i dont see how Bose QuietComfort 25 are a deal?
you can get QC35's for 50 more when on sale

    • +6

QC25's take a AAA instead of charging via USB. Some people find that preferable. It's why I go them anyway.

      • +5

Once you've gone wireless you will never go back to wired ones.

        • +2

not picky with sound quality i take it?

        • You can make QC25 wireless using an adapter like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MTQGY69/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_tt…

But you can't make QC35 to accept AAA batteries, music through BT when NC is off, etc

So for many reasons, QC25 is a better choice for many.

        • @ZloyKrys:

I never know these existed. Great idea

        • @mlburnian:

          Different tools for different jobs.

When I'm lazing in the comfort of my home, I use the DT880 or TH-X00.

I use the MDR-1000X or QC30 when I'm running helter skelter thru one airport terminal after another. No cords to mess with.

And on the subject of sound quality, no the QC25 although wired does not sound good. Neither does any of the NC headphones, wired or wireless. But I'm sure none of you got it for SQ right? :)

        • @ZloyKrys:

Sure, that's a good add on. But I don't buy electronics thinking or making them last indefinitely. I use them in that moment and make the most out of it. Then I move on to the next iteration.

        • @ZloyKrys: I had the old qc20 and actually love how the qc35s don't have AAA

The battery lasts so long and it tells you the % left. I didn't use them for 2. Months and they didn't lose charge

You can charge everywhere on the go these days via USB but I've never needed to

          @m9:

That's your choice mate, but having both the QC15 which is 7 years old now and a brand new pair of QC25s, I don't see much of difference between these two iterations. Except for the BT add-on to the QC25 which I found handy and the ability of QC25s to play music when the battery is flat.

There's nothing wrong with the new crop of QCs either, I am sure they are great but don't really see them as the next major iteration, as there are too many downsides in them for my use cases.

        • @ZloyKrys:

I don't see much of difference between these two iterations
the ability of QC25s to play music when the battery is flat

Iterations will always be minor so companies have room for improvement and of course, to sell you another product. That ability you mentioned above is one of the reason why people upgraded, or went for the QC25s.

Except for the BT add-on to the QC25 which I found handy

And this BT feature alone is enough to compel people to pick up the QC35 instead. Sure it's not going to be night and day between all these iterations. The premium you are paying over the previous models is just for these tiny extra or new or much needed feature.

        • @m9:

That's the law of diminishing returns

        • @ZloyKrys:

          Exactly.

      • I agree. I wish QC35 was a AAA battery.

      • That's why I got them. Could not get a definitive answer if the battery is replaceable as well.

      • +2

Battery bank + headphones work nicely too, with the QC35 that is. I love mine

      • -1

I got mine because it was cheap, got it when DSE was closing down.

Wireless is more convenient but I am cheapskate so whatever is cheaper and does the same job, I will buy.

It's like the Dyson fan and Kmart fan in the other post… go with the Kmart one.

    • Some prefer QC25 and regardless you can't really get QC35 for $348. Cheapest sale seen $369.19. Before that $379.20 or $379.95. They sell out quickly though.

  • can you use the QC35 while they are charging? ie plug them into the usb socket on the plane? cheers

    • Only in wired mode.

    • Yep - only in wired mode. But the battery life is really good. I'd say a full charge would easily get you through an 18 hour flight.

      • The only bad thing is that it's one more gadget to charge. If you forgot to fully charge you QC35 and it dies half way through to US, you will not have NC until you recharge, whereas with QC15/25 you can just swap AAA battery and get another 30 hours of NC

        • -1

Never really been an issue for me. OzB community might shoot me for saying this, but AA/AAA batteries are a thing of the past. Everything is lithium and rechargeable with cables. You should have a powerbank or a micro USB on you while travelling for any other plethora of other devices. Worst case scenario, you listen to your music with pass through using the aux cable whilst it charges for half an hour. Should give you ANC for another few hours.

        • +2

          @ts13:

I don't understand what's your point, to be honest. You like to be a watchdog for the battery of your headphones, that's fair enough. There is no way you can charge the QC35 and use NC at the same time, the powerbank is a moot point. two spare AAA batteries (Eneloop of course) weight next to nothing in the case and take 1 min to swap. Along with one already in the QC 25, this set up gives approx 90 hours of NC.

Too bad if QC35 goes flat halfway through to Dubai, 7-8 hours of massive headache is a fair cost of the "progressive" design with integrated battery. Also come back in 2 years when the integrated battery will degrade to half of its capacity, I'll lend you a couple of Eneloop AAAs

        • @ZloyKrys:

Not saying anything about your AAA battery preference. But just pointing this out to others:

Too bad if QC35 goes flat halfway through to Dubai, 7-8 hours of massive headache

A quick 15 minutes charge will get you 2.5 hours. Plug it in, go take a dump or talk to the hot FA and you should be good to go in no time :)

        • @m9:

Fair enough but you need to charge it 3 times for 15 minutes to get 7.5, that's a lot of talk time to the hot FAs :)

        • +1

          @ZloyKrys:

And if you're really smooth you might not come back to the QC35 :)

  • Is this for Apple or Android?

    • "optimised to work with iPhone and other Apple products." Looks like Apple, thanks I'll add that in.

    • +5

      This is for Human.

  • All gone for Bose and Multi Room speakers

    • Still available here (SA), try setting another store to see if it's available there, or it might be out of stock in your state. Speakers are in store only most probably, lots of stores with limited stock which you'll have to call but a few with available also.

  • Seems like the Q25s are all sold out "no longer available online" and "This product is temporarily unavailable, but here is something similar!" in sydney?

    • +1

Try a few other stores but yeah looks like sold out in NSW. If set Sydney NSW 2000 it's unavailable, but Melbourne VIC 3000 or SA 5000 it's available.

  • +1

Thanks OP. Just got a mug from Brisbane cbd. Ticket price isn't $3 but scanned $3

  • Cheers, got a blue travel mug for $3

  • -1

almost like Fail of the Day - they have next to little to no stock …

    • They're clearance items, not advertised offers. What did you expect??

      • +1

a true ozbargainer always expect more.

  • Well good luck calling to ask … got hung up on by 2 stores and one rang out for so long that it disconnected me… 1 store i called actually helped me out … total rubbish

  • I wish tv can transmit sound via BT to these speakers…. then my setup would be complete, dont have to put up with dogs, wife, babies or any other crap in the house.

    • You probably can get a BT transmitter for your TV.

  • what's the big difference between QC 23 & 35?

    • +2

Someone whose google isn't broken (like mine and yours) will help you shortly.

    • QC35 - Bluetooth (you can still use the cable), Better equaliser, Rechargeable battery (20hrs Wireless, 40 Hours Wired), Better communication (Voice feeds back through headphones, and a noise isolating mic)
QC25 - Cable only, AAA BAttery (35 Hours), In-line Mic and remote (so needs to be Apple/Android dedicated remote)
