      serious?

      • +11

        Red Rooster taste much better

        • +1

          YMMV.

We bought a Coles chicken a few days ago and it was REALLY good. I know DU99 has been modded way down for suggesting it, but I would prefer to spend $8.75 to get a Coles chicken and the Coles lime softdrink.

If you like Red Rooster, you don't have to take my advice. So, YMMV.

          @DeWalt:

Negged more for the typical 'going to supermarket and cooling drink down yourself is cheaper than take away' aspect than the quality of chicken, I'd say

    • +6

$8 for woolies chicken, $2.85 for 1.25l coke, so $4.15 for a family sized chips is still a good deal. Plus can get this deal through drive-through. And the seasoning on the chicken is way better too.

      • +2

I was just about to post this exact thing. A 1kg frozen bag of Woolies brand chips is about $2.50 so I think this is a fantastic deal to have a COLD 1.25 bottle of soft drink and waaaay tastier chips.

Not a bargain though as you can get it cheaper…

        • +2

@jv: Cheaper doesn't mean bargain, need to take quality/quantity and others (such as service …) into account.

        • @jv: Hello jv :) haven't seen you lately

          @Wystri Warrick:

          Hello Wystri Warrick,

Maybe that's because you're in SA and I'm in VIC.

        • +1

@jv: you know I think you could be on to something there jv.

    • Why is this down voted, he is spot on.
You wanna save money, that is how you do it.
Red Roaster, pfft…. who even goes there?

  • +5

I was thinking the same thing as DU99, but seeing how many downvotes he got, I might give this Red Rooster chicken a try.

    • His point is valid but it doesnt take into consideration the time it takes to cook the frozen chips and cool down the drink, this is a decent deal for the price I reckon

      • Yea I guess, as others have pointed out above, this does work out to be a decent deal. I don't really drink Coke or any soft drinks, the bundled Cokes I get from the OzB Dominos deals are still sitting in my pantry. But seeing Red Rooster has so many supporters here, I might try it since I have a Red Rooster near me but I have never been there, ever.

        • Chicken salt they use is pretty good, but you can just buy chicken salt from colesworth and make them yourself

        • +3

If you don't want the drink you can sign up to the app and get the chicken and chips for $10 :)

        • +1

@jdogg: yea. I signed up and got the $5 voucher. So it works out cheaper like you said. $10 for chicken and chips is a pretty sweet deal too. Cheers.

        • @geek001:
No worries. I should have probably just posted that as the deal to begin with!

doesnt take into consideration the time it takes to cook the frozen chips

I just get my wife to cook them.

Yes, she does great frozen chips.

Thinking of applying for next year's MKR…

His point is very valid. Is this not the same OzBargain that will create fake addresses overseas and bypass geo-restrictions, basically provide fraudulent information during a transaction, all for the sake of saving a few bucks. This is the same OzBargain that will spend 20min driving the extra 10km across town to price match at Officeworks to save the extra $5 (Net saving after the extra fuel cost of course). This is the same OzBargain that will calculate second hand prices, and buy products with QFF and resell to convert to cash.

Why all of a sudden is it worth spending extra money to have someone else cook some chips and refrigerate a bottle of Coke?

        • +1

          Hallelujah !!!

    • +2

I say save your money, I lived near a RR for 23 years and I don't think I visited them more than 20times, and I've tasted their chicken a dozen times and none of them memorable. Only reason I went as well was because of entertainment book vouchers.

Woolworths and Coles chicken are better. My opinion only, but I'm ready for negs.

      • Once upon a time I would've argued with you but Colesworths have definitely upped their chicken game in the last few years.

Targeted, 1 account got this, another got a free drink with the $5 deals…

Offer is only available for the Card Number listed above

    • Yep just joined and only got the $5 deal

    • I got it on all 4 of my accounts. Just took longer for the email to come through on some of them

I'm starting to think Red Rooster is a drug front. Every time I go past a Red Rooster, it is dead empty. How the hell are they able compete in the business with mediocre deals like these?

    • Haha there's a restaurant down the road from my work and I reckon it's deffo a front for laundering. It's had a few name changes + 'renos' but same cuisine type and there is NEVER anyone there. On top of that it's located in a primo location.

    • Short Answer:
Purchased 99% of their land sites back in the 80s when land was as cheap as chips and reinvest this warchest into the business while selling key sites when necessary + make enough income so remain in business.

Underpaying staff and hiring kids. Also, is franchise. Source: used to work there

        • Gold nuggets ???

    • We need to contact consumer affairs. Something should be done about this.

    • Missing feathers and offals too…..
