I originally posted the standard version of this Manfrotto remote, and then a poster put up this one for US$79.95. I am just putting this post as it has come down in price further, and now the stated recommended price has been listed as US $659.99. I believe it will be discontinued, however it is a bargain if you want the item as it costs much more locally.

Enjoy.

    US$659 ?

what a useless post for an overpriced RRP

Vote for the price. Not the RRP.

I don't think it was ever worth the original RRP, yet it is a pretty impressive accessory for the selected Canon DSLRs to do video work. It is a quality product. Very well made, and all the most important camera settings are there on the LCD on the arm, including manual focusing of the camera. To be fair it should be compared to other Manfrotto remotes for videos etc. They are all ridiculously priced.

At US$70 I think it is a great price! Try getting a name brand basic remote release for a Canon DSLR… it will got roughly the same and you can't compare the advanced features.

seems like a bargain, thanks OP i got 10

    • Thanks for your kind words. My pleasure.

Clearly not the same functions… so depending on your requirements a basic remote is fine.

This one does a whole lot more. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORyrINS3zrY

Did you actually watch the video?? There is a 2 sec delay from pressing the shutter button to taking a picture- lol..even my $5 remote doesnt have that problem.

Anyone crazy enough to buy this should watch the video first!

        • I read reports that many of the issues had been addressed in later firmware releases since that video. The video shows the complexity of features of the remote when compared to a $5 basic remote that the previous poster suggested

        • Can you show me which remote you have that can do all those functions presented in the video?

    • RRP may be overpriced, but $120 isn't bad for a good quality piece of equipment with a digital display, focus etc. Does your $5 one do that too?

      • What i was trying to point out is that most of these extra features are useless on a modern dslr. Its grossly overpriced irrespective of rrp

The RRP is doing it's job which is making more people think the actual price is good ie manipulating their perception of value for this item. The process is 100% automatic and does not rely on what you think an RRP is for etc. If the number is there then the anchoring effect occurs.

    • Can your $5 remote do pull focusing for videos?

  • Specs say it's only compatible with the following older cameras:
EOS 5D Mark II and Mark III
    EOS 1D Mark IV
    EOS 7D
    EOS 60D
    EOS 600D / Rebel T3i / Kiss x5
    EOS 550D / Rebel T2i / Kiss x4
    EOS 500D / Rebel T1i / Kiss x3

Who knows if it works with newer cameras. Suspect that's why it's being cleared out.

I'll try it on the 7D MKII and report back.

        show off……

    • Checked some Q&A online and they say it works on the 6D and 70D for instance. But some newer models use a different USB plug and it's likely they haven't bothered updating the firmware to support them anyway.

    • what does it have against Nikon? :(

  • Don't know all the features it has.
    Already have two remotes.
    Save hundreds?
    Must have.
    Ordered.

    • that's the guy from the video posted above lol
