the post to avoid confusion.

  Excellent game, would thoroughly recommend. There are some good mods out there for it also, giving different ships and lots of extra content.
  If in doubt….open the airlocks :)

      If you have played though the vanilla game then adding the "Captain's Edition" mod opens up more weapons, scenarios, all sorts of stuff. You can also get fan made ships if you want to play though in the Enterprise ore Millennium Falcon ;)
      There are also some nice mods that replace the slightly drab backgrounds with high def Hubble pictures of real galaxies which is pretty cool.

  Can you actually go faster than light in the simulator? If so, it might not be a very good and accurate simulation 😁
